I've been operating under the assumption I have two options. I could either write as if all my history happened but My order burned and I am a refugee or something else happened and now I need to find my new place in te Galaxy or I could write as if none of the history happened and my charachter is just starting out.

I personally like starting new every few months, i cycle through characters fairly quickly with some exceptions. It's up to you in the end of course, but if you never try anything new you'll never know what could've been!
