Mission to Voss

Pratiya was starting to see in the darkness. She heard the cries of distant Jedi as they searched for her, and their accompanying search parties. Many had flocked to rescue her, and she swore she could have heard Coci or Iella call out her name more than once. She couldn't say how long she had been down here, but it was apparent that her disappearance had sparked a rescue party.

She tried to listen again, but everything was silent again. She realised she was hallucinating. This entire place was depriving her of her senses, and it was inducing vivid images and sounds. Where she thought she saw the light where the exit lay, it was just another bleak dark nothingness. She bumped into a few walls, but she quickly was on her way again. Not a footstep to be heard, not even her own.

Walking, walking, walking. It seems that's all she's been doing. Guided by the ignited blade in her hand she continued to find her way through this maze of a ruin. There was definitely something more foul at play; she tried to reach out in the force but she was blocked but not passively by the dark aura surrounding this place but instead something, someone else. Her fears for Pratiya were turning into something worse...

It's her fault! She tried to lead the way... She... She thinks she's always right, and made me become overconfident, the rationalization of failure turned into bitter anger. Anger to escape fears spawned from doubt and weakness. In the moment she began to wonder.

Maybe I should just leave? Say that... Yes, Pratiya disappeared. It wouldn't exactly be a life, either. Although the thoughts of deception did bring about the feeling of guilt. Almost as if the world wished to throw her off balance she stumbled around an unsuspecting corner, the yellow light of Pratiya's lightsaber -- in hand -- nearly bumped into the face of a being. The dim light revealing...

"Pratiya?"

There was a vibrant thrumming noise coming from up ahead, and it's intrusion on her ears was painful. Perhaps it was the eerie silence, where not even hear own heartbeat could be heard, had made her ears sensitive, or it was a result of some Dark Side corruption that this place harboured, either way, her ears hurt. She followed the noise nonetheless.

Louder and louder it got, until it was almost deafening and unbearable to hear. She rounded a corner and she was basked in yellow light. She yelped, clenching her eyes shut. She could have sworn that they felt like her eyes had been singed. Then Kail roared her name in exclamation, forcing Pratiya to cover her ears and almost cower.

She fluttered her eyes open slowly, adjusting to the light, and the noise of the blade began to reduce, at least to her ears. Then it was normal again, and her ears no longer hurt. "Kail," was all she muttered when a cold, stiff breeze whispered through. Pratiya grabbed her double-bladed training saber off of her fellow padawan and took it into her own hands. The Voss Mystic emerged from out of the darkness, and he began his assault.

Kail was glad to see Pratiya was alright, but was still guilty from earlier. Taking her own blade, the green crystal ignited from the training lightsaber's metallic hilt when suddenly a spark of lightning went out towards her. In a rather impulsive reaction, Kail's lightsaber met the stream of flashing light and managed to block it but the force imbued in its power was overwhelming, she was lucky.

"What's the plan?", she said frantically towards her fellow padawan. Despite being under former tutelage of two Dark Jedi, Kail hasn't seen much combat; not against a force-user at least. She looked to her more aggressive and strong-headed companion to take the lead here, meanwhile Kail was curious about their opponent. Who where they? What did they want? Perhaps they could be reasoned with, perhaps they know something about this place that could be valuable. Nonetheless she could feel the dark aura strongly grasping around the Mystic. He's corrupted, she thought to herself. Perhaps he was once enlightened and sought out this place for good intentions? The thoughts were all she had, they were her fighting style.

Plan? That was a good joke. Pratiya answered, "There isn't one. Just abuse and capitalise on any opening!" As Kail had deflected the lightning, Pratiya charged in hard and fast. Pratiya's chaotic, unpredictable approach had given the young woman an advantage against the mystic. Kail's own more measured response might well have proven less effective.

Soon her yellow twin lightsaber blades were here, there, everywhere: unpredictable, irresistible. When one blade came sweeping in, she'd twist her wrist and another would come flying in from the opposite angle. She was connecting against him, striking him over and over. What flesh he showed was instantly bruised and held welts, but not much more.

While Pratiya lacked strength in her stance, or the awkward angles she chose for her lines of engagement, proving she was only a beginner in lighsaber combat, he speed was winning out. The mystic reached out, grabbing a handful of her hair. She rode the mystics yanking motion instead of fighting it, forcing his hands to slip between the strands of hair. Light exploded, and electrical volts struck her, flinging her across the corridor.

Watching Pratiya get thrown across the room made her heart race for the third or fourth time now. "Pratiya!", she shouted. If she hadn't gotten comfortable with the name before she did now; holding her lightsaber tightly with both hands the young Jedi looked to the Voss Msytic whom now turned his attention towards her.

"What do you want?", she asked shakily, her fear was obvious to anyone even without the force. Her eyes were filled with it, her hands were shaking, and her stance was without logic. The Mystic said nothing, merely walking quite slowly in her direction his hands swaying intricately as force energy of dark nature invisibly gathered. He was about to use lightning again, she didn't realize it at first but he was using force lighting, a powerful attack that Dark Jedi used from time to time. Something that gave her bad memories.

Right as the Voss launched the stream of light, she used her lightsaber again. This time she concentrated not on her survival, but her anger towards what happened. The lightning coiled around the green blade of the training saber and something inside her guided her motion, the blade tilted back towards him and redirected the stream which resulted in the same effect as Pratiya. He was shot across the room. Without thinking she disengaged her blade and rushed over to her padawan companion, "Are you alright?"
