SPECIAL FEATURES
Scouting and recon is a very important job undertaken by fleets. However so far Firemane had no dedicated craft for the purpose of scouting and reconnaissance. Thus the Lykos, named for a mythical Eldorai spirit, was conceived.
Fitted with advanced scouting and sensor equipment, the Lykos’ role is to range ahead of the main fleet and discover the enemy’s location and plans. It can also scout in other systems and communicate using its hyperwave transceivers.
To protect itself, the Lykos has very few capital guns because it is not expected to get into combat with larger ships. It does have an array of defence guns however for seeing off attack craft, and it is considerably better at this. Naturally though, if encountered by any large ship or robbed of its mobility, the Lykos will not survive long.
Internally the ship can accommodate a dropship and shuttle/fighter. The latter are usually used when a message must be carried in person back to the fleet. There are also life pods for the crew. Since these ships often act independently of a fleet for extended periods the Lykos can carry surprisingly large cargo and keep itself going for six months with its consumables before needing to resupply.
In short the Lykos is a fairly simple picket ship, used to find the enemy so that its bigger friends can destroy said enemy.

SPECIAL FEATURES
- Low profile hull.
- Advanced scanning and sensor equipment.
- Hyperwave transmitter and communicator.
- Speed boosters (included in profile).
- Speedy. The Lykos is faster than almost anything which isn’t a fighter or interceptor. It’s got good agility too, allowing it to rapidly explore space and get out of danger.
- Farsighted. With its array of scanners, sensors and transmitters, the Lykos can seek out enemies and report on them for the benefit of allies.
- Weak. With even weaker weapons than a regular picket ship, the Lykos is not made for engagements. It can handle itself against attack craft, but against corvettes or larger it’ll struggle to do much damage.
- Lightweight. To make it faster, the Lykos is built to be light and agile, but this also makes it weak. A single powerful shot hitting the hull might punch right through. If the Lykos is ever denied room to move it is doomed.
