PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS
Mykel Dawson is a thoughtful, serious minded teenager with a sharp intellect and a tendency to overanalyze. He approaches problems methodically, breaking them down with a technician's precision, whether he's repairing a ship's systems or drilling combat forms. But beneath that careful focus runs a deep current of protectiveness, an instinct to shield others that sometimes overrides his better judgment as he can fail to see the bigger picture in his novice state. There's a quiet weight to him, the kind that comes from being the oldest sibling, from always feeling responsible. But those who know him well catch glimpses of dry humor and surprising warmth, usually when he's tinkering with machinery or explaining some obscure bit of Jedi history to his younger siblings. He believes fiercely in the Jedi path, even as he quietly struggles with its hardest teachings.
STRENGTHS
Strategic Mind: Due to intensive drilling and training missions from a young age, he excels at reading a situation and adapting quickly, whether in combat or diplomacy. He processes information fast and usually doesn't panic under pressure.
Empathic Insight: While reserved, Mykel has an unusually strong connection to the emotional currents around him. He can often sense another's intentions or pain before they speak.
WEAKNESSES
Emotional Suppression: Struggles to express personal vulnerability. He internalizes conflict, which can cloud his judgment or lead to emotional outbursts when pushed too far.
Pressure to Protect: His protective instincts, especially toward his siblings, can override logic as he begins to tunnel. He'll take unnecessary risks if he believes someone he loves is in danger.
HISTORY
Born into a family of Silver Jedi on Kashyyyk during the waning days of the Concord, Mykel Dawson was raised under the careful guidance of his parents in a Jedi Enclave on the Alliance core world of Coruscul. Finley, the wandering explorer, and Sadira, the disciplined warrior. Their teachings were a study in contrasts: his father emphasized adaptability and curiosity, while his mother drilled into him precision, resilience, and the dangers of unchecked emotion. Yet despite their differences, they shared one core belief: attachment, when balanced with wisdom, could be a strength rather than a weakness. This philosophy shaped Mykel deeply, making him both fervently loyal and painfully aware of the risks that love could bring.
From an early age, he displayed a protective instinct, especially toward his younger siblings. Where other Padawans might have been taught to detach, Mykel was encouraged to care, but not to cling. He trained rigorously, mastering Form V lightsaber combat with a style that blended his father's tactical patience and his mother's relentless adaptability. In the Force, he excelled in energy absorption, technopathy, and telekinesis, though he struggled with mental shields due to empathetic nature further exacerbated by his Force Sensitivity.
Yet as he grew older, his parents recognized a growing tension in him. He possessed a fear of loss that sometimes tipped into recklessness. They knew that if he was to become a true Jedi Knight, he needed to learn from someone less emotionally tied to him. And so, when the time came, they arranged for him to continue his training as an apprentice under their colleague Kaldor Vexis of the Sterling Rangers, a seasoned Consular known for his calm wisdom and quiet resilience.
The transition was difficult. Mykel chafed at the idea of leaving his family's guidance, and Kess's reserved demeanor felt cold compared to his parents' more lively tutelage. But in time, he began to understand the lessons of his more stoic master to observe more and take pause to deliberate so that he didn't simply fall into the nasty habit of tunneling and becoming reactive to a situation directly involving people he most cared about, submitting to his overly protective nature and undermining his own efforts even if they were well meaning. However, learning the lesson and applying it are two different things, and so he continues to struggle.
Now, as he walks the path toward Knighthood, Mykel ventures into the wider galaxy with his master, each adventure and mission another step toward his development. Figuring out the man he wants to become.
