- Small Size:
- The Moonglow is sleek and slim and most importantly significantly smaller than a standard comlink. This is primarily due to the graphene that was used in its circuit boards, the wonder material allows the phone to pack significantly more processing power into a smaller size contributing to that smooth futuristic design that makes the phone so attractive.
- Cameras:
- The Moonglow contains a set of rear-facing cameras capable of crystal clear shots as well as both zoomed and wide-angled shots. A barely visible micro-punched hole in the body of the device also hides a selfie camera for those times you just want to get a picture of yourself for a holo-call. When using the Moonglow to create a hologram, either front or rear-facing cameras can be used to transmit to whoever you're talking with.
- Liquid Buttons:
- Under the screen of the Starcom is a layer of small pockets that can be inflated by filling them with liquid, causing the screen to bubble forming tactile keys and controls allowing an easier and more comfortable. The buttons give the user a pleasant realistic feel and allow them to input commands without looking at the screen, while at the same time not impacting space, viewing quality or the ability to fold away the screen.
- Long-lasting Battery:
- The engineers at Locke and Key took a powerful long-lasting battery and miniaturized it for use in the Starcomm providing the device with the power to keep going for days of use. Coupled with wireless and fast charging capability, the Moonglow is capable of supporting even the most hectic of lifestyles.
- Biometric Authentication:
- The Starcomm provides two different types of biometric authentication methods, both facial recognition and fingerprint, either or both of which can be activated at the user’s request. The Starcomm can also be paired with any electronic device that needs a form of biometric authentication, allowing it to provide the verification from a distance, or from the ease of your comm device.
- Holoprojector:
- The Starcomm contains a version of Locke and Key Mechanics patented Apollo, allowing it to deploy a holographic screen which can be used to display messages, holovids or to browse the holonet. Thanks to the Apollo technology this is an interactive screen allowing the user to actively browse and compose messages and input commands as they may wish.
- Extendable screen:
- The Starcomm contains a paper-thin screen that can extend out from the side of the device. Once the screen has been extended as far as is needed electroreactive elements arrayed along the back of the screen will activate providing the screen with a firm backing until it needs to be folded away. The high-definition touch-sensitive screen is based on photonic crystal technology, providing it with a high-definition and high-quality image for a minimal power usage.
- Navi:
- Locke and Key first created the Navi AI as a personal assistant which could be used to help manage your life, but it was only with the creation of the Nexus One that Navi came into its own. Navi provides an alternate interface with the phone, as well as providing a series of other services. It’s like having a personal assistant in your pocket. One that can remind you of appointments, control the Nexus One Device, search the holonet for information, provide directions and more.
- Tumbler OS:
- Locke and Key’s signature operating system is an expandable and multipurpose operating system that can modify itself to its user's preferences. As the operating system of the Moonglow, it also allows the user to connect to their data and devices from around the galaxy, building into the ecosystem that Tumbler is designed to create.
- Secure:
- Using the same quantum key encryption system as Locke and Key’s earlier comm device, the Hermes, the Moonglow’s communications are secure and difficult to break into. The phone is capable of scaling its security depending on the device it’s connecting to starting at a basic level of encryption and scaling all the way up to quantum-key encryption.
- Connectivity:
- The Moonglow has a wide variety of connectivity options, from Bluetooth to Holotransiver, allowing it to connect to a wide variety of devices.
- Just a comm:
- When all is said and done, the Moonglow is just a communications device. It’s not a weapon or a shield, just a more effective way for people to communicate with one another.
- I hear you:
- Although the Moonglow is able to secure its transmissions, it has no way of knowing if the network is compromised and someone else is listening in, after all a network is only as strong as its weakest link.
For thousands of years, the shape and functionality of the basic comlink have remained unchanged. After all the typical attitude was, why break what wasn’t broken, but Locke and Key mechanics had never let themselves be ruled by the common wisdom. If it wasn’t broken, that just meant that it could be made better.
So they tasked a team with creating a device that took the comlink and built on it, made it better in ways that no one had ever considered, and the Moonglow was the result.
Where a standard comlink was large and bulky, needing to be attached to a belt, the Moonglow was slim and sleek, small enough to slip into a pocket. Where a comlink might come with a screen attached, the Moonglow had both a foldable screen and a holoprojector allowing a range of viewing options to suit your circumstances.
Where a normal commlink is only capable of sending and receiving messages, the Moonglow is a computer in your pocket, capable of organizing your life, and thanks to the Tumbler OS, capable of interfacing with a wide range of your other electronics. The little device that can slip into a pocket can be used to run your world.
Where a standard commlink can easily be taken and used by anyone, the Moonglow features a variety of security measures that protect not just the device, but the data stored on it.
Every aspect of the Moonglow has been designed for ease of use and to fit into your everyday life providing a massive step forward in commlink capability and design.
