Intent: To create another droid based unit for the CIS
Development Thread: no
Manufacturer: Stargo Enterprises

Affiliation: CIS Templars
Modularity: No
Production: Unique (6)
Material: Durasteel
Description:

The Marauder Assault Tank is a reimagining of the Impeding Assault Tank used by the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars. This tank, much like other adaptations of ancient CIS tech, is not controlled by an independent driver but by a droid brain. Said brain is programmed with a masculine personality and also with several files that make the droid capable of becoming aware of an opponents physical attributes, health status and other surroundings and make taunting comments to such. The comments made from the droid are spoken through a voice inhibitor that conjures an extremely demonic voice. The comments made by the droid fit its demonic tone, mostly making statements to the impending doom of the target and giving gruesome descriptions of their death.

Much like the original tank, this droid can burrow its way underground with the multiple sharp feet on its body. Once underground the droid will lie in wait until a target or group of targets passes over or by its position. The droid, using sonar arrays, waits for the targets to get into close proximity before springing into action. The droid emerges from the ground and begins its assault with a devastating armament. The most basic arms attached to the droid are the four claws at the front of the body and around the head. The claws are a thick mixture of a hardened durasteel outershell with duraplast layers underneath to create power and nearly indestructible pincers. When closed, these pincers act to shield the droids head from damage. They are capable of absorbing enormous amounts of small arms fire and even multiple direct rocket hits. When opened, they act as powerful gripping tools that can rip metal from doors, pick up vehicles and slice through organic soldiers. However, when opened, they leave the droids head exposed which is highly vulnerable to small arms and rocket fire. While it would take several upon several of blaster hits to destroy the droid in this manner, a single well placed rocket hit would decimate it.

Also located on the head are a series of spiked tentacles that are used to impale several organic targets at once. When not in combat use, these tentacles can be used to access electronics in the same manner as Astromech droids. Along the length of its body are eight body segments, each segment contains 2 blaster cannons (one on the left and one on the right) and are hidden within the segment and behind durasteel flaps when not in use. On the tail segment is an underbelly landmine layer that contains 12 landmines.

The weaknesses of this droid come into play with its sluggish movements above ground and its easily destroyed legs. On the droid there are 46 legs per segment (23 legs per side of a segment) and each are made of a strong durasteel. While the legs themselves can take small arms fire damage, the joints connecting them to the segments are very weak. Well placed small arms fire can destroy the legs and explosives damage is highly effective. Once more than half the legs on a segment are destroyed, or one side of legs is destroyed, the droid is programmed to detach the damaged segment to allow it combat effectiveness. However, when it looses a segment is looses the capability to use all weapon on said segment and any segment below it. The only segment not detachable is the “head” segment which is the first 46 legs plus the head. Another major weakness is the fact that the droid is blind to what is not directly in front of its vision unless it is actively using sonar or picks up the sound of a target not in front of it. Lastly, the under belly of the droid is highly vulnerable to weapons fire of all types, though it can withstand damage.

  • 57 meters is gigantic. The AT-AT walker is only 20 meters long. 7 meters height is extremely tall, the M1Abrams tank is only 2.6 meters tall. Edit to reflect these dimensions, or make it minor produced.
  • 16 blasters is a lot for this death machine. Are these repeating blaster cannons? rotary? Or more like an average E-11 carbine. If they're like an E-11 you get 16. If they're repeating blasters like the T-21 you only get 8. (only if you keep it mass produced)
Besides that, I like it.

Okay, that's a laser cannon. There's a big difference between blaster and laser cannon. Blasters can kill infantry. Lasers can kill infantry and hurt vehicles.

I would accept two of these anti-personnel cannons on the head of the tank and 8 regular blasters on the segments. Or you can have 16 regular blasters. Your pick.
