"A few minutes please." Kurt said as she directed her attention towards Jamie, entirely ignoring the young Zeltron woman and focusing instead on the girl he loved.

A few years ago that might have been an entirely different story, hell, a few months ago it probably would have, but right now he was more focused on Jamie and the problem she was having. There was no doubt in his mind that she was feeling guilty, perhaps a bit hurt, but mostly confused. He could see it on her expression. He frowned slightly and squeezed her hand once again as the Human Waitress nodded and turned away from them, sauntering over to another table.

"I don't know, babe." Kurt answered honestly.

"It's something you'll have to ask Keira when you get back." Kurt was no expert at the force, they both knew that. "But it worked out alright, we're alive."

He smiled, reassuring her.

"Mhm." She said with a small nod. It wasn't like she expected Kurt to know what she was talking about. But simply talking about it certainly helped at least a bit. As the waitress wandered towards another table Jamie slid out from her side of the booth and next to Kurt, kissing his cheek. "We're alive. Yes." Jamie kissed his shoulder and rested her head against Kurt for a moment, shifting only to see the menu down on the table which she promptly flipped open to an array of dishes, of which both breakfast and lunch looked to be served all day long.

A drawn sigh signaled her contemplation of choices to order, eyes shifting from side to side as she read each option. Surprisingly there were a number of things that seemed relatively universal in terms of availability. That gave the blonde a fall-back choice in case nothing else seemed appetizing.

"You know, when I was helping you back to the boat, what did you mean about a home not on The Messa?" That was likely not a fair question to ask, as she was aware of his state when he suggested it, and might very well not remember saying such anymore. Still, curiosity always got the better of her, even if it was inappropriate to excuse herself with that reasoning.

He looked surprised for a moment.

The idea had originally come to him a few weeks back, when he and Kaile had settled up on deciding what to do with the loot they'd gathered from the Bunker.

He had meant to talk to Jamie about it of course, though not quite so soon. Perhaps in his delirious state he had let it all slip, his thoughts not quite contorlled and his ideas running away from him. he frowned slightly, shifting in place and fidgeting with the hand that wasn't holding Jamie's. He drew back slightly, eyeing the menu for a moment before returning his attention to something Jamie. There wasn't really avoiding the topic, especially since it was quite a big deal, he knew that Jamie wouldn't want to leave it alone.

"I told you Kaile and I found something that will get us a little bit of money. It's more then enough to fix The Messa, more then enough to make it so I don't have to work for the next year or so actually." He frowned for a moment, how best to continue.

"I don't want you to think you have to follow me around." He stopped again, the continued. "On The Messa I mean. I don't expect you to always want to live there...it's not for everyone, it's not really a home and I know every time we see each other we can't just go on trips. That's not real...that's not...okay. So I was thinking, I can take some of the money and buy a home somewhere. Someplace nice were we can all feel at home, someplace that doesn't move around."

Everyone needed a home base.

Well that was unexpected.

"I see." She said quietly. Jamie lifted her free hand and brushed back a few locks of hair behind her ear, but held her hand at the side of her head to partially block Kurt from seeing her face while she looked down at the menu. How to feel about any of that she had no idea. He'd told her about the find, yes, but there was a lot going on that he hadn't told her of apparently. Now she felt almost guilty asking about it. Karma was a funny thing. The curve-ball question was returned by a home-run answer. Kurt planned on acquiring a house somewhere. That subject was something they had only very briefly talked about just a day ago. It seemed though like he had already had this planned for some time.

Jamie's chest rose and fell as she remained quiet, her hand remaining in place, eyes down at the table though not really reading the menu anymore. Was she supposed to feel flattered? For some reason she didn't feel that way. Something tugged at her mind that sprung up a dozen more questions that she wasn't sure she wanted the answers to. Would either answer make her feel any better than the other? She really wasn't sure. Asking those questions would almost certainly spark an argument.

Well, great. Now what?

He paused for a moment, obviously sensing her reaction.

"Look." Kurt began. "It's not like you have to move in entirely, or be there all the time."

He didn't want to pressure her into anything, or push her to do anything she didn't want to do. His heart skipped a beat suddenly as he thought that he might have made a mistake. Something like this, the very notion of it was completely foreign as an idea to him. Moving in with someone, being together, it was a commitment, not one that he wanted to force on Jamie, and truthfully not one that he thought he was forcing on her. He knew that she had training to complete, and he couldn't stay sitting forever either.

"It's just so when I do see you, when I get the chance...we won't always have to travel. We don't have to go camping each time or squeeze into my bunk on The Messa. It's somewhere we can go and things won't be so crazy that we have to plan everything on the fly." He had thought it was a good idea.

Wasn't it?

"It's not that." She said, now realizing that it was entirely impossible to avoid the subject of her worry. "I do want to see you, and going someplace more stationary is fine and all." How am I supposed to say this? The blonde rolled her eyes, more to her own stupidity for raising the subject at all than anything Kurt had said. "I know I wouldn't have to be there all the time. I couldn't be. That's not..."

She sighed, wishing more than anything to simply skirt the conversation. She didn't want to ask it, she didn't want to know the answers. Worst of all, she knew Kurt wasn't going to like or feel comfortable being asked it. There was simply no good to come of it.

"Maybe it's best to forget I said anything." Jamie let her hand fall back to the table, skimming the menu. The knot filled with anxiety in her chest was starting to grow again.

He frowned. "Then what's the problem?"

Kurt didn't understand.

The issue was of course fairly obvious, it just simply didn't occur to him, mostly because he'd never been in this situation before. In fact, all of this was entirely out of his territory of knowledge. He had thought the proposal was entirely suitable, exciting even, he'd thought that she'd jump at the chance. He knew that part of Jamie romanticized the idea of traveling with him, of seeing the stars, he knew she liked the thought, but he also knew that something more solid would serve both of them better.

A house, a home that they could return to was something solid.

It was like a promise, something that said they always had something to go back to, something they could go to when no other plans were made and no other ideas were had. It was...it would be something that they could share, something that they could think about when traveling the galaxy or training to understand the force.

The girl shifted about in her seat uncomfortably. The train was about to go off the rails in a very public place and there was little more she'd be able to do if that were the case. "Could we maybe sideline this for later?" Her eyes looked over and up at Kurt. She knew that the discussion was going to be tense and likely painful to have. A restaurant in public was hardly the place she wanted to have that kind of talk. "Like with less people around?"

If he pressed the issue she'd have little recourse but to lay it out for him. It was her own fault really. She put herself into a corner with little way out of the conversation less Kurt was willing to forget about it for the time being. After the drama that had occurred the day before the last thing she needed was to have a bit of a confrontation with the one she cared most for.

He frowned slightly, his head shaking as if he didn't understand. On the one hand he wanted to press the issue and see what was wrong, his own curiosity and frustration with the issue making it rather difficult not to press Jamie for further details. On the other hand he could see what she was uncomfortable. She was fidgeting in her seat slightly and it looked like she was ready to tear her hair out. A frown settled on his lips, and finally he let out a loud sigh.

"Okay." Kurt shook his head again.

The courier wasn't done with the subject, far from it, but he could respect her wishes. He would be thinking about it while they ate, and probably even after that, but he knew that pressing the issue would only lead to more fidgeting, if not a straight out fight.

He didn't want that.

"We'll talk about it later." Kurt said as he reached out and once again grabbed her hand. "But it's not something I want to leave alone forever."

Jamie closed her eyes and let out a long, relieved breath. "Thank you." She said, opening her eyes once more and smiling slightly. Anywhere but a public place would be better. She knew the subject was going to turn sour one way or the other. The embarrassment of having an audience was one she wouldn't be able to stomach. Shame was one of the few things that broke her entirely.

"Later. Away from here." At least that would give her time to think of what to say.

With that she was able to focus again on looking at the menu. Something basic and light would be good. Hungry but not wanting to overdo it, she decided on a single chocolate layered waffle with a side of toast, jam, and a side of breakfast potatoes. The fruit sounded nice, though the price for such luxury was a bit overwhelming. The tourist world knew what travelers would be after, and drastically rose the price of those amenities accordingly. Fruit was certainly no exception.

Kurt nodded his head.

He didn't like waiting, not when it was something as important as this, but he understood that Jamie wasn't exactly comfortable in talking about it right now. Ultimately, that was important to him too. Pressing the issue would only make it worse, and he didn't want to fight, especially not here.

So for the time being he would ignore it, put it in the back of his mind and simply focus on something else. "I think I'll just have an omelette."

It wasn't much, but his stomach likely couldn't handle much more.

Staying still was helping his back quite a bit, that plus the cool breeze from the ocean was helping him cool off which in turn was helping him adjust better to his wound. He enjoyed the feeling of calm and stillness that descended in the room, most of the people within the restaurant being quiet enough that Kurt couldn't even hear them.

It would seem the waitress had a sixth sense, as the moment Kurt had spoken his decision she re-appeared, datapad in hand and ready to take their orders.

"You two have any questions or are you ready to order?" There was a pleasantry to this woman's tone, one without the insinuation of ulterior motives that the Zeltron had presented earlier. Jamie flashed a smiled to both Kurt and the woman, giving her a nod to signal they were ready to go. "I think we're all set." A few taps on the datapad and she looked first to Jamie. "What'll ya have miss?" Looking down at the menu she had held her finger on the spot so not to forget what it was she was going to choose and look like a fool.

"I'll take a single chocolate waffle with a side of toast and potatoes." Frankly the potatoes sounded the best part. She had some kind of strong desire for potatoes all of a sudden, and the more she thought about it the more she wanted them.

"Very good!" Turning towards Kurt she'd ask the same of him. "And for you, sir?"

"I'll just take an omelette." That was really the only thing he could think to stomach. His eyes falling off the menu as he folded the bit of cardboard and handed it to the waitress. She said something else, though Kurt didn't really hear it. His mind was already focused on something else, mostly what Jamie had said.

He couldn't help himself.

It would have been best to ignore it, to push it to another part of his mind, but in all honesty it plagued him. Why wouldn't she be excited? Why wouldn't she want to move in with him? Or rather, why wouldn't she want to have a place to go. Kurt couldn't understand it, and that bothered him. He fidgeted in his seat slightly, shifting so that instead of intently staring at Jamie he could look at the scenery around them. He watched some of the waitresses, observed the kitchen, then eventually regarded one of the large windows at the end of the restaurant.

The view outside was beautiful, showing the ocean and some of the distant islands.

He tried to focus on that view, push other thoughts out of his head.

"Great! Thanks! I'll be back soon with your meals." She gave a small bow of the head and trotted back off to service other patrons. Jamie looked at Kurt for a moment. His eyes wandered everywhere except to her. It was obvious to her what he was doing. She used to do the very same thing when she was upset with her family, yet pretending that everything was OK. The blonde slid out from Kurt's side of the table and returned to her own, unsure of what exactly to say. The options were limited, say what was on her mind and spark the argument now, or continue waiting and leave the two sitting in this awkward funk for the entirety of breakfast.

Deciding it better to try and reduce the growing tension rather than sit in silence and stare out past one another for the next thirty minutes Jamie spoke up. "I told the officer where we had made our camp, and the pair of islands we were on. He said he would have a couple of his people retrieve it for us if they could find it." A short, awkward pause lingered in the air. "So that's good."

He frowned for a moment, then smiled.

That was some good news at the very least. "I hope they can find my blaster."

Talking was good, memories were better. It would at the very least help to distract from the feeling in the pit of his stomach. For some odd reason he felt like Jamie was about to tell him that the two of them would no longer work out and he would have to find his home back to The Messa. That was preposterous of course, they had just spend the entire night closely knit together in a hospital bed cuddling. He very much doubted she would leave him just because of what he had brought up.

Right?

"It was my dad's." Kurt said as he explained. "It's not a huge deal...but it means something."

That made her wince. The weapon he'd lost had sentimental, irreplaceable value. That meant they had to get it back somehow. After all, it was her fault he had lost it to begin with. Had she not slapped the blaster away when he attempted to shoot the animal none of this would have happened. They would still be lying on the beach, enjoying the weather, exploring.

"I'll go back and find it if they can't. It's important to you. I don't want it lost because of me."

She smiled, more so to help reassure Kurt than anything in particular.

"I wouldn't want to leave that as a first impression with your dad, losing something he had given his son."

"It's not that big of a deal." He said as he shifted in his chair.

It honestly wasn't.

The weapon was ancient, barely worked at times, and in truth Kurt should have replaced it a few years ago. There was sentimental value attached to the Blaster of course, and he cared about the weapon in his own way, but he knew that losing it in a way like this was probably the best end the gun could have had.

"He'll appreciate the story." Kurt said with a smile. "I don't think he ever liked the thing anyway."

His father had never been much for weapons. He'd spent most of his early life designing them in one way or another, and inevitably that had meant a distaste for brutish technology. Of course, on Tatooine a blaster was rather necessary, and as such his father had procured the old WESTAR-34 that Kurt had carried for so long. The gun had a story all its own, but Kurt's dad would like the fact that it had an end, especially once that was so adventurous.

"I lost the camera, too." She said, mildly disappointed. "It wasn't expensive, but it did have all of our pictures on it. So that's kind of sad."

There was little she could do about that. It wasn't likely to be found. It was small, and lost somewhere in the grasslands of the jungle. Finding it again would be a daunting task, hardly worth the effort spent. Perhaps if they ever came back maybe she would look for it. The device itself would be long since weather damaged, though the data might still be good. It would be an interesting time capsule to come back and find in a year or so, assuming nobody else had stumbled upon it and scooped it up for themselves.

"Maybe we'll find it next time. Would certainly give us something to do if we come back."

She was talking about the future, that was a good sign at least.

He smiled. "Sure."

Kurt offered a small smile. He doubted that they would find either the camera or the Blaster, in fact, he doubted that they would find much more then the tent. Still, the idea of it was rather nice, no matter if it was possible or not. Spira was still a nice place, there was no denying that. The streaming sun and the seemingly endless ocean provided a nice sort of calm that Kurt couldn't quite define if he wanted to. It was serene here, but Jamie had been right in saying that this wasn't a place to live.

The pilot wanted something else, something more varying.

He wanted to wake up on some days and see snow, feel rain on certain morning, and simply watch the changing of the seasons. It was an odd impulse, and one he'd never thought about before. Though now that he had his mind of course returned to Jamie's earlier reaction.

So much for keeping it out of his mind.

...Okay then.

Jamie stared at him, expressionless, for a minute or two. It was evident that regardless of what she attempted to distract him with that the bigger discussion was going to the be the object of his attention until it was brought up. It wasn't what she wanted. She could feel the knot tightening in her stomach the more she mulled over it. It seemed it wasn't going to matter one way or the other. They would either argue now and see how that went, or sit in awkward silence and talk circles around the subject.

"It's Kaile." She said bluntly, finally crumbling beneath Kurt's persistent questioning expressions. "You've slept with her. Haven't you?"

Accusations were always the best way to start discussing important subjects, right?
