Move Swift and Sure, For Speed is our only Hope (Rebels)

"Thank you mister."

Nagate joined the crew in the mines. It was a good 10 degrees hotter inside the mine, Nagate was forced to remove his trench coat, revealing his knife and blaster. Placing the coat over the handle of a hover cart, he began the grinding task of chipping away the rock TK get to the crystals inside.

As the work progressed, tensions ran high from the heat and streets of the work, some broke into arguements and others began to push and shove. Nagate got in the middle of each tif to quel it before they escalated. Though, he noticed a group of miners never seemed to bicker at all, and they were wearing long sleeved shirts, and barely sweating at all. It seemed as though they were cool and calm amongst the sea of tension around them. They simply looked on in confusion. Nagate had a realization that they may be in the presence of the aforementioned Pontite crystals. He moved to their spot and joined.

Pounding away at the rock, Nagate was determined to find the rare crystal. It would solidify his place amongst the Jedi. Were he to construct a lightsaber from the rare crystal, he'd finally realize himself as a Jedi. So there he was, mining for a gold needle in a haystack of bronze needles.

As Corruck watched intently at the surface he had a funny feeling, a feeling that this was all going to pay off very well. It was by no means a Force related feeling, he was not Force sensitive. It was probably wishful thinking, or maybe a moment of intuition. He didn't know, as one seldom does know the difference when looking at it in the present. He had done much research to decide upon this planet as a quick run. He had also done some studies into the crystals themselves. He had chosen to make the run now because of some interesting readings that the mines had had on crystal rarity at the moment. There had been some fairly interesting finds, they had dug up a number of rarer crystals, though no Pontite. Corruck had tried to figure if there was a possibility of finding Pontite, his best guess was that the highest chance was now.

--------------------------

As it turned out there was a single crystal formation within the rock walls, it was very small, almost unlikely to be found. It was the rare Pontite crystal structure. There was enough crystal in the formation to get a good three crystals out of it. Three well refined crystals that would be useful in lightsabers and other such. [member="Nagate Hei"] may not have realized it at the time but within a few seconds he would hit close enough to the formation that the crystals would be exposed and their full effects almost immediately felt.

After hours of digging, tensions were high, but still not a drop of sweat left the brow of Nagate or any miner nearby. He was strongly holding on to the hope that he'd find what he was searching for.

Then after one big swing of his pickaxe, a brilliant light was revealed and even the air around Nagate got a few degrees cooler. The light of the almost white aura denoted the discovery of all of Nagate's hopes in that he'd just uncovered the rare Pontite crystal. He removed the crystal and walked to the entrance of the mine. He found the Foreman, tapped him on the shoulder and presented the crystal.

"I believe this is what you had been explaining to me, right?"

The Gran's eyes lit up with excitement. He seemed giddy at what he saw, however he also seemed to be affected by the calming of the crystal. This led to a rather amusing appearance of energetic yet somehow calm.

"That. That. That must be it! To think that all this time we were so close. Truly stranger, the Force is with you." He smiled ruefully. He was slightly disappointed that his men had not found the crystal, however he was more overjoyed at actually seeing one of the real crystals. He knew that if they had found one then there may be more. He would have his men double their efforts to find more of these crystals, if there were any to be had they would find them. He looked at the a small wrist time-strip. He smiled, again somewhat ruefully. "And it appears that your time here has come to an end. I hope that you have found what you were looking for, though I bet you have found more than you expected. May your luck continue in your future endeavors."

He turned slightly at the sound of a ship landing. It was the Recalcitrant returning to pick up the people he had dropped off. Corruck was outside the ship fast enough to make it almost appear that he was a Jedi with the ability to move faster than most beings. Actually, he just knew the quickest and probably some of the more secret routes around the ship. He could be anywhere he wanted in less than ten minutes. Now though he was more concerned that nothing had happened. He had heard tell of pirate movements in the area and he had just hoped that there had been no trouble. He had assumed that there would be no problems, however he couldn't be sure.

Nagate bowed to the foreman and turned to Corruck as the ship landed. The rest of the crew was gathering at the mouth of the cave, saying their goodbye to new friends and allies. Some carrying crates of crystal and others gifts from their new found companions.

All in all it was successful, the threat of pirates had been null and the mood was cheery and filled with hunger. There would need to be a large feast to feed the hungry crew. Steaks, ale and sweets. That would do and Nagate felt that he could be the one to purchase such a meal.

"When we get home, dinner is on me!" He called to the men. Cheers filled the air as the crew high fived and patted Nagate on the back.

Nagate nodded to Corruck as he held the large crystal in his hands. He walked to the leader of the outfit, waited for the last of the crew to board then followed in with Corruck.

Talks with the Gran leadership had gone a bit stubbornly, but Gen was able to present her case for protection of the world in regards to the likely encroachment by the Lords of the Fringe in the near future. They were only a hyperspace skip away. Naturally, the Gran would be suspicious of any organization claiming to be protectors in exchange for valuable local resources. The Benefactor was understanding of that. To some, it might come off as a mafia policy.

But, in the end, the people of Halm had to be aware that they were incapable of defending themselves from any true galactic power. And adegan crystals were their lifeblood; the only reason they could truly establish any galactic presence. If an imposing faction were to take over, they could consider themselves locked out economically with one empire monopolizing the industry so that they might prevent enemies from obtaining the valuable crystals.

Therefore, it was with great reluctance that the Gran leader accepted Geneviève's offer. But accept it he did. And Gen would keep her promise.
