Private Like A Flower

PERSENUS

Qoritottoi..... Ashaottoi....

The smaller ports here on Korbin was better than he had expected. For a near lawless world, even when touched in the power of CIS, it looked cleaner and more formative than he expected. Shiny floors, newly scrubbed. Smooth music played in the background with the chatter of crooks and criminals delightfully and peacefully layered above it. With all of the polish, and the class it had over the rest of the planet, Persenus knew that this peace was strenuous at best when you peel off the shine. He stepped into its hangars, surrounded by ships of all sorts. Smuggler ships, pirates ships, poacher ships, and, to Persenus' dismay, slaver ships.

"You look like a flower... so sweet today." The speakers sang the old tune.

Togrutans underneath the dominion of the Chevin. Chevin were a race Persenus had great disdain for, along with Hutts, Pykes, Trandoshans, and Zygerrians, more so than normal people, and that was saying something with how vilified some of those races already are. Persenus had half the mind to kill the slavers then and there, but on a world like this, a lightsaber-wielding fool would drift in gossip and word and the less people that talked about him, the better. Persenus knew better than to cause trouble. He would've walked right along, find someone that could get him off this rock.

Then he heard that laugh. The sleemo's damned laugh, that sense of accomplishment. It made him stop and struggle further to keep that anger inside him. He took a deep and calming albeit shaky breath. He is above emotions. He will not indulge himself in wanton violence. Not anymore. He pulled on his robes as he planned to continue on his way. He cannot be so generous with kindness. Such mindless squandering will lead to weakness in the galaxy.

Then he heard a whimper. He turned to see that within the cages, there was a Togrutan girl, no older than he was when he was first put in the pits. His mind flashed to the slave selections prior to the pits where what kind of slave he was to be was being determined. As an Echani, he was put in the fight pits for his natural combat instinct that has been drilled into the culture of his people. The girls with him though, Togrutans, Twi'leks, were put into rings of a different kind. Whether through the Force or through knowledge of the system, he saw the girl's future.

He could not stand by. Not now. In his robes, he made a gesture. He wasn't exactly a fine user of the Force, finesse wasn't something he had much experience in. The basic application of unlocking locked cages and doors was a complex task for Persenus that required more concentration than usual. In exchange for subtlety, however, Persenus had power in spades. With a grasping motion, hidden in his cloak, he crushed the locks. Even the durasteel collars were destroyed in a single maneuver.

Perhaps such a reckless thing was not ideal, but Persenus had the patience of a Rancor. They'd realize it was a Force-User that did it but as long as they don't figure out who it was, then he figured he would be fine. As the Togrutans leapt out of their cages, the stronger escapees would engage in combat. Persenus stood on the side-lines, quietly using Force Valor to aid them. Blasters went off, some of the Togrutans died, but in the end, with their inhuman reflexes and speed, they prevailed. No other's from outside cared enough to get involved. The only one's left were the Togrutans, the more neutral characters that let the violence go on without them, and Persenus.

Still cloaked in shadows, Persenus watched as the Togrutans picked a key from one of the bodies. They were to fly off the planet till they reach home. Persenus would stand idly, seemingly indifferent like the rest, until the little girl came to look at him. He smiled and nodded, and the little girl smiled. She would probably grow up thinking she and her people were saved by a Jedi. As much as hated being compared to them, it was close enough.

They left on one of the pirate ships, leaving the rest of them in the dust. Persenus would see that this was a fruitful endeavor too, seeing that he now had a selection of freed ships to choose from. No wasting credits or spending time in uncomfortable spaces to hide from the ship-owner. He picked up a key and began his search for the ship it belonged to.

And still, that song continued to play but without the chatter. It seemed to repeat itself.

"You look like a flower..... each and every way...."
