Rawnie Tal'verda

Sweet. She guessed it was, in a way. Things were still hard on him though. This wasn't her first pregnancy. Years ago, she'd been engaged to Malcom. They'd been expecting a baby of their own. Excited for it. Mal had started building a cradle, just like this one... But things happened. It was nobodies fault really. Their first little one never saw the light of day.

"Mmm..." she went back to the place she was sitting, picked up her knitting needles and started to knit again, "Mal owns his own company. I believe they work with tech. Might be worth your time to meet him."

“Heh,” he got off the table and started to move it back to where he had placed it, “I don't know if I can pay off an investment that soon, if that was what you were aiming for,” he sat down in a nearby chair after placing the table where it belonged.

“Are you suggesting that I work for him instead of joining a mercenary crew?”

Rawnie tied off the sleeve she;d been working on, moving to knit the other one now.

"I'm saying, you'll be much closer to your dream working for him, than you will be making cradles, and chairs, and tables here. Working with found junk in the forest, trying to help us scrape by... Don't hold yourself back for our sake if you can do better."

Rawnie smiled up at her cousin. Their clan was poor. One of the worse off clan in the northern hemisphere. If not for her busting her tail every day, they'd probably have starved. But her hunting could only do so much, and even now, she had to stop that.

“You are right in what you say,” he fletched his hands together and he leaned backwards sitting in a business like pose, “I guess our clan could also use some production for both growth and money. Yes I know I am sounding like a Republic citizen now, but we don't particularly have enough furs of high quality here one can sell as luxuries.”

Rawnie's smile quirked slightly. He was getting it now.

"I will admit that the idea had crossed my mind..."

The clan needed more than meat and furs to survive. They needed trade. They needed currency. They needed someone with a brain like his to be using it for it's intended purpose.

"You have a rare gift, Aly. Don't waste it."

“Crossed your mind?” It wasn't so much a question as much as it was an acknowledgement of where her mind was going. Her concerns, and her attempts at cracking a problem that was their destitution. “Am I right to say that you have thought about this for a long time, but been too busy trying to keep everything on your shoulders?” he followed up in a slight teasing way one could only get away with between family.

“And thank you for the compliment, Rawnie,” he responded with a smile.

Her needled clacked together as she nodded her head. Yes. He was getting it.

"The job of a leader is never done," she sighed, "but I don't need to burden you with that. Come on now. Why don't you go make us both something warm to drink?"

She'd get up herself, but when little Galaar was finally asleep in her belly, she was loathe to wake him by moving about. The boy was active...

“And here I prove how grown I am by saying how mad I am that you don't share those responsibilities,” he retorted as he got them some hot cacao. Just the powder in hot water kind for the simplicity and because it was cheap.

He returned shortly giving her the cup, “It's hot,” then he sat down in a nearby chair near her.

Rawnie took the cup with a nod of thanks, setting her knitting aside for the time being. She stared at the fire, smiling a little sadly.

"I wish I could share my responsibilities with you, Aly," she said, letting the hot cup warm her frozen and injured hands through the gloves, "But it's simply not your responsibility. I'm the one that challenged by brother for it. I'm the one that picked up the burden. Let me deal with things. I want you to concentrate on making your dreams come true."
