Master Vote - Knight Judah Lesan [Masters Only]

Emberlene's Daughter, The Jedi Generalist
I am somewhat in agreement with [member="Valiens Nantaris"] for a no. Rank transfer is one thing and yes the threads got him transferred but much like with George there is not enough substantially here on this site. I don't care about pvp and training isn't for everyone, You don't need those to fill a checklist and his writing is great. The character is there but more of him would be nice, the Army of Light when I first saw him was over two years ago before Selena was grandmaster and that is a portion.

After considering the matter a bit, I vote no.

Personally I don't rate PvP as that important (unless you claim your char is a super duellist or the most powerful mentalist ever, since then some evidence would be nice!).

Sio's first proper duel was long after reaching Master rank, Kaida's consisted of shooting at a Sith with bolter rounds till he stopped moving while she was far away, so I wouldn't count it that much.

As for training threads, well, contrary to popular belief training doesn't have to solely be threads of the somewhat generic 'go to Master X to learn Force Power Y' variety. Anything that tests or challenges a char and forces them to learn new things counts as training. Learning by doing (and getting beaten up a bit in the process) seems the best way to me.

I'd just like to see a bit more character development here. The participation in the threads I checked was a bit on the short side. Master is not just an OOC rank, but an IC one too.

I am not really sure if my vote here counts because of my situation as a DJ and my relative inactivity with the SJO but if not, then at least what I have to say will be considered by Judah, even if promoted.

My vote is no.

My reason is similar to what Valiens stated. I looked through a bunch of threads and found that many of them contain only a tiny fraction of the total combined posts of each thread. Some of the more recent ones for example have only 2-3 posts per thread.

I don't feel there is enough character advancement between his promotion to Knight (even if transferred) and the required development for master.

My advice is to participate more in threads, get more character development going in some form or another before being pushed to master. It doesn't have to be PVP or anything, but genuine character development.

As it stands it is 11 to 7. I will go with whatever is decided, but would like to point some things out.

I actually expected to hear some of my threads were too short. Many of them abandoned by other writers and not myself.

To [member="Valiens Nantaris"] comment about transfers. Those threads have to be included because that is part of his current CD to date. That board is also a 5 rank board and technically I already have earned 4 of 5 ranks there. When I transfered in I was told the only reason I was not getting master was because of the technical title of knight. The admin who handled the transfer at the time was confident the threads were good enough to get master then but didn't want to get in trouble. So there is some context there. He had 4/5 ranks there.

[member="Coci Heavenshield"] up to you, but the vote is pretty divided and I don't want to cause any issues.

By my count, it's only 4 against.

I'll join the Q&A session, since Thurion started it. :p

As his writer, what do you think Master rank would mean and entail for Judah on an IC and OOC level?

:: HERO of KORRIBAN ::
On an ooc level I think I've more than demonstrated the fact I can write a master responsibly. Judah has always been a leader if sorts and if you read through some of the SJO threads you will see where his alt (Relic) took some leadership while our leader was on an LOA that eventually became permanent. This would open up other leadership which actually makes sense to play out IC, but needs to happen ooc to go there if that makes sense. I write for story... meaning Judah's story is weaved into at least 6 other characters, but the tracker only accounts for my one.

IC, Judah does not change much. He takes on more responsibility among the SSC as any master would. He teaches, he leads missions, he supports the faction efforts. Then he goes home to his wife ;). Okay some humor there. There are issues for him to resolve, the loss of a student to the dark side, the loss of his home on Corellia, and learning to make Voss his new home. There is always more to do faction wise. While some see master as the end goal, for me it is a story mechanism. At 48 GSY he's really like a old knight, and so there will also be the struggle of how things change for him as a result at an age where he is pretty set in who he is.

You're certainly not causing trouble. :)

Votes do not need to be unanimous. When all the masters have voted if it's over 50% you will have your name taken up before the RPJs.

I think all the no votes are saying the same thing - you're a great writer, we just want to see more of it.

I don't want to cause trouble though either.
Never worry about causing trouble :) I do it plenty!

Joking aside, that's what the votes are for, nobody is gonna get angry about it if we're outvoted. It's just a means of asking the majority for their opinion on whether he should or should not be promoted. You explained your own reasoning well enough for me, and I can't say your posts are poor quality. They're quite good.

My vote is still no, but I don't think anyone would be angry if you got promoted :)

Another Jedi once said to me, as he said to others:

Don't eff it up ;)

Yes = 9
No = 4
Not voted = 2

out of 15.

I believe we have a majority vote for Yes.

[member="Thurion Heavenshield"] | [member="Valiens Nantaris"] could either of you please take this up to the RPJs for the final decision.

Thankyou.
