- Medium Armored Vehicle: The Claymore is a robust repulsorlift assault vehicle capable of reinforcing infantry units, acting as independent assets, or working in tangent with atmospheric ships to launch devastating attacks on enemy formations with brutal efficiency.
- Variants: The Claymore, unlike its predecessor, has much more room for modulation. Beyond the standard configuration, there are configs for APC, Indirect Fire, and Heavy Tanks variants of the Claymore. Each one fulfills a specialized task, and it isn't uncommon to see multiple variants working together on the battlefield.
- No Shields: Like the CAT Mk. I, the Claymore doesn't possess any shields and instead relies on reinforced armor and damage mitigating technology to survive.
- Turret-Mounted Weapons: All of the Claymore's weapons are mounted on its turret, meaning that it can only attack in the direction the turret is facing. Simultaneous flanking attacks can cause havoc for the CAT if pulled off successfully.
As the Military-Industrial Complex of the Sith Empire grew, so too did its technological advancements and improvements to existing vehicles of war. While the Sith-Imperial Combat Assault Tank was a versatile and reliable infantry-support transport, there was research into improving upon the design for the era after the collapse of the Galactic Alliance.
The Sith-Imperial Combat Assault Tank Mark II, also known as the MAVr (Medium Armored Vehicle - Repulsor) Claymore-class Repulsortank, was the next technological step in the Empire's tank design.
Outfitted with the same, albeit internally upgraded, weapon systems as the Mark I, the Claymore stood to eventually replace the Mark I across all areas of the Empire. What made it truly distinct was its capacity to be modified into several pre-determined variants.
The APC (Armored Personnel Carrier) Configuration featured an extended squad compartment, removed the primary turret weapons, and replaced them with three antipersonnel missile pods.
The Indirect Fire Configuration completely replaced the squad compartment, allowing more room for an extendable verticle launching system and two antipersonnel missile pods.
The Heavy Tank Configuration extended the back hull for an extra reactor and capacitor, completely removing the squad compartment in the process, and featured a lone heavy single-barrel turbolaser cannon.
