Maybe, it's a trap?

Wirch Bicket

Prepare for my Arrival...
"The Nagai is a dangerous opponent, well trained, but should not be trouble to a person with your abilities. The Twi'lek is a more strategic slow fighter, while the Nagai prefers speed and simplicity. I would suggest that you plan an attack of strategy for the Nagai, and then fight hard and fast to overwhelm the the Twi'lek. Does that answer your question?"

Wirch had thought this through before, but he could never imagine himself defeating either of the guards. They were young and Wirch regrettably was aging. He had little hope in a dual between them. But he was positive the man before him could take these two without too much trouble.

(Sorry for not responding for so long.)

Taking out the two bodyguard seemed simple. The Twi'lek would be easy, like Wirch said, Iris would strike fast and hard hitting. Luckily for Iris, this was his preferred fighting style anyway. However with the Nagai, he would have to be kept alive. Also like Wirch had said, Iris would have to think of a plan to attack the Nagai and disable him, without any killing.

"The commanding officer," Iris started, looking back at Wirch, "you don't want him alive do you?". If Wirch didn't, Iris' job would be easier, he could kill both the high priority target (The commanding officer) and the Twi'lek in rapid succession and then move on to disabling the Nagai. Though this plan was only in it's beginning stages, Iris hoped he'd get more time alone to finalise this plan of attack.

"All I need is his Identity Band, which is around his wrist. I need that and that alone from my commanding officer." Wirch continued in thought, "Blast that insufferable fool. He is no officer. He should never have been promoted, if only I hadn't been passed over those years ago."

"Sounds easy." Iris responded, fairly confident that this mission would go smoothly. The only way this wouldn't be the case was if Wirch's information wasn't reliable. But Iris was also confident this information was correct, from what Iris had gathered, Wirch was professional. And someone like Wirch would just launch a mission if he wasn't sure the info wasn't 100% accurate.

"When do we get started?" Iris asked, excitement filled his body. He had to done a job in a while, and this would be a good one.

"Immediately. Unless, you require any equipment from your ship." Wirch looked questioningly at Iris. Wirch had planned this for so long, never once letting slip his intent to any. He had felt his mind burn with anger and with pain as he silently allowed all to believe that he was a simple warrior, that he had no true strategy. Finally, at long last he would right the wrong, he would fix the mistake of his superiors, and he would strengthen Relovian. Wirch was a truly loyal commander, loyal to his homeworld and nothing could change that. Let the galaxy burn, Wirch would only weep for Relovian.

He remembered the day he was set to be promoted. He had been taking utmost care that there was no chance of a Red Striker invasion during the time. But when he arrived, the ceremony had been changed. No longer was he to be promoted, but an incompetent fool who had friends in high places. Wirch held that day in his mind at all times. From that day to this, he had crystallized his plan to perfection. If he could show the world what he had planned for Relovian, they would welcome his leadership. But he could not hope to be welcomed by the current leadership. All he had planned, and no one could know, until Wirch was prepared. This was the first step, the first of many, but with it he would begin his path to protecting his world from any harm.

"I should be okay with what I got." Iris replied after a long pause. Distracted by the thoughts of what lay ahead of him, he almost forgot to answer Wirch. From what Wirch had said, this mission could ever either be extremely easy, or terribly hard.

But what was even more distracting than the mission was the reward. The thought of getting a new blade was the driving point of what Iris was doing. He hoped the blade would be high quality, maybe even lightsaber resistant material. Though this was unlikely, it didn't really matter what it was made of, as long as it lasted enough time for Iris to craft a new one.

The purpose of this job was still a mystery though. Iris had often seen Wirch scrunching up his face when mentioning the commanding officer. The hatred towards him was apparent. But alas it wasn't Iris' place to ask about this sort of stuff.

"Good then...." Wirch turned apparently to walk out the door, but he must have changed his mind. He turned back to Iris, "Are there any questions you have? I will not hide anything from you." He paused, then continued wanting to explain further. "To be truly efficient, a team must not hide anything from each other."
His true reason though was not said, that his conscious was guilty and he felt it weigh heavy on his heart. He had not wished to kill anyone, even less a commanding officer, but his hand had been forced. No one else would take the initiative and fix the problem and so Wirch has to take control and rectify the situation. Why could they not see it? He had fought hard and long for his people, while the commander was but a idiotic child. What else could he do? The promotion had been given, there was no way to change that. He had thought that his mind had been set, but obviously not. He felt himself questioning his decision. His resolve was wavering, maybe he had not made the right choice. Maybe he should not follow this through. Maybe he should break off the attack and figure out how to go about this in a more civilized manner..... No..... He could not turn back now. His foot was set and forever after he would live with the consequences. He was not making this decision out of greed, but out of necessity.

Silence erupted in the room as Iris thought about if Wirch had forgot anything. It didn't seem like the mercenary needed anymore information, he didn't care about Wirch's reasons, his feeling towards the commanding officer. All Iris cared about was completleing the job, and getting the payment.

"I good." Iris stated before sliding his sword, that had been lying on the desk back into its sheath. He was as ready as he'd ever be, ready to take on this task that lay ahead, ready to take down the outpost.

"Good. Then let's get top side. We should already be near enough the base to see it." Even as he spoke, a whistle could be heard overhead. Then load voices and the sound of feet running to and fro on the deck. A large object could be heard moving overhead and Wirch smiled as he heard this. It appeared that the enemy was near enough to have been spotted by the crew. Maybe the fighting would already begin and all the men were looking forward to the chance of big action.

Even as the men above worked, a large thudding sound could be heard. It was followed by a sharp whistle and the sound of a landslide nearby. Either the enemy had started firing or the crew had gotten ahead of themselves and wasted a shot. Either way, the fight had begun and any opportunity of surprise had been lost. The smile on Wirch's face disappeared and was replaced by a concerned frown.

Wirch's ship came alive with the crew running from position to position doing their jobs. Admist the movement and shouting of the crew, Iris could here something moving above them, what it was, he didn't know. But from the look on Wirch's face, he did. Next Iris could hear a loud thudding sound and following that a high-pitched whistle. Looking back over towards Wirch, the mercenary saw that his smile had disappeared, whatever the thudding noise was it displeased Wirch.

Iris was curious on what all these sounds were, and he hoped the mission hadn't gone haywire already. With his ship back at the landing pads there wouldn't be much chance of Iris escaping is he needed to. He was also stripped to his bare minimum, his old damaged swords and the rags on his back were all he had.

Prepare for my Arrival...
"Alright, time to go. Get up top and keep your head down." Wirch's face suddenly tensed with preparation. He slipped a gun from the compartment in the desk into his holster, and began to walk out the door. He was sure that Iris would follow, so he did not look back. He threw his hat off onto the table, not wanting to have to worry about it during the fighting that would soon ensue. He had planned to be a little closer before the crew began firing, but above him could be heard loud explosions followed by yells and the sound of heavy wheels moving over metal.

He passed the marine at the door giving a quick salute while the man clicked his heels and tried to further straighten his already dead straight back. Wirch barely spent any time listening to the captain as he tried to get Wirch's attention. Something about the enemy firing at extreme range and fortunately missing us the first few shots. Then he said that they were still far out of range of the center to return fire. "Tell the Cannons to prepare to fire, keep the men busy, and find them their instruments." Wirch barked the orders quickly and without much thought. Those were commands he had had to repeat many times before. It was never during a good raid that he would have to say those words, but he felt that this would be a success whether or not they fired first or not.

He was on deck in a moment, looking forward at the center from which smoke was pouring and loud thuds began to be heard. On deck could be clearly heard the whistling of the shots as they passed overhead or nearby. Then the sound of one smashing into the deck could be heard. Metal bent and was smashed, a gun crew was torn to pieces by the explosion that ensued. He turned and yelled over the sudden sounds of cannon fire from on deck, "Prepare yourself, Iris. We will be reaching the fort in a few minutes at worst."

Iris followed Wirch as he left the room, but soon after leaving his ears were bombarded by the deafening sounds of exploisions and the crew yelling. From his position, Iris could tell who was firing, but soon enough his queries were answered by Wirch barking orders at the captain.

Now Iris and Wirch were on the deck, the sounds of the ships own cannons firing was overwhelming. The ship approached the fort quickly. Each second the assault continued, the ship traded shots with the fort. Eventually the inevitable happened and the ship was hit. Following the sound of the impact was the shaking of the entire ship, it only lasted a second but it still caused Iris, along with a few of the crew to stumble.

Recovering from the stumble, Iris heard Wirch's voice over the battle that was happening, "Prepare yourself, Iris. We will be reaching the fort in a few minutes at worst.". A blend of fear and excitement enveloped the mercenaries body. It was time.

Iris' response was only one work, "Good.".

Prepare for my Arrival...
Time seemed to slow down as the approach became choked in smoke. The battle-platform had entered a cloud of smoke that had accumulated from all the firing of the guns. Wirch could hear the pounding of the enemy guns, firing round after round, some hitting the ship but most simply passing overhead with a whistle. He felt the shattering of the ship as the enemy fire smashed in the front of the ship's hull. He hoped that the old girl would last long enough.

"Keep steady. When we take this post, everything will be much easier." He thought and then continued in thought the plan he had for the defeat of his superior. However, his thoughts were interrupted when he realized that the captain was yelling at the gun crews to continue firing. He raised his voice to be heard above the din, "Belay that captain! Hold fire until we pass these clouds!" He got the feeling that it might be a little bit longer, but interestingly he could hear the enemy cannons getting louder. They had been moving quicker than he had expected. Within the next minute they would be right on top of the enemy post and would have to begin a land assault.

Turning to the marine that had taken post at Wirch's side, Wirch commanded, "Get the Marines ready for a ground fight. You have 30 seconds now go!" With that the man scurried off with a salute.

Wirch hardly gave Iris a thought, as there was so much on his mind and he expected Iris to be ready.
