Lightfoot - A Trial of Skill - Hawk Solo

The Trial of Skill - Knighthood
Hawk Solo
Location: A clearing in the forest

It is early morning and the sun light dances on the small droplets of moisture gathered on the leaves in the trees of the forest. A soft white mists is quickly burning up by the suns rays as it climbs over head, much noise can be heard by the creatures now waking and starting a new day while the night creatures settle in hidden realms to sleep.

Iella walks among the life and leaves that litter the forest floor, her cream cloak hangs over her body protecting her from the morning chill but she is in no mind to pay it any attention. Today see the beginning of a set of five trials for her Padawan, [member="Hawk Solo"]. His road as Padawan now reaching an end and soon he will face the Trials of Knighthood.

She arrived at the appointed location, set deep in the forest .. soon him will arrive and the trail will commence. And there is another to attend, his opponent for the Trial, Master [member="Rasu Gan"]. Iella moves to sit on the lush undergrowth and begins a mediation. The living force strong here and she allows it to cleanse her mind.

From under the tree, Hawk opened his eyes. It was time to face his trials. He felt a little nervous. He wasn't sure what to expected. He knew that each trial would test his knowledge and skills. Master Iella had prepared him for that.

He stands and walks toward the clearing in the forest. He bows to his Master. "Morning." He says to her.

The trials for one had begun, and Rasu was honoured to be given the chance to assist the man in his journey to Knight hood. Looking down from her perch in the tree, Rasu could make out the two humans, one sitting down as if in meditation while the other remained standing. She could sense his anxiety, and she could not blame him. Completing the trial of skill was no easy feat, but Rasu was confident, from what Master E'ron had told her, that the young Hawk Solo was more than ready to begin his set of trials.

Dressed in only a cream sports bra and matching shorts, Rasu leaped down from her perch, lightsabers in hand. She had been advised to not hold back, so to truly test the Padawans skill with a lightsaber, so Rasu was prepared to use everything in her power, including those abilities connected to her species, thus the tight clothing. Using the Force to soften her landing, she rose from her bent knee position to stand next to her fellow Jedi Master, offering a smile to the Padawan.

"Good morning Padawan Solo." she said in greeting, placing her hands and sabers behind her back while she waited for Iella to begin the first trial.

Iella gave Hawk a small smile as he addressed her. She stood up as the form of Rasu landed beside her, she had sensed Rasu but not her intention and her surprise landing made Iella jump, an internal giggle filled her mind, damn cheek!. "Thank you Master Gan for attending", she said softly and getting back to the work ahead.

"The trial will begin shortly, remember Hawk this trial is about skill and use of the saber forms .. remember your training and especially your natural talent", she was referring to his brilliant use of foot work. She moved closer to him and spoke more, "This is not about winning, if you did disarm Master Gan that would be .. the end of the Trial", she did not want to say unexpected or impossible as it was indeed most unlikely. Rasu is the blademaster after all. "May the Force be with You'.

No more instruction from Iella, she simply moved off a distance to not impede the Trial and sat on a fallen log to observe. "Begin".

"Good Morning Master Gan." He bows his head to her. He listens to Iella's advice. Remember to use his natural talent. Move your feet. Listen to the music in his head. He was ready.

He removes his saber from his belt. He ignites the brilliant blue blade. This trial was about his skill not winning. He will show Master Gan his skills.

He decided to attack first put her on the defensive right away. Since he never fought with her. He wasn't sure of her weakness or if she had any weakness.

He shifts his stance from left to right before quickly striking twice hitting Rasu rib cage and hip on her left side.

Rasu's body tensed slightly as soon as Iella declared the beginning of the trial, turning towards the Padawan as her spine shivered with danger sense. Taking a casual step backwards, Rasu felt the searing heat of Hawk's blue blade pass over abdomen, before leaping into the air, bounding over the second swing of the blue lightsaber.

Having dodged the man's first attacking attempts, Rasu decided to remain on the defensive allowing the Padawan to display his skills in an offensive state before she would attack him. While in mid-air, Rasu reached out with her right foot, gently planting it atop Hawk's head, before pushing off, sending her backwards and hopefully causing the man to stumble backwards. Continuing from this, Rasu grabbed her knees before tucking them under her chest, back-flipping onto her feet a fair distance away.

Looking down to her belt, Rasu contemplated whether to bring out her own sabers. Being a master of Form IV, Rasu was used to being continuously on the offensive, however for this trial she had to test Hawk's skills in both defense and offense so for now she would hold back, and leave her lightsabers on her belt, ready for when she would spring for an attack.

([member="Hawk Solo"] sorry for keeping you waiting!)

Hawk stumbles backward a couple of feet after the foot planting on the top of his head by Rasu. "Nice." He says with a grin. "I have to remember that."

He turns around to face Rasu. He couldn't help but notice that Rasu still hasn't drawn her blade. Interesting tactic. He remember something that Iella told him once. There is no rules. Fight dirty.

Grinning, he calls upon the force to bring Rasu's weapon to him. He wasn't sure if it was going to work. It was worth trying. If she wasn't going to used than she didn't need it.

(It okay. :) )

Rasu watched as the young man smiled, as if he had realised something. It concerned the Jedi that she did not yet know the reason for amusement, and her body tensed as she prepared for some form of attack. What is he up to? she thought, reaching out towards his mind through the Force, in an attempt to perceive the man's next move.

However her attention was suddenly drawn to her belt as she felt a slight tug. Her jaw dropped for a split second, and she couldn't help but smile as she watched one of her sabers fly through the air, coming to rest in the palm of Hawk. She stared at the hilt, resting in his hand, and just laughed, a small chuckle causing her body to shake slightly.

"Very good, nice thinking." she said, bringing her hand down to her other saber, "I think I'll hold onto to this one though if you don't mind?" Activating the weapon, she cast a bright yellow glow over the surrounding area, its light bathing both Shi'ido and human. Holding the wepaon out to the side, Rasu awaited the man's next move, with both his own and the new saber.

"No, I don't mind." He says pleased that his trick had worked.

Rasu's blade felt different than his own in his left hand. He always wanted to fighting with two blades. Might well give it a whirl. He actives Rasu's blade. The yellow ans blue blades contrast lay nicely with one another.

He flicks his wrists right to left. The sabers humming in the air sounding like mad honey bees. He takes a step forward and with his blue blade he strikes Rasu's right shoulder awhile with yellow blade he slashes across her left thigh.

Rasu watched, smiling slightly as Hawk weighed the new weapon in his hand. She knew it would feel unfamiliar, the one risk when stealing another's saber, one that she would use against him, all in due time. It was strange however, how much the contrasting colours of blue and yellow suited the Padawan. She would have to offer a lesson to the young man once his trials were over, at least to better equip him in his future as a Silver Jedi.

However she was drawn from her thoughts, body tensing as Hawk ran at her, striking with both blades parallel. Knowing that there wasn't much time to perform a more effective dodge, she trusted her instincts and opened herself to the Force. Leaping to the side, she arced her body as she felt the heat of the two lightsabers, passing through the twin energy blades, missing them by a hair's breadth. Carefully she carried her feet through the blades, before landing on her back, rolling backwards before landing back on her feet, yellow saber still in hand.

"Nicely done." she called, looking down towards the dark patches of her shorts. The material having been slightly scorched from the close encounter with the two lightsabers. "That was a little too close for comfort." Smiling, she decided it was time to have a bit more fun with the man.

Reaching out with the Force, she begin circling her empty hand in front of her, creating a small wind current, which grew in size and strength with each motion. Her hair began to fly carelessly behind her, picked up by the strong wind that was slowly formed. Loose leaves and twigs were also picked up, swirling in a massive horizontal vortex that Rasu now directed towards the Padawan. Before long all the surrounding foliage had been drawn into the wind spiral, all aimed now at the young man, who would now be trapped within the tornado. Releasing control, she allowed the vortex to continue at it's own course, either dying or rising in strength.

Hawk eyes widen as the wind vortex and all the debris moved toward him. He lashes out with the sabers so that debris wouldn't strike him. All that maneuver did was create more smaller pieces.

The tornado lifted him off the ground a few feet. Ok, lightsabers didn't work. The wind vortex was made by the force it can be stopped with the force. Hawk closes his eyes and channels his power to him. The power builds in him. He spreads his arms out with the saber in each hand as he releases his power to breaks Rasu's vortex.

Hawk falls to the ground breathing a little heavy. That had taken a lot out of him. He didn't know that he had that kind of power dwelling in him.

Rasu watched as Hawk was picked up, as if a twig like the ones contained within the wind vortex and was flung among the foliage in the spiral, the blue and yellow blades of his sabers, acted as a beacon as they too became a blur in the funnel of air. She could sense the Corellian's distress as he was flung and thrown among the twigs and leaves that accompanied, and slowly became concerned that she had cast to advanced a move upon the Padawan. Had she over-estimated his abilities?

However a great surge soon swelled up within the man, as a bright light began to form within the vortex, illuminating the man as he was covered in immense light. Rasu's mouth hung open-slightly as she witnessed the eruption of the Force that was released from Hawk's fingertips, leaving what remained of the vortex and its innards, falling to the ground. Hawk too fell, his chest rising in falling in quick bursts as he caught his breathe. Rasu would have given him this reprieve, but this was a trial, and she was his enemy. If it were a Sith he was facing they would not hesitate to strike while he was vulnerable and Rasu could not hesitate either.

Wrapping the Force around him, she tightened its hold over the man, coiling like a tight rope so to bind him and limit his movements, before calling him over, the Force hopefully dragging his body closer towards the Shi'ido. Bringing her lightsaber to her side, she leaped, bringing her saber down upon the man as he was dragged by the Force to meet her blade. Swinging deep, she aimed to land the yellow blade straight across his chest, which would leave a deep gash drawn from neck to groin.

He hadn't had time to catch his breath before Rasu struck again. Her force wrapped him and bound. He could barely. He struggles against as he is dragged forward toward Rasu.

He had figure away out of this but how. He felt drained from the force he had unleashed. Drained or not he had to survive. This was a test of his skills. He had to find away to get her to release him from her force hold. A distraction would work.

He narrows his eyes as he blocks Rasu's blade with his blue saber barely in time. The searing from the yellow blade leaves a burn mark on his clothing. All he could do with his blade was block.

It was time to distracted Rasu. Using what strenght he had left, Hawk focus on the dirt and pebbles around them. He couldn't do a wind vortex or tornado like Rasu but he could make a small dust storm around her. All he wanted to do was to get her to release her hold on him.

Rasu continued the motion, flipping over the man, as their blades connected. Bounding over Hawk, she turned, preparing to again latch onto the Padawan through the Force and again repeat the action. However she gasped as dirt and dust was flung at her, centered into what appeared like a small cloud. The dust entered her mouth and eyelids, causing her to splutter and instinctively bring her hands to her eyes. All thought of Hawk immediately vanished, releasing her hold as she focused on clearing her eyes and mouth.

Coughing and spluttering, the panic that had quickly enveloped her, soon passed, as she felt the uncomfortable sensation of the remnants pass through her throat and further into her body, where it would be harmlessly forgotten. Now calling on the Force, at the same time, she extended her awareness, having lost track of her exact position, and sought the Force signature of her opponent, keeping her mind locked on him, while she expelled the grit from her eyes.

Tears now rolling from her face, she opened her bloodshot eyes, turning them on Hawk, catching sight of the blue blade through her rapidly clearing vision. Still wanting to maintain her assault, she leaped backwards, planting her feet against a limb-laden tree before pushing, her blade horizontally aimed to pierce Hawk. However her aim appeared shaky, as her vision remained cloudy. For all she knew her maneuver could be easily dodged by the Corellian. She was about to find out either way.

The dust storm had worked. Hawk stumbles to the ground on all fours when he was released from Rasu grip. He knew he had a little time before Rasu next assault. Scrambling he stands up with blades in hand.

In those few moments, the dust storm was clearing. Rasu was coming toward him quickly. Hawk sidesteps away from her approaching blade. It barely misses him. He swings his blue blade trying to strike her left shoulder awhile the yellow blade slide under her left arm.

Rasu caught sight of the blurry form of Hawk slip past her attack, zipping off to the left of her as she felt her danger sense kick in again, tingling at the base of her spine. Again the young Corellian had caught her in a tricky situation, with hardly any options for evading the attack. Reaching out towards the man with her empty hand, she thrust out with the Force, sending a surge of Force energy directly in the middle of the two blades, heading for the humans chest. Rasu was thrown backwards, feeling herself being propelled from the force of the attack. She made sure to keep her arms rigid, so to avoid connecting with either of the two deadly energy blades.

Flying through the air, Rasu twisted her body causing her to spin as she collided with the ground, softening the thud partially. When she felt herself stop, she stood, her legs shaking slightly as she again activated her saber, her chest rising and falling in sharp heavy breathes, worn out by the recent fighting. She faced the Corellian, and then turning to his Master. Iella had been observing the entire duel, hopefully agreeing with Rasu in terms of Hawk's fighting style. If she was in her position right now, Rasu would be swelling with pride, to see the man fight with such determination and courage against such a foe as the Shi'ido.

"You're doing exceptionally well young Solo, I must admit that. But now I'm afraid that the gloves are off. There will be no holding back!" she said. Deactivating her saber, and latching it back to her belt as she sent a mental warning to [member="Iella E'ron"], giving her a few moments notice before her altering of the environment began. Closing her eyes, she delved deep into the Force, linking her essence to nearly every living thing around her save the two Corellians. Twisting and turning their utter being, she felt the earth beneath her feet shake. Thrusting her hands outwards towards [member="Hawk Solo"], she opened her eyes, laying witness to the massive tentacles that shot out towards the man. Consisting of roots and dirt stitched together through the Force, the shot off towards Hawk, hoping to constrain and bind him.

Rasu's force blast hit him squarely in the chest. Hawk was flung backward to the ground. Hawk does a backflip onto his feet.

He smiles lopsided at Rasu's compliment. His jaw drops when she says that she was taking the gloves off. "Frak" he cursed out loud. She had been going easy on him.

The roots and dirt came toward him. No way he was going to allow himself to be constrain again. He knew his sabers would be no use to him. He hooks them to his belt. He summons all his strenght in the force. With his eyes open, he calls out on the rocks, stones, and branches to form a barrier. A wall to protect him from Rasu attack.

There was a massive thud as the roots collided with something solid, forming a great dust cloud that interfered with Rasu's vision. Using the Force again, she reached out and cleared the dust cloud, thinning the dark smudge until the roots came into view. The Shi'ido was quite surprised and impressed to see a great barrier of rock and tree limbs halting her own attack's progress, the roots having been crushed upon contact with the much harder substance. Realising that her roots would be of no more use, she summoned the earthen tentacles back into the ground, watching as they slowly retracted from whence they came.

Rasu could sense the Corellian from behind his makeshift barrier, and smiled slightly, finding a tiny flaw in his only defense. Taking a few steps forward, she stretched her palms out towards the stones and branches that made up Hawk's barrier, connecting her essence to the Force. Pushing outwards, she sent bits of the barrier flying backwards, breaking apart the wall and sending the fragments hurtling towards the human, pelting him with pieces of his own creation. Hawk would have to be a bit more careful with what he manipulated if he was to survive against the Shi'ido.

He breathes a sigh of relief when the roots slam against his wall. It had worked. He wipes the sweat from his brow. A look of horror comes over his face as his wall is used agaainst him.

He curls into a ball on the ground. Trying to make himself a smaller target. While in the fetal position. He closes his eyes to mediate to puting a force bubble around him as the rocks and limbs cover him.

He needed a few seconds to recharge and get of this situation. Ballet music played in his head. He could feel the swell of the music as his force build up around him. It was time to fly. To leap. The rocks and limbs on top slowly move away. There was just enough room for him to leap through.

He shot straight into the air unhooking his two sabers and igniting them awhile spinning. He lands in front of Rasu. Blue blade slicing horizontal across her chest with the yellow across her legs.

Yet another dust cloud began to form other the pile of stones and twigs, as Rasu continued to pelt the man with what remained of his meager barrier. The Shi'ido felt that the trial was coming to a close, and turned her head slightly to try and distinguish any signs from Iella. She had been observing the entire trial, standing a fair distance away from the pair, and she wondered if the Jedi Master had witnessed enough. It was her decision in the end.

Turning back towards the barrier, danger sense tingled at the base of her spine, as she let out a gasp of surprise as Hawk appeared in front of her, sabers swinging at her chest and legs. Time seemed to slow down, as Rasu fought her instincts to jump backwards, knowing that in doing so would still end with her in a severed mess. Instead, she leaped up and around, pulling her body into a ball as she kicked the man's arm holding his original saber away from her chest, while bounding over her own saber.

Landing back on her feet, she kicked again, infusing some of the Force with her attack. If it made contact with Hawk he would surely be sent flying backwards, as her kick would hold the same power as that of a telekinetic shove.
