My Ep VII Thoughts & Questions

The theater I was in was relatively silent throughout the entire thing, but of course there were gasps of shock and horror during that fated scene between Kylo and Han.

Some people clapped at the end, but I was never one of those people who took offense to it.

There is something going on with Kylo and Rey - I just don't know what. Watching it again tonight, whenever she is mentioned, his attention perks up.

First when the FO officer reports BB-8 got away in the Falcon and a girl helped them, he goes mental.

Second, I think before Maz's castle attack, his attention is perked again when she is mentioned.

I'm interested what he knows/feels about her, even before they met the mention of "a girl" irks him.

Here is my take on it. So the droid escapes with known entities right. Okay so the traitor stormtrooper and he expects a resistence pilot took the droid. Instead he finds out that it was just the traitor what... A girl? What girl? Who is this girl that is involved. She's a total unknown, and perhaps his awakening that he felt had something to do with her. He felt her awaken in the force. Not her specifically, but someone. Somewhere. And now there is this unknown person, this girl, who has helped the droid escape.

He actually goes mental before he hears about the Rey. Order of events go that hears about the droid escaping and he hacks up the console cause he's pissed that the droid escaped. Then he is told that a girl was there as well. Cycle back to the first paragraph.

At Maz's castle he goes into the woods after BB-8 and Rey. He's told that the droid and the girl were seen leaving, so he is really after the droid but gets sidetracked by curiosity. Who is the unknown girl? What is her importance in the grand scheme of things? Is she this awakening he has felt? Are the kind of thoughts that are going through his head.

Some want Finn to turn out to be force sensitive and while I'm in favor of that, and have my reasons for thinking he is, what I'm wondering is what if, after his coma or whatever he gets continually injured being his ballsy little self and doing shit to save Rey, gets hurt, and comes back as almost Grevious-like cyborg? He'd certianly be able to give Kylo/Ben a much harder fight.

Regarding the mask, I think people forget that he is biologically related to Darth Vader.

The son of Han Solo AND Princess Leia, daughter of Vader. Not to mention that he was trained by the only known audience to Vader's Funeral, his uncle Luke Skywalker. We can assume that Leia pretty much hates Vader for what he had done, even if in Luke's eyes he's at least somewhat redeemed, and I feel like Han would be one to take trophies. Luke himself may have liked a reminder of Vader, to keep him on the right path to see what the consequences could be if he ever strayed off the right path (because it was pretty obvious that he was struggling by ROTJ).

So maybe as a family they kept it for whatever reasons they had.

Those factors combined could create a scenario where that remnant was taken from the pyre not by some recently turned Kylo Ren grave robber, and more of as an Heirloom stolen by an overly obsessed Ben Solo before or at the same time as becoming Kylo Ren. Given his direct connections, it is easily imagined that after slaughtering Luke's infant Jedi Academy he'd snatch the object of his obsession too as he high-tails out to go meet with sketchy Supreme Leader Snoke.
