Little red and the fuzzy

Scarlet giggled softly as she ewok chattered and sniffed around, clearly new to being so high. "Yea, but even i'm short compared to a lot of humans. Then they'res other species that are way taller than humans will ever get." She looked around, then finslly turned her attention back to her old house once more, a smile of remembrance coming to her face. "You wanna see where I used to live?"

Raky scratched his nose with a paw, thinking about it. Finally, he gave an eager nod and let out a small squeak. The Ewok shifted slightly, sliding off Scarlet's shoulder and down onto her back, clinging to her shoulders and his head rested on his paws as he gave a small smile and purred happily.

Laughing again at how cute he was, Scarlet began to slow walk up the spiral stairs that led up to the main part of the house. Once she reached the top, she looked around. It was certainly different than the last time she had seen it. Vines had crept into the windows, moss covered the floor, and a few saplings had sprouted in the floor. Other than mother nature's renovating, however, it was all the way she had left it so long ago. Looking at a small table, a small smile crept to her face as she saw a book laying on top. "My old diary!" Running over, she picked it up and ran her slender fingers over it.

Raky looked around the dwelling and climbed down off Scarlet's back, dropping with a soft thud onto the floor. Snuffling quietly, he waddled over to a small sapling and poked the stem gently before ripping it out of the floor and eating it. He made a few satisfied grunts as he chewed the sapling and trotted back over to Scarlet, peering up at the book in her hands. Curiously, he began waving his paws in the air at it. "Raky nee! Raky nee!" ('Let Raky see! Let Raky see!')

Scarlet looked at the book for a brief moment before handing it over to the ewok. "Be careful with it okay? It's old and might fall apart easily."

Raky took the book as carefully as he could. He sat down with a thud on the floor, and lifted the book to his nose, sniffing it. When he was done sniffing the diary, he turned it over in his paws and, after a while, figured out how to open it. He flicked through the pages, stroking each one and gazing in wonder at the strange writing inside the book, unable to understand it.

Scarlet watched as Raky tried to read the contents, but to no avail, and smiled softly. Walking over, she sat down next to him and gently took the book away. "You want me to read you some?"

The Ewok looked up at Scarlet with big eyes and nodded eagerly. Shuffling closer to her, he rested his head against her shoulder and purred happily as he lazily scratched his ear.

Scarlet gently patted the little ewok's head, then flipped to a random page. As she did, the pages creaked from age and moisture, but they were still intact.

"Okay, here goes. 'I have been on Endor for about a month now. I already miss my sister back on Dromund Kaas. I relly hated leaving her, but I couldn't deal with all of the pressure I was always put through. Not all is lost though. In my short time here, I have begun to really appreciate the wildlife and forests. Though I've always heard stories of wookiees and ewoks making homes here, I still have yet to see one. However, there's been no shortage of scoundrels looking for a place to lay low, or mercenaries with no moral code whatsoever. It seems that even on a peaceful planet like this, the nature of crime is never too far behind.'" She looked back down at Raky, looking for a response. 'Well? What'd you think?"

Raky gave a small squeak and looked up at her, smiling. "Deffi ni kira hanni ka!" ('Like it! Very interesting!') He chattered his teeth for a while then stood up, waddling round until he stood in front of Scarlet and pressed his paw against his chest. "Ewok!" He extended his paw, pointing towards her eyes before pointing back to himself proudly.

Chuckling softly, Scarlet nodded and smiled. "Yep! I've seen an ewok now, and I know how cuddly they can be!" Being nineteen, she rarely ever had a chance to act like a little girl anymore. She was enjoying this moment of immaturity.

Raky nodded firmly and, as if to confirm it, he waddled forwards and wrapped his arms around Scarlet's neck, snuffling quietly as he hugged the human girl.

Scarlet smiled softy as the ewok hugged her, and gently squeezed him back in return. She was so content at this moment, she could sit there forever. The thought crossed her mind to take him to Coruscant to show him to her friends, maybe he could even help in their cause. She frowned at that though. It wasn't up to her to take him away. He should choose. Pulling away, she looked at Raky. "Hey, what would you say if I took you to a new planet? It's a really fun place to be, lots of places to play and hide. It has..." She tried to think of a way to describe the planet in a way he would understand. "There's massive metal trees that you can live in. Unbreakable, bigger than all of the trees here. You can also fight bad guys. What do you say?"

Raky's already-big black eyes widened as he listened to Scarlet describing the new planet and he stamped his feet on the floor and snuffled in excitement. Then he paused and looked down as he thought about his family - his parents and his brothers and sisters. He had never left Endor and certainly never been away from his family for a long time. But he had dreamed about it. And big unbreakable metal trees and fighting bad guys? The young little Ewok couldn't think of anything more exciting. He looked back up at Scarlet and tugged on her sleeve to get her attention - not that he needed to, but it made him feel important. "Ni tiski ee ma Endor i makini?" ('Raky come back to Endor someday for family?')

"Yes, of course Raky. You can come back whenever you want." Scarlet smiled and ruffled the little guy's hair softly. "You sure you want to leave though? If you have a family, then you don't have to go..."

Raky burbled to himself and clung to her, trying to make it as clear as possible that he wanted to go. He looked up at Scarlet with his big eyes and let out a soft whining noise.

Raky settled himself on her shoulder, wrapping an arm around her neck so he wouldn't fall off, and chattered softly with excitement. He kicked his legs slightly and squeaked in surprise as he almost fell backwards. Steadying himself, he calmed down a bit and sat quietly on Scarlet's shoulder.

Chuckling, Scarlet walked out of the dwelling and toward her ship, which wasn't that far away. The bright red beauty sat in contrast to th peaceful green of the forest, which was a good thing, making it easier to find. Setting the little Ewok down, she began to walk inside. "If I were you, I'd go say goodbye to your family first so they don't worry. Take your time, I'll be here when you're done."

Raky stared in wonder at the red ship. He had never seen anything like it before and it was...beautiful. As he was set down, he reached out a paw and stroked the ship softly as he listed to Scarlet. He looked up at her and nodded slowly, turning and trotting back through the forest towards his tree-village. He needed to pack a few things anyway.
Having located his parents and four of his six siblings, he quickly explained to them what had happened and where he was going. After many hugs and tears, especially from his mother, Raky went to his room and grabbed a little rug. In it, he placed his sling, his journal made from bits of old tree which had been strung together, and several leaves he had been waiting to eat. Tying the rug to a stick, he lifted it over his shoulder and went back out to his family. Finally, after his parents had told him to be careful and to make sure he ate enough - his mother gave him even more food, just in case - Raky waved his paw and snuffled a goodbye. Then, he turned and left the village, trotting back to the ship.
