The 'Desert Storm' system Defense Cruiser has served the Madrugar military for twenty years, and the Madrugar government seems to be in no rush to update it. As a defense cruiser, it fulfills its necessary function. It responds quickly, and disgorges a vast quantity of fighter craft designed to deal with any threat. It can also move troops as needed, either by landing directly itself, or by launching dropships. Its armament is mostly defensive in nature, relying on its fighters for defense as well as offense. The Madrugar field large quantities of these cruisers, which patrol their system and the space around it. Due to this close defense role, the Hyperdrive aboard is a sedentary Class 3. More than enough to get to and from adjacent jump points. Very occasionally, one of these cruisers will be sent on a special mission farther from Madrugar space, but this is fairly rare.
