New Beginnings (Equa)

Phil nodded in agreement and closed his eyes. He meditated on the Force and asked it to grant him greater vision. As if from memory, the Force understood and expanded his mind's eye. Phil could see the room, Equa, and all of it's belongings. All at once. He could see, hear, and experience so much more this way.

But the student remained focused and concentrated upon Equa's hand. Then he tossed the item into it with ease. The Force could guide his path.

Phil opened his eyes,

"That was a very good test. It required that I use the Force to see greater things. It was not difficult. But important."

"This test showed me your powers. I wanted to see, how much you can already too..." Equa said. He closed his eyes again and relaxed. He tried to clear his thoughts, but he didn't stop thinking about the lesson. "We can start with meditating now. I want you to close your eyes and relax. Just... don't think about anything. Probably your mind is full of thousands of thoughts."

He stopped for a moment, then continued.

"Try to group similar thoughts into one bigger one. And then start by 'deleting' them one by one... Try to imagine the thought dissolving. But keep one thought... don't you even dare to 'delete' this one. you can choose the thought you want to keep, but it shouldn't be anything emotional..."

Phil nodded his understanding and closed his eyes to meditate.

It was a familiar prayer. His mind drifting back to the cold mountains of Yavin Eight. He emerged back into the training room of old and saw all the familiar faces. He smiled to himself and looked out that famous window. And once again there they stood. The Golden Mountains. His center.

All his thoughts vanished in an instant. All that was left were the timeless drifting currents of the Force.

Phil was centered. He was at peace.

Equa meditated. He started meditating after he had given Phil the exercise. He didn't see anything around him, he didn't hear anything. It was the inner peace he tried to achieve so hard. He had achieved it a few times before, but it only lasted for a moment. And it happened again. Only for a moment he had the chance to feel the peace. Then he stopped denying other thoughts. They all flowed into his mind again.

"Where are you from, Phil?" Equa whispered after some time. He didn't want to interrupt his meditation so suddenly. But he had to know some stuff.

Phil opened one eye and smirked. He thought Equa was going to try to speak Telepathically to him. But I guess not.

"I'm from all over the place. Coruscant. Cinnagar. Midan. I travel frequently and host a large number of odd jobs. But one day I'd like to start laying down some roots again. Maybe start calling the Jedi Temple home again. I don't know."

Phil smiled.

"What about you Master? Care to tell me about yourself?"

Equa nodded as Phil opened one of his eyes, smirked and answered to him. He had wandered around, too, during his Padawan years. It had been a great time. But being a Knight was everything he had ever wanted. Now he had the right to be a Consular, to actually work with the Force.

The memories brought him to the answer.

"I am from Umbara, though I guess I am strangely very... human-like. I didn't have a very great family and I was brought to the Temple very early. Because my mother didn't are about me. And then, after being a Youngling for a long time, I became a Padawan. But I didn't have a Master, which is kind of odd. I believed in the Unifying Force. Do you know, what it is?" Equa talked. He was waiting for Phil's answer, but he was ready to continue his story.

Phil shrugged,

"I'm not familiar with The Unifying Force. Could you explain it?"

Equa nodded again and then sighed, but he didn't mean anything bad with that. He was just trying to be ready for his a bit longer monologue.

"The Force is a strange thing. It's a philosophy, it's a religion, it's a tool and whatever other stuff. And people see it differently. If we look at the Force as a philosophy, we can talk about many different aspects. Since the beginning of all Force-sensitive groups, four major and most known views have been around. They are the Light Side of the Force, the Dark Side of the Force, the Living Force and the Unifying Force. Like you might have already noticed, the Light and the Dark views are opposites. But so are the Living Force and the Unifying Force. People who believe in the Living Force normally live in the moment. They see the Force however they want to see it, but they believe it's life, that there is Force in every life form. But the Unifying Force is all about destiny. It denies the Light and the Darkness. People who see it like that tend to think about time as a whole. They don't live in the moment. And they think the Force treats everyone equally, that unifies us all."

He smirked.

"Do you understand it now?"

Phil nodded his head,

"Ah. Of course. I understand what you saying. When you explain it like that? It makes it very easy to understand."

Then he thought for a moment and continued,

"What about your goals Master? Every Jedi has goals. Do you mind if I ask what yours are?"

Now Equa smiled.

"Well, you are right. Everyone has goals of some kind. And it's fine to ask me about things like that. I want to help people with finding their true self, with finding the inner peace. That's all, I guess... I don't love fighting, but I will do it when needed... I am more like an academic person."

He closed his eyes for a moment, thought about something, then opened them again.

"Since you are a Padawan, you have time to find yourself and your goals. You'll still have the chance to do it later, but then everyone will expect you to actually do something. But maybe you have some kind of a dream already? Like, about what you would like to do as a Force-user?"

Phil smiled. He already knew,

"I'm looking for somebody. A woman. We knew each other a very long time ago. She, is my destiny."

He shrugged. Not many people knew that.

"But in order to find her? I must become a Jedi. I must have the Force to guide me to her. It's hard to explain. Sorry."

Equa understood Phil. He had had a woman who had been very important to him, too.

"I see it's a very rough thing for you, so you don't have to talk about it, if you don't want to. But if you want me to help, then just say so."

He closed his eyes and almost started meditating. But before he did it, he telepathically said to Phil: "When you're ready, try to meditate again."

Phil nodded and shifted in his seat. He sighed and closed his eyes to focus. The Force was a moving current. He only needed to immerse himself in it. His heart moved and swayed as he thought about Meridian. It took him a minute but Phil eventually focused and let the Force move into him.

"I am centered Master. We may begin."

Equa tried to achieve the inner peace again, but he failed miserably. This time he didn't even achieve it for a short moment. Not for a single second. Too many thoughts were in his head and he felt like he needs to rest from them a bit. He has to do something else. After all, he had meditated a considerable amount of times today and it was already kind of an addiction.

He silently opened his eyes and left the position by rising up. He walked to a wall and just looked at it. Well, technically he didn't look at it. He didn't look at anything. He just thought. Maybe Phil heard him? What was up with the woman? And what is Kaleeya, his own old friend doing?

He decided to clear these thoughts and wait until Phil stops meditating. For Equa, it didn't matter, how long he decided to do it. It was completely up to him.

Phil waited but Equa seemed distracted. Perhaps they were done for the day.

"Oh? ...Um. I'm done meditating, I suppose. The Force has no answers for me today. Perhaps I shall try again tomorrow."

Phil stood up.

"Will there be anything else for today Master Dominator?"

Equa turned to Phil as he finished meditating. He didn't know what to do, because this little, short time of training had given him so much to think about.

"Are you willing to tire yourself more today? To disturb your peace?" Equa asked. Even though her wording might have sounded even a bit rude, his voice was plain. There were no emotions.

"If no, then we can continue later. But if yes... then we shall start with more difficult powers."

Phil nodded,

"This has been a perfect first day. Thank you Master. But I think I shall go get my belongings and settle in. Find a room and all that. ...Tomorrow we can continue the lesson. Again. Thank you. This has been a wonderful first day back."

Phil bowed low. He was grateful.
