Private Lit From Within

All the time.

Cora visibly relaxed. Some of the tension in her shoulders eased, and she exhaled a slow, audible breath. So this was something that Valery had struggled with, too. That made her feel less alone.

"I want to do right by Roman," she confessed. "And I'm worried that I'll…ruin him, somehow. I don't think I'll have to pull him off of anyone mid-trial, but…"

You have to be willing to adjust.

Cora's lips pursed in thought. Padawan Vossari had always been easygoing and bright eyed, but lately she'd noticed he'd been more withdrawn.

"I'll do my best. And if I run into anything I'm not sure how to handle, then I'll be sure to come to you. Sometimes, a person on the outside of the situation you're in can see it with more clarity."

Valery watched as Cora visibly relaxed, the tension easing from her shoulders like the weight of her doubts had lifted just enough to breathe. That was good. She had been there before — had worried, had questioned, had doubted. And even now, even after years of teaching, it never fully went away.

It just meant she cared.

She smiled softly. "You're not going to ruin him, Cora. You're doing great, and Roman… he's a good first Padawan to have." Her voice carried quiet certainty, a steady confidence in both Cora and her student. "He listens, he learns, and he trusts you. That's what matters. Keep guiding him, keep being there for him, and one day soon, I'll be standing right beside you at his Knighthood ceremony."

A knowing smirk tugged at her lips as she leaned back slightly. "I definiteky expect a front-row seat."

The warmth in her gaze lingered for a beat before something more playful flickered in her expression. "Now," she mused, tilting her head slightly. "Do you want to practice more Pyrokinesis? Or is there anything else you want to see or learn before we call it a day?"

Valery's encouragement was a balm. A part of Cora still felt like something of an impostor, but now she had something to work towards – Roman's knighthood. She'd no doubt that he'd make a fine Jedi, regardless of his master.

"It feels like only a short while ago when I'd stood before you at my knighting ceremony," she said with a wistful smile. "To think that someday soon, I'll be the one anointing a knight is…"

Cora shook her head, but did not shake the grin from her face. "Of course, you'll have the perfect view of your grand-Padawan."

Valery gave her a choice, and her student gave a brief hum in thought before responding.

"I'm satisfied with what we accomplished here today. I think I'll take some time to study up on pyrokinesis more before I make another attempt. I didn't think that I'd be able to start much of anything." She smiled, giving the grandmaster a more traditional bow.

"Thank you, Master Noble. For always being my teacher."
