STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES
Strengths:
Eyesight; Mysa's eyesight far surpasses that of most species' due to her Umbaran heritage, allowing her to see in vary degrees of light, darkness and UV, even penetrating visual hindrances such as fog and synthetic products
Sense; Mysa's biggest strength in the Force is her ability to sense the Force in practice, the Darkside especially. This has at times driven her across the Galaxy in search of corruption, with hopes of eradicating the source. She is great at sensing practitioners, generally knowing which side of the spectrum they land through presence alone
Heart of the Valkyri; Identifying moreso with the Valkyri of Midvinter than the Umbaran in her blood, Mysa is steadfast in her duties, one with the nature of the snowy world, and protected by the Gods above. She is more comfortable wielding sword and bow than she is her lightsaber, and her fighting form reflects the Valkyri way as opposed to any of the old Jedi techniques. If not for her short stature and pure white hair, she could easily be mistaken for one of their kind
Hunter's Grace; Mysa has spent much of her life on Midvinter hunting the native game for sustenance. Her eyesight is strong, her senses are honed, she is an extremely gifted archer and is capable of tracking creatures across the snow and through the forests of her home
Genetically Modified; Mysa has no innate defects or genetic mutations, limiting her chances of developing hereditary diseases. This does not stop her from having the natural drawbacks of her species, however, and presents no added skills or capabilities. It simply means that her DNA is not defective
Weaknesses:
Hypersensitive Eyesight; Mysa's heritage is both a blessing and a burden, her sensitive eyesight leading her to suffer should she be exposed to sudden blinding lights in an almost photosensitive epileptic manner
Bound to Protect; Mysa has an innate, unquenchable desire to help any and all regardless of who they are and what they have done. She is fiercely protective of the people of Midvinter, and would gladly lay down her own life if it meant their guaranteed safety
Pyrophobia; While Mysa has cleansed herself of the experiences she faced at the hands of scientists, she could not quite shake her irrational fear of fire and burns. The mere sight of it can cause her to freeze up or panic in more volatile extensions
Battling Her Past; Mysa has been through a lot in a very short space of time; from an isolated upbringing, to difficult family reunions, abduction from her homeland, and torture at the hands of a Sith. She is mentally exhausted, and carries both the physical and metaphysical burdens of her experiences
Battling Herself; Mysa has spent so long living up to everyone else's expectations, doing as they wish her to rather than what she believes to be best, that she has lost her sense of self. At odds with the Galaxy, uncertain of which path is hers to take, she has found herself at a crossroads in her life yet to Mysa it feels more like she's stuck between a rock and a hard place
VALKYRI HERITAGE
Following her arrival upon Midvinter, Mysa was slowly embraced culturally into the Valkyri; provided with her own warm set of furs, and viewed as a blessing from the Gods due to her snowy appearance, upon her departure from Midvinter the child was gifted with a token from the High King, Thrand Dawnbringer, which depicted one of the native Vhaanir, and the Valkyri name of Snowstrider. While she is no native by blood, both of these endowments provided Mysa with kinship and represent her place amongst the Valkyri as a people. Throughout her stay upon Midvinter, Mysa was even converted to the Valkyri Faith - although this was not something she chose to be outward with until more recently
Éar: Named in tribute to the Valkyri Goddess of the Hunt, this miniature wood carving was created by Thrand Dawnbringer and takes the form of the Vhaanir of Midvinter. It was the first item ever gifted to Mysa, and acts as a reminder of not only what the Valkyri did for her during her hour of need, but also her place amongst them
Valkyri Cloak: While rather oversized, given Mysa's petite frame, this thick fur cloak was used to keep the child warm upon the frigid world and has become akin to a pacifier for her ever since. She enjoys bundling into it at night, and finds it keeps her feeling safer and warmer than anything else when she's travelling
Felix: A Frír Cub rescued on the eve of battle, Felix is Mysa's steadfast companion throughout her journeys across both Midvinter and the Galaxy at large. While he is still little more than a kitten at this stage, with time he will become a fierce predator answerable to only she
Arelwis: The Vhaanir Doe which seems to watch over Mysa, the same one she rode into battle upon during the Battle of Tháinbroek
Rhak-Skuri Frír: A gift from her mother, this is a pendant which allows Mysa to communicate with her parents during an emergency. It is only a one-way system, however, meaning it cannot be used to contact Mysa herself. It is shaped like a Frir head, to honor her companionship with Felix, and is always on her person
The Arm of Éar: The bow which Mysa hand crafted, a symbol of her devotion to the Goddess Éar
PRE-ROLEPLAY HISTORY
Mysa was not the result of a joyful relationship or even a brief fling, she was instead created by Kära Vi'dreya as a meticulous experiment held in the most clinical of environments. While she was in fact conceived and birthed as any child ought to be there was no male involved during the conception, with the paternal DNA being taken from a carefully selected Umbaran source and manipulated beyond recognition. This makes her a product of genetic engineering, and also means that she holds no physical or biological defects save those naturally pertaining to the Umbaran species.
She was made in the visage of her Creator, with icy eyes and hair as pale as snow, and upon her birth she was housed in secret upon Aurum. Dubbed perfection, Mysa was carefully monitored during her first few years to ensure the process had been a success; with the child responding well to stimuli, and her mental and physical growth rate on par with her age group, she was labelled a success... Yet this did not gain much in the way of affection from her 'Mother'.
In truth, Mysa would never even refer to Kära as her Mother - although the Sith Lord would come to view the child as her own and later refer to her as her daughter and heir. Instead, Kära was known purely as the Creator and during formal lessons Mysa was permitted to use the term Master if only sparingly. This led to sheltered emotions and a distinct lack of understanding where non-purposeful social functions were concerned; the child grew to speak and in turn was expected to learn, but every interaction was to the point.
While her life was isolated, Mysa was still taught of the greater Galaxy outside of the laboratory she was confined to so as not to disillusion her in the future. When she turned five the child was taught the very basics of energy transferal through baseline Tutaminis training, giving her a minor grasp of the Force; in truth, Kära had no intentions of rushing Mysa's Force training and had simply used this most basic of exercises so that she might better understand the theory as she grew.
Aside from this, Mysa was taught the fundamental principles of philosophy in relation to the Force; not wanting to corrupt the child, knowing how the Darkside could destroy the malleable mind of an infant, she touched upon both Sith and Jedi principles in a very sterile and informative manner, refusing to push her creation down either path. After all, Mysa was an experiment and not a tool... Kära had not made her to be another weapon in her arsenal, but instead to study and learn from.
Somewhere along the way Kära grew somewhat fond of the child, a sensation that was alien and disjointing to the Sith Lord who had spent years expertly closing herself off from the Galaxy and its temptations. Noting the innocence of her creation, which she felt a perverse need to protect, she began to draft arrangements for Mysa's future - Kära had gleaned much from the experience, and felt no disappointment or anxiety at the thought of one day letting her go free into the Galaxy. She had no need for another subservient being, especially not if that individual was of her own flesh and blood.
Disaster struck before the plans could be finalized, with the death of Kära putting a stop to Mysa's observed state. At first the scientists who had once been loyal to their Queen found their twisted personalities began to resurface without her guidance. Seeing Mysa as an experiment just as much as her mother had, albeit in a very different manner, they began to do new experiments upon the child and each was as disturbing as the last. While they did not manage to exact permanent damage or change on the girl, their tormenting ways and use of fire during their experiments left Mysa vulnerable and afraid - more so of the fire than the men themselves, however.
No longer looking for scientific advancement through her, the men became rather whimsical until their new found sense of freedom wore off and Mysa was once again left to her own devices. It was not too long before Kära's more hidden belongings were found upon her Flagship The Judgement. With the Sith Lord's will unearthed, her plans to have the child sent to the world of Midvinter were discovered - however to whom was not made clear. Even so the scientists were glad to see a way to be rid of her.
Presented with no real belongings, as such aspects of Kära's intentions had not yet been written up, Mysa was made to board a transport shuttle off-world; the final part of her Mother's will pertaining to her was honoured, with the child being handed a rather small holocron of little significance. Freedom suited the former experiment, who seemed to shed the burdens of all she had experienced since the death of her Creator. Instead of dwelling on it, the still-developing child stepped into the world with a renewed vigor and innocence.
With everything seeming so fresh and new Mysa was in awe, and her initial view of the Galaxy was not as Kära had hoped; the child's vision was tunneled and while her high expectations would remain in place for a while there was no doubt that the disillusionment would eventually come crashing down. Mysa was flown from Aurum to the opposite end of the Galaxy where Midvinter resided and therein was deposited among the Valkyri who had been pre-informed of her arrival.
While some of the older Valkyri looked upon the pale child with xenophobic distrust, for the most part Mysa was welcomed as though she was a speck of snow amid the wintery backdrop of the planet. There she found further wonders to marvel upon, experiencing the likes of snow and true human interaction on a sociable level for the first time. Although it was a lot to take in, the child was very susceptible to the changes and adapted to life on Midvinter within a few days of arriving.
