Never Were There Such Devoted Sisters

To say things were…terse between the Vahn sisters was an understatement. While at one time the pair were close as could be – even if they weren’t attached at the hip – that had all more or less come undone over the past couple of months. The pair could not see eye to eye for much of anything anymore, even every day mundane things. Most conversations became arguments and ended with one sister stomping off away from the other one, only to start right back again when the pair came in contact again. It had even gotten to a point where Eenia had requested from their Master that the pair of them not be trained at the same time unless there was no choice in the matter.

And why? Because of little sister’s new best friend.

A fact which made Anora beyond frustrated with her sister. She had known all of Eenia’s life that the younger girl was naïve, but really did she have to flaunt it so idiotically? Yes, sure. Anora could give credit to the fact that Kahlil was doing everything he was told, doing all of the right training, and whatever. That did not change who he was, the danger that came associated with him, or from associating with him for that matter. And yet Eenia didn’t seem to care a wit. She pranced along, side by side with him as if there was no care in the world between them. Which infuriated Anora to no end.

Which was why the pair of sisters were currently occupying one of the training rooms. If she couldn’t get the message through her sister’s thick skull with words, then damn it she was going to beat it into her.

It was an unfair advantage, and Anora knew it. The training sabers may only sting when they came in contact with skin, but by the time she was done? Eenia was going to wince every time she heard a damn saber ignite. She knew her little sister didn’t have the same finesse that Anora did when it came to the more physical side of their training, but at this point, she didn’t care. She had issued the challenge, and Eenia had accepted it – probably with the hope that Anora would finally listen to her ramblings. That hadn’t been the case at all.

Once again training sabers clashed and Anora was pulled from her reverie. Her weight shifted to the side, her intention to make Eenia over compensate and stumble forward, but the blonde sister’s gaze hardened and she shifted as well. Again the sabers clashed, this time in an array of blows before they locked together. There was almost something sinister that washed over Eenia’s face, and Anora recognized it too late.

The brunette sister felt the blow against her before she had even seen her little sister move one of her hands. The sheer power before that Force push knocked Anora back and sent her skidding, but she effortlessly got back to her feet. The first step she tried to take forward however got a practice dummy throw across the room at her. It was dodged, but clearly Eenia was done playing this game on Anora’s terms, and it was the younger sister’s turn to hold the advantage.

Being called down to meet Anora had left the younger Vahn sister skeptical. Naturally Eenia was aware that any dealings she had with her big sister were going to end in some sort of fussing or argument. Did she like it? No, of course not. Anora was her hero, the woman she aspired to be like. But Nia wasn’t particularly fond of the older girl’s closed mindedness, at least when it came to Kahlil. More than once Eenia had tried to explain, tried to get her sister to sit down and listen to what she had to say. Hell to get her sister to just meet him! But Anora refused to do any of those things, and instead tried to shove her thoughts on the matter down Nia’s throat instead.

And so Nia had done what she needed to do to keep the peace. Not exactly avoid her sister, but stay out of situations that could turn into something stressful and set them both off. So whatever had made her agree to meet with her sister? Eenia had no clue, and boy did she regret it now.

What had started as an argument had quickly escalated to yelling and screaming, and when that hadn’t been enough? Anora had threatened to beat some sense into the younger Vahn, and Eenia hadn’t backed down. Where once she would have cowed and bent to her sister’s threats, now she had stood her ground and refused to give in. Which at first had been a bad idea. Eenia could feel the places on her frame that would bruise – if they hadn’t already – where she had been struck more than once with her sister’s training saber. But she still hadn’t backed down.

In fact, the more Anora came at her, the more frustrated and then down right angry Eenia got. While she couldn’t meet her sister blow for blow every time, she kept herself from taking hits more and more until finally she seemed to find her footing. She by no means had the same grace the older Vahn had with a saber, but Nia was done being beaten down. Clashes turned to volleys, and then training sabers locked. The blonde sister could see it written all over big sister’s face. Anora was frustrated, growing impatient, and she wasn’t the only one. And Nia knew if there was one advantage she held over her sister? It was the connection she had with the Force that Anora didn’t.

Which she used. The intensity of the push she used to hit her sister with nearly took Eenia’s breath away, but she kept her ground and her focus. She watched as her older sister found her footing again, but before she could come at her, Nia threw the first thing she could feel around her. The practice dummy went sailing across the room, but of course Anora dodged it. The younger sister wasn’t done however, and she kept grabbing whatever she could and tossing it in Anora’s path, and when that wasn’t enough? A pulse of rage spiked through the younger sister so strongly, it actually caused Anora to pause.

“Eenia..!” she heard her name called from the older girl, but it sounded far away, and in that moment it didn’t matter.

The blonde sister reached out and Anora’s body went rigid. No more space closed between them, no more blows between training sabers. Just Anora’s rigid body, and the sounds of her gasping for air as Eenia let the anger she felt towards her sister drive her into finally shutting the older girl up.

It had been another normal day for Kahlil as he traveled through the Silver Jedi Temple on Kashyyk. A day off that let him explore the temple to his hearts content. Namely, the library. There was only a couple things he enjoyed more then reading a book, one of them being spending time with [member="Eenia Vahn"] , so he found a spot and began reading. Eenia had gone off to spend time with her sister, try and make it right from what he was told, so there wasn't much else for him to do.

At least until he sensed the disturbance in Eenia. The anger and frustration. Their bond made it easy for him to sense any issue, and he tossed down the book and began rushing through the halls to the training room. Once he finally got there he immediately recognized what was happening. "Nia..!" His eyes widened in horror as his hand shot up, the air between Nia and [member="Anora Vahn"] swirling rapidly before expanding, releasing a blast to knock them both back and way from each other.

Someone else coming into the room was a blessing in disguise. Never before would Anora have thought that her sister would be capable of what she was doing now. Granted, there wasn't a whole lot of room for her to think about much more than that, not with the way her vision began to black out at the edges and it became harder and harder to breathe.

And then there was another shove against her body. The pressure around her throat and lungs vanished, and when Anora hit the floor, she rolled from her back to her stomach, arms beneath her as she coughed and gagged while trying to collect her breaths and get her breathing back under her own control.

Eenia hadn't even felt [member="Kahlil Zambrano"] come into the room. All she felt was that anger, that frustration, that annoyance with Anora. She wanted her sister to stop running her mouth. To stop spouting off how she knew better than Nia did. It wasn't true, not in the least. Eenia knew what was best for herself, and nothing Anora could say was going to change that. And that fact made the grip she had on her sister tighten even more.

And then once again her name was called, and she barely had the time to glance away from Anora before the sisters were being shot apart.

Nia hit the floor hard, and a gasp was sucked in. From the harsh landing to the break in her focus, it sent the blonde sister reeling enough that she lifted both hands to her head in an attempt to stop it from spinning.

Kahlil rushed to [member="Eenia Vahn"] 's side, gently setting a hand on her shoulder. "Nia.. Are you okay..?" There was worry clear in the ex-Sith's voice as he glanced her over. A flash of anger formed at the sight of the bruises and his gaze traveled to [member="Anora Vahn"] , if only for a moment. They both had beaten each other up pretty well, though it was Eenia that he was truly worried about.

She had dove into the Dark, something that he even worried about falling to. He bit his lip as he watched her.

There wasn't a whole lot of movement from Eenia, but Anora managed to get herself up on her elbows and then she turned over some so that she could see across the way. She eyed her sister's still frame, and then her gaze shifted to Kahlil. For a long time she just stared, silently seething, but she knew the line between feeling and action. The line her sister had seemingly no problem crossing - with blunt force no less.

And then her head shook, and she groaned as she pushed herself to sit up slowly. "You're going to get her killed." she huffed out with a wince. "That," she pointed to her sister. "What just happened? It came because of you. She is so blinded by whatever-" she gestured at the pair of them. "Is going on between you two that she will obviously do whatever it takes to defend you."

[member="Kahlil Zambrano"]

"I.. No." Kahlil half heartily mumbled against [member="Anora Vahn"] 's accusations, but it was hard for him to deny what had happened. It was because [member="Eenia Vahn"] wanted to defend their relationship that it grew to this level of hostility. Though, it was Anora's constant hostility that made it worse. The young man's eyes narrowed as he stood between the Sister's, getting protective himself of Nia.

"You're the one who wouldn't talk. You'd just yell and scream at her. It wasn't me that pushed here here. It was you. And if you can't realize that, then you shouldn't talk to your sister again."

At first, Anora's eyes widened and her brows lofted. She sat there, staring this way at the boy across from her. It wasn't until he stood between the sisters that the older of the pair let out a single, ironic laugh. "You're not serious, are you?" Her eyes drifted past him to Eenia for a long moment, then went back to Kahlil. "I tried talking, I tried reasoning, hell I tried begging. But you have her so..so twisted up inside that she can't see straight!

"So yeah, we fought about all of this. A lot." she stated, and pushed herself to her feet slowly. "But that?" she pointed to her sister's now stirring frame. "That came from this new, desperate need she feels to step in and protect your reputation. And if she crossed that line against me for that? Then you need to ask yourself what is she going to be willing to do when you're in actual danger?"

[member="Kahlil Zambrano"]

"Did you stop and think to ever, ever, talk to me? Get to know who I was? No, you just see my father. My family. Like all the others. I'm not them. I want nothing to do with them. This?" He motioned to [member="Eenia Vahn"] behind him. "What we have? It's ours. Neither of us will ever throw that away. But you're so determined to make me the bad guy you can't even see what you did wrong."

He turned from [member="Anora Vahn"] to crouch beside Nia, offering a hand as she roused. Regardless of how Anora and him felt about each other there was a far more important matter at hand. The dark that Nia had dived into. "Nia.."

"This has nothing to do with your family!" Anora countered with a frown. Though that wasn't entirely true. His father was bad news, but for Anora that wasn't the problem. "Its you, Zambrano!" she nearly growled out at him. "Tell me, how many people have you killed, hm? How many people fell victim when you were still playing in the Darkness?! Tell me just how--"

"Anora..."

The older sister sighed, but put her hands up and shook her head. After what had just happened, she knew to leave well enough alone.

The arguing had been enough to draw Eenia out of...whatever it was she had slipped into after being blasted apart from her sister. She groaned softly, touched her head, and then refused to try and sit up.

"Anora..." she sighed out at her sister, "Shut up."

When she heard Kahlil's voice, her eyes peeled open slowly and she turned her head just a little to look at him. She stared at him for a long moment, then felt her face turn scarlet before she looked away from him. She was obviously aware of what had happened, and there was a sharp sting of moisture in the corners of her eyes before she turned herself over and forced herself to get up - or to at least try to. It wasn't going to well for her.

[member="Kahlil Zambrano"]

Kahlil seemed to bristle at [member="Anora Vahn"] 's accusations. Yes, he had killed hundreds. Possibly thousands. But he was never playing in the darkness. He was forced in that life without any way of getting free until only recently. There was so much for him to make up for, but to be treated the way Anora had been treating him? There was so much he wanted to say, but hearing [member="Eenia Vahn"] 's voice brought him out of any anger that might of been building.

He rushed right by her side, setting a hand on her shoulder. "Come on. Lets get you back to your room.."

Surprisingly - mostly to herself - Eenia didn't flinch when Kahlil touched her shoulder. She did however turn a deep shade of scarlet, and she put her hands against her face for a long moment.

"Eenia..." Anora's voice cut through, but the blonde sister ignored her.

She instead moved her hands and put them underneath her so that she could push herself up to her feet. She was a little shaky, but she made it up. However she didn't stop and wait for Kahlil. Eenia moved away from both of the other bodies in the room so that she could get out of it quickly and without looking back at either of them.

She was absolutely ashamed of herself, and at that moment she couldn't face either her sister or Kahlil.

Anora's focus broke away from Kahlil and she watched her little sister instead. She watched as the blonde attempted to hide her face, and her brow creased down as concerned colored her features. "Eenia...."

But the younger girl worked to get to her feet, and Anora sighed once she got there. "Nia!" she called after the younger girl when she retreated from the room, but she didn't chase after her. Not right now at least.

Her gaze instead went to [member="Kahlil Zambrano"] and she sighed. "I would give her some time if I were you..." she stated, yet there was no bite or bark to her tone now.

Kahlil stood to follow after [member="Eenia Vahn"] , but he could already tell she wanted to be alone. He tried to think of something to say, anything, reaching out to grasp her shoulder. But nothing came to mind. He just lowered his arm, letting out a sigh as the blonde woman walked out of the room. His hazel gaze glanced over to [member="Anora Vahn"] as she spoke. She was right. He nodded slowly.

"Yeah. You're right."

Anora had remained seated, and she lifted her hands to rake the fingers of both hands through her hair until they caught traction. Once they caught, she tugged roughly at her own locks before sighing heavily and pulling her hands away.

"I can't sit here and pretend to just magically change my mind about you, or about the very real danger you put my sister in by just being around her." Her gaze lifted back to him, and while her expression was hardened, she sighed again and it was a body sagging sort of sigh. "That being said, it's...painfully-" she touched her throat briefly. "Obvious that she is not going to let go of you, not matter what happens, or what she has to do to make sure of it..."

[member="Kahlil Zambrano"]

"I don't care about changing your mind." He stated plainly, his arms crossed over his chest. "We're Jedi. No matter what, we're going to end in in danger. With or without me by her side the Sith will come after her. After you. After me. I love her. And nothing you do or say is going to change the fact that she loves me." Kahlil found a spot to sit by one of the walls, sliding down it with a sigh. He had no idea how to help Nia now, not with her falling to the dark like that. He just wanted to support her, but she needed more then that. She was a Jedi. He was a Jedi. This was why Jedi weren't allowed to love before.

[member="Anora Vahn"]

Anora shook her head firmly, "That's not what I mean, and you know it." she stated, now her tone was a bit more firm. "I'm talking about the danger she's going to be in with you. The Sith are always going to be a problem, that's not going to change any time soon. But you bring a danger all on your own, and the closer she gets to you? The more danger she's in."

Her arms folded as she peered at him now. "You know it's true. You know that her being close to you, loving you puts her in a whole new league of danger. Because you know that if something were to happen to you? Eenia will not hesitate to throw herself between you and whatever is wrong."

[member="Kahlil Zambrano"]

"So, what. I should lie to her? Tell her that I don't want to be with her? Ignore how I feel for her?" In a way, that's exactly what Kahlil should do to keep Nia safe, but at the same time living that sort of lie. That'd be no different then being a Sith. "That was my life as a Sith, lying to myself and pretending so I could survive. Do you know what it's like to live a lie only because you're afraid to die? You might as well be dead."

[member="Anora Vahn"]
