"How do you shoot the Devil in the Back?

...What if you Miss?"

-- Darth Söze

'Trigonus' gazed into the darkness, and it gazed unhelpfully back at him.

His shoulders sagged. He should have known.

Everything was smoke and mirrors with Her. Everything was deception. Traps within traps, to achieve ends he could never fully guess.

His head lifted, his gaze falling upon Reign.

He should try to kill the man. He knew too much, thanks to Her incessant need to articulate every detail of her machinations to anyone who would listen. Her predecessor had been that way, too. Always spilling Maldor's secrets as part of a ploy to demonstrate the depths of her insidious reach within the Empire.

But... no. That window was closed. Reign, for his part, did not seem the pointlessly vengeful sort who would burn him merely because he could.

"So. She lives. And now I've proven to Her that I need to Die.

She has the Empress' ear, and she has insinuated herself deep into Imperial affairs.

We may not meet again, Lord of the Diarchy. For my part, I will wish you success in your endeavors.

The galaxy needs a third way between the Jedi and the Sith."

Then he stepped back against the wall, waiting for Reign to depart.

He did not think the man would kill him, now.

But he wouldn't be showing his back to anyone, today.

She was gone.. white hot rage filled the Diarch, and he made himself a vow. He would not rest until he found Her and delivered a killing blow with the Sith's own lightsaber.
His mind was racing before he realized the other man was talking to him.

"You have proven yourself a hero, my friend. Hold fast, I give you this promise, that I will not rest until I have hunted her down and put an end to this Rule of Two myself."

He thought for a moment before continuing

"Your Empire needs you, now more than ever. But you need not go through this alone, you can call upon me and I will come. You've proven you are willing to rise above the teachings of your master. I sincerely hope to meet you again."

With that he handed the man a card with a way to get ahold of the Diarch, a smile on his face as he turned to leave. His mind already formulating the next moves against both the Empire and the Sith that secretly control it.

Perhaps with his adversary turned unlikely ally working from the inside, they could route out the corruption.

"Delighted to meet you, Demveath of the Okamsiu house. As for the artifact, I don't know if it's your family's but I'm searching for a superweapon, capable of petrifying. I suppose it's your heritage ?"

She was delighted that he was courteous in return. It had been a very long time since she could have genuine interactions with a random person.

But at the mention of a petrifying super weapon it gave her pause... I must ascertain what motivates him.

Keeping a close eye on where his hand goes she lets her lightsaber be openly shown. Its glinting intricate gold and silver inlay with motifs, and within it arcane alchemical enhancements, and imbuing.

Demveath probed the library with the force feeling for the familiar trio of holocrons before responding.
"That is a weapon that was used in my day. I know who made it. Although I doubt it still exists. Now the makers holocron may... and from the feel of the room many now ancient things are here."

She closed her eyes for a moment feeling with the force more closely to where one of her prizes could be.

"Tell me Matthew Varrec Matthew Varrec , what use do you have for such plans? are you trained in the Sith arcane arts? .... Or perhaps its for someone else, for favor.." It was times like this that all the intrigue of long ago came in handy.

Iellax knew that her attack on their opponent would be earlier than Lissa’s. That was the point. The Nagai leader was making the obvious attack to the most vital point on this target. From the front and without an attempt to disguise her movement. It was meant as a distraction for Lissa’s attack to hopefully complete the job of disabling their opponent.

Unsurprisingly Iellax’ attack was not successful. She gave a bit of a hostile hiss as the opponent didn’t raise his defenses in an attempt to block, but merely dodged to the side. In her rush, Iellax charged past him. In her periphery she saw that the movement her own attack caused, also made Lissa’s attack ineffective. Another hiss escaped the Nagai’s lips and she gave herself a bit of space and turned to face their opponent. <<Going back to stealth. You do the same…>> Iellax communicated to her partner.

”The simple answer is often the best,” Iellax chuckled to their opponent. As she did so she readied herself to blend with the shadows of the library and search for a new tactic to destroy their target. However before she could completely blend back in she felt the Force grab her and pull her forward towards the opposing combatant. Iellax did her best to keep a steady focus, but she was a bit panicked.

”I warn, that getting close to me will only be bad for you,” Iellax growled with a sensual tone. As she did so she raised all four small blades and crossed them at her chest preparing to block any offensive strike from the man. Though she also kept in mind that the Force provided more dangerous tools to strike with than just a lightsaber.

<<Get stealthy!! Find something that looks like it holds some value so we can retreat without the mission being a complete failure. Hopefully others were able to do a little looting as well, while we kept this one busy. Once you’ve secured a prize create a distraction and we’ll be on our way home.>>

Lissa gave a sharp breath as the Diarch leapt over her blades in order to save his legs from being severed. Fortunately, the maneuver threw him into the path of Iellax’s overhead slash, which scorched across his chest as a result. Thus, the clone allowed herself a soft smile, her eyes wide with adoration as she casted her gaze towards the Nagai. She was just as happy (if not even more so) for Iellax to land a blow as she would be for her own to land.

<<Going back to stealth. You do the same...>> Iellax communicated to her partner.

Yes, Lady Obscurer! Lissa answered via telepathic link. However, before she could follow through on the order, the clone felt herself pulled towards the man by an unseen force. She gave a sharp growl then, planting her feet effort in an effort to resist physically. Unfortunately, his telekinetic strength was such that he overcame her attempt to do so, nearly twisting her ankle in the process!

Nevertheless, with a deep breath, Lissa centered herself and tapped deep into the dark side once more. It was the very last of her reserves.

Eyes!

Lissa practically shouted the warning through the telepathic link, the meaning of which Iellax would be familiar with owing to their training. With a shriek of exertion, the clone extended her right arm towards the man’s head, at which point a scintillant burst of incandescent Force energy exploded out from the palm of her hand. In effect, her aim was to blind the man and disrupt his focus so that he would be unable to pull her!

Should she find herself free of his telekinetic grasp, Lissa would immediately dive back behind the shelves (and thus out of sight) before moving to grab the first holocron that she could find!

Fueled by rage of the coordinated attack the Diarch was pulling the two assassins back towards him. The consecutive dive assaults' each harming him in ways that could not be ignored. Both were close calls that left a lasting image upon him that he would need a bacta tank to heal at the least. As the two assailants came closer one braced herself while the other turned to plant her feet into the ground. Rellik gave the one who planted her feet a hard pull, almost breaking her ankles in the process.

The whole sequence was happening quickly. After the extra effort pull the one who planted their feet was hurling towards him. The Nagai who came close to ending his life was the focal point of his rage so as the other was already coming close, he turned to slash vertically down on the one whos blades were defending herself.

As he raised his arm a burst of force energy blinded him. Quickly bringing his blade down to where he assumed the Nagai would be, in a fury he blindly attacked. An ugly strike as he is more of a defensive fighter than offensive, the motion was based on what he perceived to be coming but it could easily be deterred. Leaving him open to be attacked back or pushed away.

Iellax did everything she could to take their opponent's focus upon herself. It seemed quite successful, but through their bond Iellax could tell that Lissa was also being pulled into the wheelhouse of the man. When the warning came to avert her eyes pride poured into their bind and Iellax closed her eyes focusing all her Force awareness on the blade of her opponent.

Even with eyes closed as tightly as possible Lissa's shriek of effort was followed by a bright light that shined through the Nagai's eyelids. Iellax sent a feeling of thanks and raised her crossed blades to intercept the enemy's blade. Her own strength was not mighty in the least. But the leverage of four blades allowed her to hold the attack at bay. At least for a moment.

In that moment she could feel where the blade was locked with her own. Iellax shifted her focus to the man's injury. With eyes still closed she smirked and lashed out her leg in a kick to the leg. "You have been a good opponent," Iellax hummed pleasantly. "I fear this is dissolving into a fair fight though. Not really my style. Hopefully we will see each other again…or I will see you at least."

With the flash of light the pull seemed to have ended and the Verum assassins were free to flee. Iellax hoped the strike to his leg and the bright light were enough for her to engage stealth techniques again. <<We have done enough. You find something interesting? If so let's get out of here!>>

With her prize secure, Lissa ran down the shelf row before turning the corner once she reached the edge of the room. Then, casting a brief glance down towards the holocron, the clone gave a deep breath before activating her armor’s concealment system, shrouding her form against the backdrop in perfect camouflage.

<<We have done enough. You find something interesting? If so let's get out of here!>>

Very interesting. I have a holocron! Lissa answered telepathically, her exhaustion and excitement manifesting even over the transmission. I agree. Let’s go! She added.

With that, Lissa made her way out of the facility through one of the emergency exits, before fading into the surrounding rainforest. Given the unexpected and fierce opposition, Lissa dared to call the mission a success, in spite of the fact that she had been unable to secure as much she would have had wanted.

At the very least, she had something that could be studied, together with Iellax. In that, Lissa allowed herself a small giggle, her heart fluttering at the thought!

The slash of the Diarch crossed blades with his prey. Frothing to push through her guard he let his senses fail him as a kick to the leg toppled him over. Landing blindly face first upon the hard ground of the vaults floor. For a brief moment, Rellik was unconscious. As he came to his enemies had disappeared.

If they were here for some knowledge perhaps they could be followed by sensing the large aura of the holocron they would have ran off with. Laying on the floor Rellik would try to sense the artifact so he could hunt his prey. Feeling the direction they had gone in, he attempted to rise up but the kcik to the leg that toppled him along with the slash was too much for a moment. The Diarch felt right back upon his knee as he tried to get up.

Deciding to attempt to heal his wounds and continue opening the holocrons within the facility he would stay meditating within the chamber. If someone arrived he would use his knowledge of shadows himself to slowly leave and find his brother. He could sense he was still okay so if worst came to worse he could divert there.

For know, the battle has ended and the time to search for knowledge has fully commenced.
