Mandalorian Culture

"You could say that plus I have been a slave since I was three so they also give me a sense of family and belonging. I have a place here with them and I'm not completely lost though sometimes I feel it. I am a work in progress trying to figure everything out and I mean everything."

She was sure that he had done some things in his life that he wasn't proud of. They all had even her in prison but things were never black and white. She considered now to be a fresh start for her on everything.

"I'm sure plenty of people have done you wrong and I'm sure your tired of running around. You could always settle down here."

Sarkin shook his head.

"No one that has done me wrong is alive any more." "This life, the life I live, is a very unforgiving one." "One that involves leaving nobody around to try again a second time."

Sarkin sighs.

"Yes I some times think about what it would be like to not have to keep moving around so often." "To not have to look over my shoulder every time I turn the corner."

“I better be careful than and make sure that I do not end up on your bad side,” she grinned wishing that she hadn’t drank the whole bottle already. She ought to have savored his booze or brought her own though that would have been very unprofessional. They were off topic but that was alright, she didn’t mind just chit chatting as well. Wasn’t that the way you got to know someone? He seemed like a good fit for this type of lifestyle.

“I still always look over my shoulder for danger but that’s just out of habit now. It’s nice to have somewhere to call home and a bed. Having a bed is very nice. It wouldn’t honestly be like settling down if that is what you worry about. There is a lot of fighting and drinking still here.”

Sarkin chuckled.

"I doubt I would even be able to get any sleep in a normal bed anymore." "I have gotten used to the bunks of a ship over the years."

"Any way it seems we have gotten off topic again." "Sorry you were saying?"

"They are so comfy though or at least I think so after spending years on the floor. It's silly I know but I have always dreamed of having a nice bed, a place to lay my head down." Yup, they were off topic but that happened. She couldn't blah blah on the lifestyle and that the whole time.

"Mandalorian's live by a code called the Resol'nare. The are six pillars to this which are wearing armor, speaking the language, defending yourself and your family, raising your children as Mandalorians, contributing to the clan's welfare, and when called upon by the Mand'alor, rallying to his cause. It's what we live by."

Sarkin nodded.

"I see please continue."

In his mind Sarkin had actually said something more like oh joy another cult of people with their own secret language and everything but decide agianst voicing it out loud.

“It is honestly just that simple. We take care of our own. I have not gone into depth with many of them as of yet. Honestly, I’m still having trouble with the language. It is trickier than you might think but I do have to remember that’s not the only language I’m trying to learn. I’m sticking with the basis for now. I have noticed that we do like our toys a lot.”

She didn’t feel as if she really contributed to the clan as of yet but that was a story for another time. He didn’t need to know how she felt about her contributions. Ana wasn’t much of an engineer so she wasn’t sure she was cut out for all that Az did unless if it was being his secretary or something. Ana could deal with paperwork and people if he needed her to. It would also keep her out of trouble which was something she was sure her older brother would very much like.

Sarkin chuckles.

"So basically I need a secret decoder ring, a map, and a second brain to learn the language?" "I may be a little too old for all that."

Sarkin sighs.

"So what exactly does contributing to the clan's welfare entail?"

"Well, I'm learning two languages at once so that is difficult plus trying to figure out how to survive out here. I'm sure your not too old to learn," she smiled shaking her head slightly.

"We all contribute in some way to the clan. Basically, you have to do something and not just sit on your butt all day. I'll be honest that I'm still trying to find my place. I'm a decent fighter but so is everyone else. I should just settle down and be a farmer." She giggled slightly at the thought of being a farmer. "You share your talents with the clan just like a gang but not so much thug life.."
