Pedantic Padawan

Age: 26
Species: Human (Hapan)
Gender: Female
Height: 176cm
Weight: 66kg
Force Sensitive: Yes
Faction: New Jedi Order
DESCRIPTION
The young human woman is quite tall and unquestionably a great beauty, with a finely-cut, youthful face, a long neck, and delicate hands. Even though her clothes are roomy, they hint at an ample bosom. Her posture is proud and upright and her movements graceful.
Her sense of dress is unusual in this day and age: she wears robes of the traditional shape, but without the ascetic attitude, given to finer fabrics, colour and ornament.
She takes in the world with a skeptical, evaluating posture, her expression thoughtful, but slow to divulge a reaction. As she looks at you, you cannot help but feel that you are being judged.
PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS
Neriamel is unquestionably a difficult person. She is well aware of her own abilities and impatient with others who do not match her, having a hard time accepting them as equals, and prone to being dismissive. She is fundamentally disrespectful of authority even when she is able to maintain manners outwardly, requiring much proof of competency and reluctant to trust in the judgement of others. She respects only those who prove themselves to her.
She believes that her role as a Jedi is to do the one thing others cannot. It is not to battle a bandit with a blaster, or to be a soldier, or to shoot down starfighters, or to advance material science, to be a diplomat, or to organise the logistics of aid convoys. It is to do what other beings could do under no circumstances - to study the mysteries of the force and to defend them from the many who would abuse the powers it grants.
STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES
+ Neriamel is highly intelligent and analytical. She is well-educated, quickly apprehends and retains facts and skills, and easily holds different considerations in her mind to develop a complex model of a situation.
+ Neriamel is a principled practitioner of Makashi and a capable lightsaber duelist, equalling the skills of many a Jedi who has already reached knighthood in this domain.
± Neriamel is unquestionably beautiful to the (near-)human eye, but tends to come across as intimidating or judgemental and has never learnt to charm by her demeanour, relying, without awareness, overmuch on the leeway her appearance affords her in social situations.
- Neriamel has not lived. She is a virgin at twenty-six and has no close friends, nobody familiar enough to call her 'Neri'. She is fundamentally unmoored from the world and has no feeling for her place in it, relying solely on intellectual constructs to keep some sort of bearing which are very much being challenged now that her suitability as a Jedi is in question.
- Equanimity is not a skill Neriamel has succeeded in developing. She finds it difficult to be at peace with others and the galaxy, or for that matter herself. There is a undercurrent of pain in her existence.
BACKGROUND
The fact that Neriamel was born in the Hapes Cluster holds little significance to her. All but her earliest, shadowy memories are from her life in the New Jedi Order. She knows no other life.
Having trained as a Jedi all this time, much of it as the Padawan of the Cerean Jedi Master Xidi Aruun, Neriamel is at an impasse at the ripe age of twenty-six. Having been trained since childhood, she should, by all accounts, have attained knighthood by now. She had posed quite the conundrum for Master Aruun. After years of instruction, he refused to put her up for knighthood, believing that she was unlikely to pass the spiritual portion of the requirements, and knowing that this would mean the loss of her talent to the Order as she would be unwilling to serve in a lesser capacity. He could also not continue in good conscience to purport to be her teacher, as he believed himself incapable of the guidance his padawan required. He had humbly professed his failure as a teacher and asked the council to release him from his role as Neriamel's teacher.
Now the young woman finds herself facing an uncertain future.
