Lost and Alone (Vulpesen)

Leyan brought her hands to her eyes as she felt Ace's comforting form hop onto her shoulder. She heard one of the men step forward slightly.
"We have no qualm with you, sir. We simply request that you give the girl to us. I promise she will come to no harm while she is with us."
The words the man spoke seemed genuine, and his tone of voice didn't sound menacing or angry. But Leyan didn't want to go with them. She didn't want to go back to a life of imprisonment.
"I will not go with you!"
She cried in a small voice.

Vulpesen stood where he was his tail flicking behind him in minor annoyance. True to his zorren heritage, they'd be allowed the first move. But if it came to it, he would have the last. "She doesn't want to go. Therefore you will not take her. Doing so will violate her freedoms which I cannot allow." Life, Freedom, Unity. He lived by those words and would allow none to be broken so easily while he was nearby.

The man sighed.
"Very well. Then you leave us no choice, Your Majesty. Please understand that this is merely for your own good."
Leyan could hear something being pulled from multiple cloaks. When the first shots were fired, she crumpled to her knees and stayed close to the ground. She kept her eyes squeezed shut as she took Ace in her arms and hugged him to her chest. Please, just let it be over soon!

Vulpesen's eyes flicked open and a snap-hiss sounded at his side as he called his activating saber into hand. Ducking under several shots and deflecting the others into several legs, he would become a fluid ball of black and golden light. He'd dealt with hordes of sith troops. Eight cloaked boys with peashooters would be hard pressed to do much more than annoy him. "Varos!"

And there it was, the reason he had told the girl to close her eyes. As he called to it, the ur-spirit took over him, shifting his body from that of a zorren to a large Vulpine, a Veran Fox to be exact. Suddenly the size of a horse and allowing his saber to deactivate on the ground, Vulpesen would whirl around, using his five tails to sweep them men into the air and away from the girl. It would be his first time to use the Talisman of transformation in combat, but enough practice outside had allowed him to be fairly fast on the draw.

As Leyan lied on the permacrete in a ball with her eyes closed and Ace in her arms, curiosity began to creep into her mind. She knew that Vulpesen had asked her not to open her eyes. But... Surely it wouldn't hurt to peek, right?
Cautiously, Leyan partially opened her right eye. What... WHAT WAS THAT?! Both of her eyes flew open, growing wide with shock. She stared at a massive fox-like creature as it tore the other men apart. Where had it come from? Why was it here? And where was Vulpesen?! As fear began to sink in, she began to think. Vulpesen told her to close her eyes. But he also mentioned "animistic noises". Why would he mention that? Unless..... Leyan let out a small gasp, inaudible over the noise around her.
Unless this creature was Vulpesen. But was that even possible? HOW?! No matter how confusing it was for her, she found that she was not afraid of this creature. If anything, she was in sheer awe of it.

Vulpesen stepped back as the men formed a semi-circle, attempting to overwhelm their new opponent. With any common animal it might have worked, but this was no animal mind. It was simply Vulpesen in a new body. Refocusing himself, he aimed down the center and released a powerful bark. With the ur-fox being a manifestation of the force, there would be no interference in his powers, thereby allowing him to send a powerful blast of the invisible energy and three men while his tails arced over his head, shooting a shower of golden electrical forks at the remaining men. Stepping back to better defend the girl, he still failed to notice that she was watching everything.

It was so spectacular to watch Vulpesen that Leyan almost completely forgot about the men he was protecting her from. She continued to stare with childish wonder as he moved so fluidly. The bark was loud, but its power was magnificent. Everything about the battle had Leyan gawking till the very end.

The remaining men, only three still stood where they were, unable to even take a single shot from their blasters, which were held in their violently shaking hands while Vulpesen growled at them. Soon, the growling would stop and Vulpesen shrunk back down, taking on his human form while a shadow slipped into his clothes around his chest. "Leave, now." As he spoke, his saberstaff leaped back to his hand. "Take your friends, and run."

The men slowly backed away in fear and awe. Before they left, one of them looked at Leyan directly in the eyes.
"More will come for you, Your Majesty. And they will be far less gentle than us."
With that, the three men ran off down the street. Leyan slowly stood up. She looked down at Ace, who had fallen asleep in her arms. How could he have been sleeping through all that?! She'd never felt more awake in her life! She turned to Vulpesen with an astonished expression.
"You're amazing..."
She spoke softly.

Vulpesen turned t face her, a grin on his face. "I thought I told you to close your eyes." He stared bak towards her, placing his saber into his coat. "And besides, you're the one who's apparently royalty. Then again, so am I." He sent a look to Ace who suddenly jumped as if he had been shouted at. After a glare from the smaller companion was sent to him, Vulpesen allowed Ace to stay on the girl's shoulder as he made his way to the space port.
