Meeting the Master

This is where they told her to be. This is where they told her to meet him. This person, [member="Ryn'Dhal"] , who was maybe going to be teaching her. She thought the maybe part in. What if he didn't like her at all and ended up not wanting anything to do with her? What if she was just not good enough to be taught by anyone? The thoughts that ran through the eight-year-old's mind weren't settling at all. The atmosphere was nice enough, though. She was told to wait out in the courtyard. Some people could be seen doing things around her. For example, there was an older man trying to get a little girl, younger than Lily even, to try meditating or something. Nearby a couple of older teenagers were examining each others lightsabers. All in all, it seemed nice.

Her dad told her not to bring her stone, but she did anyway. Rubbing the backside of it she remembered when she was given it. Her dad had given her it when she started learning here. It was to help her when she was nervous, which was a lot. For example, that moment. She rubbed the smooth backside of the rock and it just helped. She wasn't sure why. She had her hair tied back in a nice braid, to keep it out of her face, and she just stood there, waiting.

The young Knight was striding through the courtyard, his loyal M1 unit trundling along behind, warbling inquisitively beside it's master. The masked individual could be heard laughing, the sound almost musical in nature. His sounds, his tones, his aura, and even his very stride, a stark contrast to the dark visual he portrayed. Pausing in his walk, conveniently not more than a few yards away from the youngling he was destined to help guide in this grand universe, he turned and knelt to address his droid companion.

"No Emvee... you see, everyone has a job. Everyone. Just like yours is to help me to ensure I don't make a Hyperspace jump into the center of a star or a planet's surface, mine will be to teach this young padawan. You take great joy, great pride in what you do, correct?" To which the droid rocked from one leg to other, trilling merrily at the statement. "As will I, in my task of training this young one. She too will have a job, did you know?" He'd ask, his rather minimalist mask angling slightly, regarding his droid affectionately. The droid gave a low tone of wonder at the statement. "Yes, she will." The masked Jedi concluded with a firm nod.

Turning that mask towards the child, at this range she could see his eyes through those thin slits in his mask. They were a striking hue not unlike molten gold, bright and shimmery. They seemed to draw ones curiosity, exhibiting keen intellect within. He was intimidating and comforting in the same breath, as he turned in his kneeling position to face the young [member="Lily Tuttle"]. "Yes, Lily's job is to learn. And I am confident that she will excel in her given task. Don't you think so?" He would ask, his masked face angling slightly towards one shoulder. She would feel comfort, warmth, and even a smile, seemingly radiating from his very being. "I am Knight Ryn'Dhal, and I do believe, I am to be your teacher, young one."

There was no negativity in his voice, or his mannerisms. He hoped he was received as warm, and inviting, to this child. Trust, especially from one so young, can be a fickle thing. It is either easily given, or difficult to obtain. So he strove greatly to make sure this first impression was the best one he could muster, as one never got a second chance, at a first impression.

"So what do you say, Padawan Lily. Do you wish to learn?"

The first thing Lily noticed was his mask. It was odd and it hid his face. She didn't know what it was about him, but something made her more interested in whatever he had to say to her. Something made her more curious than her father would have raised her to be. Something made her more curious than she considered good for her. Quickly she quit rubbing her rock, she didn't really want to draw attention to it. No one would have wanted to draw attention to the fact that that they were so nervous they were rubbing a rock.

Though he was talking to his droid and Lily knew she probably shouldn't have been listening, she still did. When he addressed her however, Lily become her usual shy self. Knight [member="Ryn'Dhal"] seemed nice enough, but Lily was consciously trying to be cautious, just like she was raised to be. She allowed herself to study him, watching for something that might scream 'run away'. Nothing proved to be just that. Almost everything radiating from him screamed smile.

Though, when he asked if she wanted to learn, she wasn't exactly positive how to answer him at first. "Um, yes, sir." She tried. She hadn't quite figured out when to call someone master and not sir. For the first few years of her life, Lily had called everyone sir or ma'am, but within the past few years she learned that she might need to call some people master. It was quite confusing.
