New Beginnings (Equa)

Tavjurn Phil

Guest
Jedi Temple

He was a dark haired fellow with long legs and a broad chest. Youthful for a human male long past his twenties. And the twinkle in his eye held a grand story years in the making. He was back.

"Hi. Phil. Phil Treymore. I called ahead."

The silver protocol droid flinched for a moment. It was here to welcome new arrivals. Though. Nobody ever called ahead?

"I am sorry Master Traveler. But my records don't show any log of anyone calling ahead. Perhaps we have lost your reservation."

Phil only smiled,

"It's okay. I called a few hundred years ago and got the same answer. ...I'll just wait. Thanks."

He took a seat on the black leather couches and smirked to himself. He was dressed like a spacer but for the copper-tipped lightsaber on his belt.

He'd waited a few hundred years already. Another ten minutes wouldn't kill him.

After a long time, Equa was in the Jedi Temple again. He had wanted to get a Padawan for long time. The last time he had a Padawan, it didn't come our very well. He had almost abandoned him. But he swore it will not happen anymore. He knew it.

Before stepping into the temple, he took her tablet out and tried to find a masterless Padawan. And fortunately, there was one. He was called Phil Treymore (@[member="Tavjurn Phil"]). Seemed like a normal name, so Equa assumed he is a great person, not someone who will fall to the Dark Side after a few trainings.

Equa walked to the droid and asked: "Hey, is there any chance a Padawan called Phil Treymore is here?" He asked it so loudly, that most likely the man heard it.

Phil perked up and stood,

"Yes there is. ...I'm Phil. Though, not officially a Padawan, as of yet. Heh. What can I do for you Knight Jedi? Always happy to help."

He smiled broadly. Expectantly. Filled with memories.

Equa looked at the man who had stood up. Well, he looked normal. And the best thing was, that he wasn't an alien. Even though Equa liked every different being in this Galaxy, he still felt a bit awkward when he had to teach an alien-type of creature. So the man's species was a huge plus. Equa felt a lot better now that he knew he has met a human again.

"So... I saw your name in my pad and... well, it was kind of old, actually. It was posted there a few hundred years ago, but I see it has been updated. So here I am. If you want to train as a Padawan, then I would love to be your Master," Equa said. He was friendly. That was because he was in a good mood. Normally, he was very serious and a bit angry. But today was a good day. He felt like this will be his favourite day of the new normal life.

Phil smiled,

"You've got yourself a deal then. When do we start?"

He smirked and gave a short bow before continuing,

"I'm Phil Treymore. You can call me Phil or Treymore, as you like. What should I call you?"

"Well, Phil, we should start now unless you have anything against it..." Equa said. He actually wanted to see his updated training room. It had to be better than the one he had had before. Well, the previous one was kind of lame and terrible. It looked like an old prison which wasn't very good at all. The room was uncivilized, but now it had to be a bit better.

Phil smiled,

"Sounds good to me man. Lead on. I'll follow. ...If you have any questions? Let me know."

The dark haired Apprentice waved Equa onward. This Temple was new to Phil. He'd probably get lost if he tried to find his way around. Best to let the Jedi Knight take the lead.

"So let's go then..." Equa said. He smiled and then turned around. He started walking towards the room he kept thinking about. Probably there was nothing inside the room yet. He wanted to design it himself. But it was actually good, that there was nothing yet. He could teach the pupil as they set up the room.

When they had walked a bit, Equa turned to the man again. "Are you good with the Force? Have you learned anything?"

Phil walked and talked,

"Me? I'm alright, I suppose. You'll find there isn't much that can surprise me. But I'd like to start from the beginning, if that's alright? Meditation, physical abilities, ...that sort of thing. I'd like to just enjoy being an Apprentice for awhile."

He smiled and nodded. He could start from square one. That was fine. Phil nodded as they reached the room Equa had mentioned.

"Oh man. The room looks empty. Guess your kinda new to this too eh? Haha."

"Alright, then... We'll start with my favourite thing and then we'll move on to meditation and inner peace..." Equa said. He was sure Phil is great, but he still wanted to see, how trained he actually is. At the moment, he had to wait. The Apprentice wanted to start from the beginning, so Equa had no right to ignore it.

When they reached the room, Equa opened the door and looked around. It seemed a bit better, but it was really empty. "I guess I am..." He entered the room and looked around. His own objects were transported to his dorm room, so he had to bring them here. But this had to wait too.

"So... It's not a really big room, but I think it's not small either. But I guess we should start now." He sighed and asked then: "Do you know the Jedi Code?"

Phil opened his mouth to speak but then quickly shut it. He rubbed his chin in thought. Maybe it was a good idea to ask first.

"Well. I suppose that all depends on what version the Jedi are using nowadays. Huh? ...So. I suppose I don't. Maybe you'd better fill me in. It's been a long while since I've had to recite the Code."

Phil smiled. He felt very old now.

Equa nodded. He sighed and then started reciting the code: "Jedi are the guardians of peace in the galaxy. Jedi use their powers to defend and to protect. Jedi respect all life, in any form. Jedi serve others rather than ruling over them, for the good of the galaxy. Jedi seek to improve themselves through knowledge and training. This is the most recent version if it. But there are other ones, too."

He turned around, thinking, what to do with this room. He wanted the man to understand the Code... he wanted him to think about it.

"But the original and, in my opinion, the best version if it is as follows: There is no emotion, there is peace. There is no ignorance, there is knowledge. There is no passion, there is serenity. There is no chaos, there is harmony. There is no death, there is the Force."

Phil scratched his chin and nodded. It was new. But it was good.

"I like it. ...And yes. I can live that code. I'll do my best to memorize it too. So that one day I might pass it on to the next generation of Jedi. Well said."

He placed his arms behind his back and began to walk around the room. Looking at the walls, the floor, and the ceiling.

"But tell me Master Jedi. What does the Code mean for you?"

"The Code... it's like a rule. For me, the Code is the path to inner peace. Only the Jedi who live according to the Code can have inner peace. It's simple. Only a person who doesn't care about the Code can fall to the Darkness. That's what the Code means for me..." Equa answered to Phil's question.

He turned to the man again and continued.

"I have studied ancient times... the times before 0 ABY. And I have found out a lot about the Jedi who lived during that time. I have studied their opinions, their actions... and I have found out how much they have cared about the Code. But it's the past and it doesn't matter now... Just... Jedi were strong. The Code played a major role in their life. Now I don't see it anymore."

He turned around and looked into nowhere.

"What do you think of the Code? What does it symbolize? What does it say?"

Phil smiled. It was a good question.

"All knowledge Is light. And what-so-ever is light, is good. Indeed, that which is of The Force is light most brightly. And he that receives light, and continues in The Force, receives more light. And that light grows brighter and brighter until the perfect day. Where a man's character is become light completely. And he is The Force and The Force is now he."

He smirked,

"So the old saying goes. ...So yes. I believe the Jedi Code is light. Accumulated and forsworn by our forefathers. That we, the students of the Force, might receive it and grow brighter within ourselves. Such is the path of destiny that lies at our feet. Such is the way of the Jedi."

Phil shrugged. Such was the manner of a human and imperfect man.

"Hmm... Alright," Equa said. He turned towards Phil and nodded. "Well, I am trying to teach Jedi the inner peace. And that's what I shall teach you. In case you would like to learn something else... like lightsabers or... the Force or whatever, just say so."

He sat down into the meditation position.

"I hope you will remember the Jedi Code. So we can move on now. We'll start with the basic things: Control and Force Sense."

Phil followed suit and sat down to meditate.

"That sounds great. If you don't mind. I'll let you go first and I'll follow your example. This shouldn't take me very long to grasp. I hope."

He smiled and awaited Equa's lesson to begin.

Equa nodded and closed his eyes. He took a piece of metal from his pocket and smirked. He wanted to see, if the man senses an object coming towards him.

He gently threw the piece of metal towards the man. It was sharpened, so in case Phil doesn't sense it, he would get a bit hurt.

Phil was meditating. With his senses upon the Force he could indeed sense the approaching object. So he tried to catch it.

"Ow. ...Oh. What was that?"

The metal was sharp and Phil did not like catching it. Maybe next time he would step out of the way.

"Was I suppose to catch that? Seems a bit sharp to me."

"I see, that your senses are good... But without opening your eyes, use the Force to throw it into my hand..." Equa said. He hoped the man is trained enough. Telekinetic powers were something Jedi Initiates learned from the beginning... Thinking about it reminded Equa a few of his thoughts. He had always wanted to teach a few Initiates... or even more than a few. Strangely, he started feeling friendlier and friendlier with every day. Maybe the vacation he had taken actually affected him so much?

Equa opened his eyes and looked at Phil. He raised his hand into a certain point in air and waited.
