Mine Your Own Business

Heston turned his chair slightly "We are the crew, kid." Heston laughed then turned back to the controls and lifted the ship off of the ground, bound for space. As soon as he left the atmosphere, he punched in the coordinates for the mining station. He activated the Mockingbird's hyperdrive and they were off.

The mockingbird exited hyperspace, the mining satellite in their view. It was a large asteroid with multiple hangars and structure sticking out of it. No ships would be seen in the area only rocks and various other debris floated in space around it.
Samuel got a strange feeling as they approached, he thought it might be the force trying to tell him something. He closed his eyes and tried to reach out to anything on the satellite, but he felt nothing.

Heston dons his headset and broadcasts over all frequencies, "Hello? Someone, anyone respond." Heston looks to [member="Samuel Culban"], "We'll try and raise somebody over the comms. We'll go in for a landing after a few attempts."

"It says on the holonet says this place has been abandoned for decades. I don't know why a signal would be coming from this place now." Samuel said as he sat in his chair looking at the old asteroid.

"Somebody had to have activated that distress beacon. I intend to find out." Heston leaned in and continued to transmit across all frequencies in hopes of finding someone, "This is Captain Duke Heston of the Mockingbird. Hello? Someone, anyone respond."

Stepping out of his ship, Cato heard a message being broadcasted over the local channels.

"This is Jedi Master Cato Marek, I hear you. I'm on board the mining station, did you hear the distress beacon too?"

The oddness of the situation seemed to grow greater on him as he tried to think of a reason that such a signal would come from a long abandoned mining station.

Heston's face lights up as he gets a response and then realizes the severity of the situation if there's a jedi around. He buries all doubts he may have and responds.

"I read you, Jedi Master [member="Cato Marek"]. Did you put out the distress beacon, Are you okay?"

Heston then turns to [member="Samuel Culban"]. "I told you we'd find someone."

"I didn't put out the distress beacon, Sir. I'm in a hangar bay, haven't headed inside yet, so I don't really know the situation."

The more the merrier, he supposed. If this situation turned out dangerous, then he could use the help.

A Jedi Master, maybe this wasn't a coincidence. Master Culban told him to be cautious of the Jedi because of what he called their "narrow" view of the force. 'You must keep a balance of light and dark.' Master Culban used to tell him. If you lean too far into the darkness, it will consume you. Lean too far into the light, it will blind you. Maybe this Jedi would teach him something, he didn't think him being here was a coincidence.

"That's good for us then." He replied to [member="Duke Heston"] trying to sound enthusiastic.

He hoped the Jedi wouldn't detect his connection to the force, Mr. Heston didn't know yet and he'd hate for him to find out in the wrong way.

Heston chuckles "I'd take it with a grain of salt, Jedi are nice to have around but sometimes they draw a crowd you don't wanna be around." Heston begins flipping switches and turning dials as he continues to speak, "From the looks of it, it's just us and him."

The Mockingbird enters the hangar, Heston spots the Jedi's ship as he lands "Ain't she a beaut."

"Let's see if we have any atmosphere before we do anything."

Samuel thought that Mr. Heston finding out he was a force user was inevitable, especially with a Jedi Master here. He retrieved his backpack from the foot of his co-pilots seat and put it on his lap.

"Before we go, there is something you should know." He said as he began going through his backpack.

"Not quite, but close. I'm no Jedi, but I am a force user. I didn't want to tell you at first because, I didn't know how you'd react. And I really needed a ride to Alderaan. I'm sorry I lied to you."

Samuel moved some stuff around in his backpack and retrieved the lightsaber he'd constructed on Teth. The hilt was constructed from a silver metal and had a brown leather grip. It looked clean, not having the wear of battle yet. He stood up and clipped the hilt to his belt.

Heston scoffs, "I should get into gambling." Heston then assumes a power stance "You're looking at Commander Duke Heston of the Galactic Republic." Heston then returns to a normal stance. "You don't have to lie to me. I try to help everyone I can, why do you think I offered you 5 credits for bread on Nar Shaddaa?"

Heston approaches the ramp of his ship and his eyes steady on a monitor, "This station's still got atmosphere. With luck like this, I really gotta start gambling."

Heston hits a button causing the ramp to hiss as steam is released and turns his head to face [member="Samuel Culban"], "I hope you know how to use that thing."

Heston chuckles "Because I left your blaster on Nar Shaddaa."

A fair distance away from the mining satellite, Rorke Sueban sat inside the cockpit of his Pursuer-Class Enforcement Vessel. All systems were powered down to avoid detection and from the darkness of space he observed the mine through the glass cockpit. Rorke had been tracking a bounty in this area for less than a day, what he knew is that his target traveled this area between Nar Shaada and Alderaan. Bastard he was after was a known slaver, had an old Zygerian freighter meant specifically for transporting slaves.

The Bounty was a Duros individual, kidnapped the wrong person, caught the attention of some very rich and dangerous people and now Rorke was after him. The target was wanted alive, Rorke thought about what he'd do if he took his bounty off of a full trader, the slaves would do what? Pilot the ship back to Nar Shadaa? The ship could probably be tracked by the main source of the slaver ring. Though, it wasn't really his problem, it was the slaves fault for being captured after all.

Just then, Rorke spotted a freighter approaching the mine. Too small to be a slaver ship, had to be a good Samaritan reacting to the distress signal, same reason Rorke found the place, the two ships were just there for much different reasons. It would be best to let these fools be scouts for him, if there was a trap ahead, they'd step into it first and Rorke could clean up the mess.

As soon as the freighter docked, Rorke readied his gear and powered up his vessel. He slowly flew it toward the hangar bay and pulled up staying out of view then latched his ship onto the side of the mine right above an auxillary hatch to the maintenance tunnel of Hangar 2B. Rorke puts his last piece of gear on, his T-visor Mandalorian helmet before disembarking from his ship

"I can handle myself. The blaster was more for show anyway." Samuel replied as they exited the ship into the hangar.

The hangar was big enough to fit about four large cargo ships. Old mining equipment would be scattered around the hangar collecting dust. The facility still appeared to have power as the lights were on and the life support systems would still be operational.

He thought it was strange that the reactor would still be operational after all these years. He'd assume they would shut off the reactor when they abandoned the facility to avoid it overloading.

The two men exited the Mockingbird and walked over to the Jedi's ship.
