Intent: More droid NPCs for freehold, also something neat to float around and do priestly things and handle greeting visitors to our fair metropolis.
Development Thread: Available upon request.
Manufacturer: Temple of the Route
Model: Docent class
Affiliation: The majority of them work for the Temple as either priests or representatives of the government. All models are manumitted.
Modularity: The Docent model features to hard points, one on each wrist. Each hard point is powered, and can be fitted with equipment. Most docent models keep a holo-projector on one arm, and the other varies from Docent to docent. While mounted weapons can be affixed to the Docent, they rarely elect to do so, as their default systems are not designed for combat.
Production: Limited production run of a few hundred.
Material: Duraplast and and basic duranium for primary components. They have a habit of wearing loose robes made of armorweave, but those are tailored for the body and not default.
Classification: Primarily class Three
Weight: 45 Kilograms
Height: 1.37 Meters from top to bottom. However, preferred hovering height makes it about 2.2 Meters from the ground to the top of the droid's head.
Movement: Repulsorlift
Armaments: None by default.
Misc. Equipment: In addition to normal sensors, the Docents have a heuristic droid brain, multi-language vocabulators, and a program addition protocol. There is an internal stabilization system designed to work in conjunction with repulsorlift mobility system.

Strengths:

People skills: Engineered from Hegemonic programming architecture from protocol droids with a bent towards Heuristic social analysis, the Docent class is arguably the most sociable droid ever made. They specialize in relating to people, and often do work as counselors, advisors, priests, and therapists.
Nimble: The light weight design and Repulsorlift systems make for an agile robot that glides where others would stumble. Terrain and maneuverability are not obstacles to Docent class droids.
I speak goodly: The advanced linguistics protocols of the Docent class allow for a fast-talking machine that can learn languages quickly, in a manner not unlike the old Cybot models of past decades.
Born leader: Docents have a knack for organizational tasks, and can often coordinate with other droids and organics on large projects with a keen managerial eye.

Weaknesses:

Fragile: Their bodies are not designed to take much damage, and require regular maintenance and up-keep. to prevent damage to the Repulsorlift and balance systems.
Weight limit: The Repulsorlifts are designed to carry no more than one and one-half times the weight of the droid. Any more than that, and you're barely able to move. This means that Docent's are not suited to heavy labor.
Not a fighter: There are no combat or tactical protocols installed originally on the Docent model. While they are capable of violence, they are bad at it.
Okay, I fudged a few things: Docents sometimes have a tendency to tell people what they want to hear, and stretch the truth of their own capabilities while doing so.
You monster: Docents do not react well to behavior they perceive as cruel both among droids and organics, and are sometimes too empathetic for their own good. A Docent is likely to rebuke and report cruelty, and will go out of its way to treat people it perceives as "evil" poorly.

Description:

Five-oh's most recent experiments into droid consciousness focused on the nature of protocol droids. Most protocol programming architecture is focused on its ability to blend in, to seamlessly blend into their surroundings without contributing outside of translation and behavior. However, they had one of the strongest assessment systems of any architecture, being able to typically read both body language and linguistic meaning from hundreds of cultures.

The Near-human model of the Docent was not, as some believe, based primarily on the cultural behavior of humans, but instead on Ghostlings. A fragile species that existed in fear of others due to a lack of technology and a tendency to be taken as slaves, they instead developed societal tendencies towards highly empathetic and subtle behaviors, not unlike protocol droids. With this in mind, the Docent class is fragile, and is not suited to much aside from intellectual work. However, even slaves, when freed, are full of potential. So, designing a being modeled from a desire for freedom, and a strong sense of independence, the Docent's internal protocols were created, producing a robot who's "native" culture was that of using an odd mix of grace and subtlety, and both physically and mentally less inclined towards force, while still desiring independence.

Like all of Five-oh's "children," the robot prophet manumitted them after activating them, letting them make their own way in the city. About half of them joined alongside him to work in governance and other social duties at the temple. The remainder floated about, trading their considerable acumen at translation and coordination for parts and supplies. They were free, but still needed to make a living to maintain power and accomplish goals, be it poetry, leadership, or the establishment of companies and business. The Docents frequently wander about, allowing their vague cloaked figures to cast images about the city. Some rule, others manage, and a few just laze about, making art and selling it.
