My Father, the Sith

Sitting in one of the larger gardens of the temple on Effekt, Morgana awaited the arrival of the man who her mother, Empress Nimue Stormson, had told was her father; or at least one of them. Morgana was still trying to accept the fact that she was born not of one many but many. A genetic hybrid of sorts, made up from the DNA of all the lovers her mother ever had in the past. It was a very odd almost perverse thing to know. And while it had taken time to accept it that didn't mean Morgana liked it any better. Though given her mother's long explination as to how and why it happened still seemed a little off. She had the sense that her mother, while a stronger leader, had a very complex way of thinking that might be considered odd. She wasn't sure at this point. For now it was just a matter of trying to meet her fathers for the sake of hopfully coming to grips with who she is and who her family is as well.
Though if what her mother said was true then her first father was to be the more "aggregious" of them. Apprently this was the man who her mother had fully accepted as her truest love. Someone who taught her how to fight while also stealing her heart. Nimue had not said much about him, only that he was living with her on Effekt and that he was a strong, proud man; with a bit of a gruffer side. Already Morgana could tell he was going to be interesting to meet. But she was curious why her mother kept so much else in the dark.
She sat and waited on one of the benches in the garden while adminring the beauty of the exotic flowers and such that grew there. If it was true what her mother said, that Solan Charr was another father who had also taught her the same techniques of Plant Surge taught to her when they met, then she could understand while.

Asterion, for some reason, felt he owed Nimue the time to meet her kid before he left for Empress Teta on an initiation where he may not even return. At least everything would be in order and he could die at peace this way. Nimue had only told him to meet her in the Southern garden. That was it. The rest was up to them.

He didn’t feel nervous as he walked down from the Temple to the gardens, but more anxious about what to do or say – this was totally out of his depth with the overhanging notion this could be – was, is – his child. And 3 other’s as well. The thought ate him up and the more he remembered that, the more he resented mother and child already.

Wearing his black and grey bodysuit which was comfortable and fit for travelling after their meeting, all personal items left in his chambers, Asterion sidled down the stone stairs and passed the decorative hedges and water fountain into the garden. Reaching out with the Force, it was instantly there; a Force signature that made his skin tingle as it was recognisable straight away – his own, tainted with the Light.

Coming up to the figure sat on the bench, he made out the colouring of her hair and thoughtful face. This felt more terrifying to him than meeting Sith Lord Kyros.

”Are you Morgana?”

Brilliant first words, DAD.

He winced and looked sideways at something – anything – before looking back at the girl. Did she know much about him, or anything at all? Was this another test from Nimue for him to gauge her without her knowing? Was he just one of Mummy’s Royal Guards?

”I’m Asterion.”

As she sat and waited Morgana could feel something. A strong force presence, but more of the darkside. She tesned, unsure if it was a friend or foe. After meeting her mother, who was a dark jedi, and having been with her aunt Taeli, who used to be a Sith Lord, Morgana was not as against the darkside users as most Jedi in the Republic. Obviously she stood against those who were with the One Sith, since their intentions were clear and cruel enough, but others tended to have a different nature. It was hard to say with most but Morgana was eager to let the person speak for themselves before being judged by anyone else. Still as the darkside presence came she continued to look before hearing someone speak.
She shot up from her seat and turned to see him. [member="Asterion"] was a handsome man, making Morgana see why her mother was so interested in him. He looked strong and almoast spoke strength. But this was also where the darkside was coming from. So that was it. One of her fathers was a Sith. Thinking on it Morgana could see how some, if not most, of his influence had spread on her.
After he introduced himself she gave a small "Hello....father."

Exhaling and shaking his head gently, Asterion looked at Morgana.

”Yeah, there’s that.”

He was no geneticist, but he could see that she certainly carried Nimue in her. A natural beauty, who carried herself strong. Taking not just genetics from her mother, but also life-lessons and how to carry yourself. But, while not knowing what to look for to mirror his own look, he could see nothing in the girl at first.

”Look, straight up – this is just as strange for me as it is for you, alright? If you’d rather just shake hands and call it a day, that’s fine with me. I promised your Mother I’d do this for her.”

Indicating to the bench where she stood from, Asterion took a seat, on edge, and leant on his thighs.

”So. How’s things?”

He’d have to do better at this forced conversation - for both their sakes.

[member="Morgana Forceborn"]

Right away [member="Asterion"] had made it clear how odd this was. When he mentioned it Morgana shrugged and nodded before he mad the suggestion to just shake hands and be done with it. Part of her thought it might have been best, but another had thought to actually tru and converse with him. Though, at the same time, she was sure this was more for him than her so if he wanted to she'd agree to it. But then he seemed to turn on his suggestion and instead sit and talk with her. She found it a little odd but at the same time she wasn't exaclty on a stright road in her own mind.
She sat down while saying "Good. EVerything's....good. And you? I hear you and mother are....well that she think's your the best out of everyone else. I mean I think that's what it is, right?"

Looking at Morgana, he continued to analyse her features. This wasn’t his child – she was a young woman, and bore nothing of him bar a strong Force aura that was probably in line with him being close to Nimue.

”Yeah, apparently I’m the best of a bad bunch, god knows what your Mother was thinking, but that’s done now.”

The seconds ticked by and felt like minutes. He pushed the tips of his fingers together, looking past them at the ground below.

”Guess I should find out what you do with yourself day to day. You have a job or anything? Studies?”

That’s what parents had to take an interest in, right?

[member="Morgana Forceborn"]

The way he made it sound seemed as though [member="Asterion"] was ashamed to have been coupled in with the other men Nimue had fallen for in the past. She wasn't sure why but maybe it was something striclty between them. When he asked about her day-to-day lfie she shrugged and answered "Well...I AM a Jedi. So a lot of it involved Jedi stuff. You know, training, trying to help people. That sort of stuff." She went quiet for a moment o elt him take it in before asking "What about you? I mean what do you do around here aside from being...well with mom."

And if things couldn’t get worse, the talk of Morgana being a Jedi made Asterion disappointed. The fact Nimue had now given the child a path to walk, knowing the genetics that made her – god know what sort of hybrid all the Light and Dark would make. He turned to her, a small frown.

”A Jedi?” He scoffed and shook his head.

”So now you’re on a crusade for the Light when you’re raised by those who stand against it. Perfect.”

Another conversation killer. Was there a point going on? A young woman with years of memories already behind her, with attitude and also serving the Jedi Order. This wasn’t his child that was for sure.

”You want anything from me? I guess you’ve got four source pools to pick from, so if you have any questions, ask now, as I don’t know how much we’ll be in contact probably. Don't want to leave you feeling you missed something, y'know.”

[member="Morgana Forceborn"]

Being that he was clealry a Sith Morgana could see why he was upset with her being a Jedi. But some of his comments didn't make it any better. In fact she retorted with "Hey, it's not like I'd chose it. Okay? When my mom sent me away my aunt Taeli took me to the Jedi. Said it was a better life. And yeah, maybe I didn't like it at first, maybe I acted out sometimes, but that doesn't mean I don't still stand for some of the things the Jedi are for." After that she calmed when he asked if there was anything she wanted to know, making her think for a moment before asking "So...how did you and mother meet?"

A bemused look crossed his face and he had to smile.

”Aunt Taeli? What the hell is she doing, trying to pawn you off to everyone and anyone around the galaxy? God. And all the Jedi stand for is their own well-being. You don’t fit in, and then you’re out. Trust me, I’ve been there.”

As if his patience was already stretched with Nimue, she was now sending her daughter on travels with all sorts of people he had never heard of. Aunt Taeli? So Nimue had a secret sister, or what? At Morgan’s next question, Asterion sighed.

”I was on the planet Teth finishing up some of training, with the Sith Order – you know those nasty people you Jedi need to cull? Your Mom pretty much sent some heavies with an invitation to the palace on Effekt here, and I think my name had been banded around from my time with Sith Lady Kyros, I’m not sure actually.”

He looked up at the cold sky for a moment, racking his brain, but couldn’t think.

”It was a long time ago; she was new to pretty much all knowledge of the Force and training in the ways of a real warrior, and I was fresh from the Sith and out for passing on what I knew. So I trained her, helped her, and she stole my DNA in return. We came back in touch only weeks ago when she came to find me on Teth and I was at my lowest, and I have to say she pretty much saved me and gave me a purpose again and that’s why I’m here. About to venture in a new direction, trying to make things work with Nimue and now…whatever we are, trying to make sense of it.”

[member="Morgana Forceborn"]

Morgana was starting to get annoyed with [member="Asterion"] . It was clear whatever issues he had with her mother he was starting to take out on her; not to mention the fact he didn't approve of her being a Jedi. She could have made the argument about him being a Sith, which she wanted to, but then came his story about how he and her mother met. She was a little surprised to know that he used to be a teacher to Nimue, showing her the ways of the Force and combat. Obviously she had a lot of trust in him, though she wondered why he of all the others she wanted to be with her most. It was when he explained what happened after he left that it started to make sense. She wanted to help him, despite having taken his DNA in the process to basically create her. Now she felt a little bad for him, and herself.
She looked away and sighed, leaning on her knees, before saying "You know....when I found out about all this I was pretty peeved myself. I mean here I was thinking I was just another girl. But not only am I a princess, or whatever, but I'm a genetic hybrid from four different men. No exactly the 'dream come true' sort of thing."

Morgana had a point. Asterion was annoyed at everyone and everything for having a broken upbringing and then being abandoned on the planet of the Sith. So partly he knew how she must feel at having something less than ideal to look back on.

”Hey, at least you’ve got plenty of father figures to swindle credits out of.”

And so came the attempt at disarming the tense situation. This was Nimue’s child, and he loved Nimue. If anything, Morgana would help dictate his position and standing in her life, but for Nimue he had to make things work and accept her daughter.

”Listen kid, I’m not very good at all this sentimental stuff, alright? But, I know the basics and I don’t talk rubbish. You want help or anything, or advice, come to me and I’ll help you. Whereever we stand, we’ll get there maybe one day – but you’re Princess of Effekt and Nimue’s daughter, and I love her, and so – ” he twirled his fingers as he trailed off.

”I’ll look out for you.”

[member="Morgana Forceborn"]

Credits? Really? Is that what he thought this was about? She scoffed at him before he made it clear he wasn't exactly the kind, fatherly sort that she expected him to be. Sort of made sense the more she knew him just by talking. At least he was tough but fair and straight to the point. She could respect that. At least he made it clear he'd look out for her and be there for her. In truth that was all she really needed. It was enough that she had four fathers but having just the one who was devoted enough would be comforting to her.
She nodded and gave a little "Thanks..."

Exhaling his cheeks and looking out to the far mountains, home of those mystical Snow Giants, a small smile crossed his face thinking about Nimue half-naked as part of the magic initiation. He turned to her after a reaction that was less than enthusiastic – if anything, he didn’t understand attitudes of young women.

”Where are you based? Have you got a place to call home? You should think about staying here for a while, if anything to give your mother piece of mind.”

[member="Morgana Forceborn"]

When he asked she shrugged and answered "I guess on Ossus, with the Jedi. But..." she looked around at the garden and the view of Effekt, "I guess I could stay here for a bit. I mean...if mom really wants me to take over after her then I guess I need to get used to it." She went quiet for a bit before asking "So are you and her married? Or does she have you around for another reason? I mean aren't you like a general or something now?"

”The Jedi don’t have homes. They have temples and academies and places to harvest your being. A home is where you’re loved and cared for you and you can be yourself. Remember that.”

The girl fronted a good question, and Asterion was impressed with how little emotion she gave away either via her Force aura or physical look.

”Not married, no. I’m a General of her Armies. Or something like that. It’s slow burning and I’ve not really enforced myself enough to warrant the title but I will, in time. Just got a few off-world matters to attend to and then I can hopefully make something of myself here for Nimue and you.”

He looked at her.

”You’re lucky to have Nimue. She’s a good person. No matter what she may have done. I think she’s got a good heart under all that strange and complicated intention. She loves and cares for you a great deal, and she’d die for you. I’ve seen the fire in her eyes when it comes to protecting you.”

[member="Morgana Forceborn"]

Another smack against the Jedi. He may have been a Sith but that didn't mean he had to scorn them every time she brought the up. If anything he should've known better, considering SHE was a Jedi after all. She said nothing though, keeping it to herself. Last thing she wanted was for an argument with her father to spring up over this sort of thing. After that she listened to him explain his position before saying how devoted he was to her mother. She had to admire that, and further understood why Nimue wanted to be with him. It was noble of him; even for a Sith.
"And what about you? Would you protect and die for her? Despite....well me?"

An easy question for him to answer.

”Kid, she’s all I’ve got in life now. She saved me, and for that I owe her something; my life. A life for a life I guess. I’d fight for her and I’d not let anyone or anything harm her with everything in my power used to prevent it.”

With that, he lightly waved a finger to her.

”And that also means you. You’re her blood, and mine I guess – so I’d do the same for you whether you wanted it or not. That’s something you do for your own. Granted you have more DNA than most, but part of me has made you and that’s enough for me right now.”

Another sentimental moment, and one he tried to change.

”So what’s your time with the Jedi been like? You saved any planets from destruction or liberated people from tyranny? Sell it to me.”

[member="Morgana Forceborn"]

A little fire sparked in Morgana's heart. He truly had a more tender side to him. And to think [member="Asterion"] pulled this whole "brooding lone warrior" act when really he had a heart. It was something else she disagreed with some of the Jedi on; those that still preached it at least. That emotion was a weakness, not a strength. He may have been Sith but he was still her family. Her blood. Her father. She smiled at this even as he tried to change the subject, she shaking her head as part of her answer.
"I've been training mostly. Not much else. I don't think I'll be ready until I'm a knight at least."

”I see. I see.”

Mulling the question over, he thought there was no harm asking, and he actually wouldn’t take it to heart if his help was rejected. He had to think realistically.

”Want some training from me? I’m a little rusty, but I’m getting there, so I’m happy to have a little,” he struggled on the words, ” father daughter time if I can show you a few tips and tricks. You could even show me a thing or two.”

Jedi and Sith training was very different, so he imagined, but he wouldn’t want her to be in danger if he could help it.
