Eternal Father
The Dark Lord reached out, fingers grasping Vaulkhar's shoulder in a fatherly embrace. "This pleases me to hear, my son. For too long I have chafed under the inadequacies of forlorn children, watching each one fail me in turn. There are few among my children that I can truly be proud of, Joycelyn, Elani... And now you as well." He shook his son's shoulder, fingers squeezing once in reassurance before they slipped away as the Emperor turned away to look at the forest beyond.
There was little to indicate what the Emperor was thinking about, his mind impenetrable to all. Nor did his expression give any context to his thoughts, impassive and stoic as it was the majority of the time. Yet there was a melancholy twinkle in both of his dark and hateful eyes, a regret born of the course of action he had been forced to take.
But there was no time for hesitation or doubt when it came to decisive action.
He had already made up his mind.
"Now come, my son. Our hunt here is finished. We must prepare for the greater challenge ahead. The greater war."
