List of Planetary Catastrophes

Well-Known Member
The list is growing little by little! I should have everything nominated so far, I believe. I still have no further information on Mandalore and its current state, and I just remembered that the One Sith "Terrorformed" Tython. Some details on that would be lovely. Didn't Cira make a submission for that?

Actions of small groups count too, I suppose? I have an ongoing thread in which the planet Surron was invaded by the undead which normally live on Mimban. The populace has been decimated by them but a group calling itself The Reformation has intervened and rescued a few thousand civilians from devastation. [Link]

[member="Braith Achlys"] thank you!

[member="Darth Ignus"] only if the consequence of those actions noticeably alter the standard environment of the planet they are on. For instance, orbital bombardment, superweapons, massive asteroid impacts, genocides, particularly devastating invasions, nuclear detonation, terraforming projects, etc.. How large is the population we are talking about, and how wide spread did this plague get? Would you say that more than 40% of the population was killed/turned?

[member="Fatty"] No Directive 12 (GA invasion of Coruscant), Mindabaal or Sekalus (the Croa virus arc)?

If anyone is willing to add more details about these disasters, feel free to do so.

Coruscant: Directive 12 resulted in wanton devastation perpetrated by the One Sith in the defense of its capital in the face of advancing Galactic Alliance forces, causing the deaths of dozens of millions of civilians (primarily in the Financial District, Valley of the Lords) in an attempt to cover the retreat of the One Sith armies. Darth Centax is rumored to be involved in the widespread destruction. Link

Mindabaal: Perpetrated at the height of the civil war between the One Sith and what ultimately became the Sith Order, the battle between these two Sith groups resulted in planet-wide devastation that left most cities of Mindabaal in ruins and both parties being equally complicit in destruction, amounting to a genocide. Link

Sekalus: The Covenant of the Black Rose unleashed bacteriological weapons upon the population of Sekalus, turning them into Sithspawn against their will, later claiming to develop a cure that turned out to be the now-extinct Croa virus. Anyone who opposed the new rulers was ripped apart or turned into the undead, mind-controlled Sithspawn. Also, the people who were not infected were turned into breeders, with their children being taken away and turned into Croa. Link #1, Link #2, Link #3

Just a reminder, [member="Fatty"]. The Imperial Remnant didn't flee from Christophsis, the CIS did, we were victorious both times the planet was attacked.

Croa aren't sithspawn. When I submitted that i removed all mentions of them been such, it's in the tag of the sub too. Also the breaders and children part never happened. People who weren't effected was literally not directly effected unless their friends or family had been effected. Over time the croa bred with other croa.

Those who apposed the leadership at the time where darksiders or believers of the sith's religion's the very thing the Cotbr/Ootbr left behind upon departure from the os. Those who opposed the leadership now would be jailed for any crimes they commit with evidence. Did do that slightly in an rp once. Can't remember which one.

However I cannot deny that innocence didn't die by the hands of the black rose but the only ones sanya effected was the former tyrant king and some others in the same room. Who transitioned into croa.

[member="Sanya Val Swift"] I'm gunna need you to abbreviate that please. Tell me only exactly what is considered to have happened. I don't need to know the stuff which was later retconned or whatever. Only what is prevalent to RPers now, in regards to visiting Sekalus.

Am I to assume that a global scale out break of disease/infection occurred which transformed the population in a similar manner to the Rakghoul Plague? It would be helpful if you provided links for me please :)

[member="Tanomas Graf"] fixed :)

[member="Fatty"] I'll do it in bullet points to keep it short and sweet
  • Sanya located sekalus
  • Black rose followed her by been tracked
  • Luss city was attacked by black rose forces and croa (with the virus been present)
  • Sanya and her wife turned the tyran king who had enslaved the population
  • Sanya took the crown to help better the people
    Slavery was made illegal
  • Murder was made illigal
  • Spice was made illigal
  • Miners licence made to secure civilians claims over mines
  • Freedom to travel and communicate with other worlds
  • Plus other laws

[*]Space ring was restored bringing a golden age to sekalus
[*]Temple was restored
[*]Heart of the dark nexus found
[*]Croa virus went extinct and those who had been effected on the world could repopulate
[*]Civilian homes slowly began to be improved
[*]Order of the black rose split off from Sanya's (failed attempt at) leadership thus the begging of the sekallien empire
[*]First order attempted to assault sekalus - sekallien victory
[*]Black tie made threats against the populace and their queen but later left from republic support
[*]Currently in progress - the dark nexus was made
If you want more information just ask and I'll edit it into this post.

[member="Sanya Val Swift"] Unfortunately, I'm not sure that qualifies as a Planetary Catastrophe in this instance. I do not see any physical or socio-economic damage which resulted in mass destruction or deaths. If the virus were still active and harmful on the surface, perhaps I'd stick it on. But with the crisis being resolved, it not longer qualifies as an area of endangerment if someone today decided to roleplay on the surface of Sekalus.

I hope you can understand why it doesn't belong on this list, or provide more evidence to the tangible damages and hazards present on the planet currently. Thank you for the nomination regardless!

[member="Dax Fyre"] was the city notable in canon? In what way was it razed? Orbital bombardment, nuke, etc.?

[member="Judah Dashiell"] as with the question directly above, in what ways were they destroyed? Were they particularly notable?

[member="Charles Bellmont"] glad I could help :)

[member="Yula Knezevic"] Oh shoot! I somehow missed your post, I look into those in a second. Just a question, as I'm not sure about Sekalus. To clarify, is the planet currently a hazard to new comers?

[member="Ignus"], [member="Yula Knezevic"], with the exception of Sekalus until there is more information to warrant it, all planetary catastrophes have been added!
