TE HASA , GREE ENCLAVE

For years the isolationist Gree Enclave kept archeologists at bay, holding tight to their ancient secrets on Te Hasa. Not until students and professors at the University of Sanbra brokered a deal with the local government did the secrets come to light.

Uncovered in a desert dig site, young college students uncovered ancient weapon technology long forgotten. Piecing together a rudimentary history, it was quickly determined the technology was created by an ancient sub-race of Gree long wiped out by civil war and famine.

Not knowing the power of these ancient weapons, leaks began in the dig site. Weapon information and potential schematics leaked. Artifacts being processed for further study have gone missing. Rumors on the space lanes of the Hutt Cartel and pirates catching wind of the dig site and wanting the technology have swirled in dive bars and back alleys for months. Now word has reached the Gree Enclave that those looking to disrupt the quiet isolation of the system were encroaching closer.

Will you protect the technology from those looking to sow chaos or make a massive windfall from selling what has been hidden on the black market?

Welcome to a public thread inspired by the weekend treasure hunts of old! I won’t be providing resistance or DMing much, but I may throw an NPC or two in as I post. Feel free to get creative - this is a great opportunity to brainstorm or introduce an idea for the factory/codex. I just ask that the weapons(whatever those are) are not captured in just a handful of posts

Persephone blinked against the bright sun, feeling as if sand had gotten in them. She had came to Te Hasa as part of an educational opportunity regarding the dig site. The University of Sabra had taken applications for those interested in history and archeology but were still a few years away from university. She had gotten in one of the rounds and was whisked off to Te Hasa to learn. Persie had even roped in Iko, despite the boy not interested in any of this in the slightest.

"You hear those two talking this morning? Saying they think pirates are headed this way? How? How would some weird college kid know about pirates? I'm the daughter of a pirate and I don't even know."

To be fair, she wasn't sure if her biological father was a pirate. It was just something she had always been told. So far she had been on his trail, having a first initial and of course her last time thanks to a fellow teenager. Perhaps it was childish and stupid to keep searching, but now that her baby sister had been born her parents must have felt guilty because she suddenly had a bit more freedom.

She and Iko were walking to the dig site, ready to go back underground and view some of the historical records that had been found recently. Due to the newfound security concerns, no way two young teens were allowed anywhere near the weapons. If there even were weapons. Persie personally was unsure - the cynic in her wanted to say it was a way to drum up funding.

Iko sighed to himself, running a hand through his hair as he looked around with a frown on his face. History and archaeological stuff just wasn't his thing. It wasn't that he was dumb. He just preferred the here and now. Though he blinked as he heard Persephone speaking, turning his attention over towards her and tilting his head to the side. Urh...What had she been talking about? Something about pirates heading this way? Oh yeah. Well. Iko wasn't too worried. Persie had her knife and Iko had worked at least somewhat on using his bare hands to fight. He had slowly but surely started to try and cut back on using a sword. It gave a bad appearance. And he had eventually learned how much appearance is important in how people treat you.

"I dunno. Maybe there could be some pirates out there, looking for me after the whole incident with Casaana. Ain't see her in a long time either, come to think of it. Have you?"

He shrugged his shoulders at that. He could have made some comment about how Persie could be related to pirates since she could steal people's breaths away and all that jazz but it just didn't feel right to him anymore. They were friends now. It felt right. Trying to say something all "charming" just felt wrong. Though he tilted his head at the idea of Persie actually having a pirate as a dad.

"I mean. Having a pirate for a dad beats having a corpse for one. Think of all the booty and treasures he could give you eventually."

Eaton was wanting to help with his sister’s work. He was a thief, but if he needed to? He could take a real job. Honest to goodness treasuring hunting, pathfinding, But this? It was more looking at things that his Witch Sister didn’t want to look at. A set of ruins, a desert world. Brooke was more susceptible to the changes in humidity, and really, the Force had its way around her.

She didn’t want to run the risk of Gree tech being… weird. And that was why Eaton had made the trip to Te Hasa. Excited was the term for it. He had a few things to bring with him, explorer PIP droids from the Levantine, an enchanted cloak from his sister, and the goals he had of breaking into the Gree ruins.

How did Brooke hear about it? Didn’t matter. He landed the Pelagic in the sands, and opened up the datapad. Map software was up. He looked it over. Temple ruins. That he could do. Checking his belt, he had the ascension cables. He had the knife that could open most traditional locks.

“Time to go.”
He nodded as he put the droid in its holster on his hip.

DARK EMPIRE
TE HASA, OUTER RIM TERRITORIES

divider-megint-DE2.png
For some time now, the Dark Empire had been keeping an eye on the Gree Enclave, especially as the Diarchy began expanding into the region to gain access to the Gree's vast technological prowess, most likely in order to fuel further expansion across the New Territories. Initially, the Empire had been content in simply observing the Diarchy's progress in the region and how they would go about towards acquire ancient Gree technology to incorporate into their every growing star fleet. However recent developments had caused a shift in attitude in the Empire, which now required a direct intervention to both advance Imperial interests and further sabotage the Diarchy

Recently on the world of Te Hasa, what appeared to be an ancient weapons system had been uncovered by students of the University of Sanbra with weapons information and potential schematics soon being leaked across the holonet, which inevitably caught the Empire's interest. Seeing an opportunity to grab peices of Gree technology that would enable the Empire to even the playing field against the Diarchy, Lord-Regent Marlon Sularen sent his trusted subordinate, Colonel Rackham to Te Hasa to seize control over the dig site and begin securing any sort of weapons and artifacts that could be further studied by the Imperial Science Bureau.

Before long, Colonel Rackham would arrive at Te Hasa onboard his flagship, the INV Thunderer ready to initiate the Imperial operation. Anticipating possible resistance from the local Grees and an intervention from the Diarchy, reinforcements had been positioned in a nearby sector to support him in any sort of military confrontation given how similar expeditions launched by Sularen had ended throughout the past. There would be no room for error today, as this operation would not only serve to advance the Empire's goals but further project it's power across the New Territories as a stern warning to those who might challenge it's power and legitimacy.

Thus, as the INV Thunderer began to enter the upper atmosphere of Te Hasa, the first wave of Imperial forces would begin deployment launching from the Star Destroyer's ventral hangars as a squadron of four HAAGs escorted by a squadron of TIE Fighters would make their way towards the dig site carrying both elements of the Stormtrooper Corps and Imperial Special Forces in yet another display of Imperial might. Soon the site would belong to the Empire, and with it the secrets of the Gree.

"Yeah, Casi and I hung out a bit but I haven't seen her since some party some other Jedi kid threw. Crystal-something. Wasn't my scene, all Jedi kids then me....I left early."

Shoulders shrugged. She would have to try to reach out to Casaana Casaana again, perhaps all three of them could go on some adventure. Last time that happened things didn't go well but it wasn't going to stop her from suggesting such things. However, all three teenagers were busy. Casaana did her Jedi training. Iko was working under Salacia Consolidated. She had private tutors and had been going on 'field trips' as a result to do hands-on learning.

"How's the stuff going with Judah? Still learning how to salvage and run things and all that...?"

While she and Iko Vel Iko Vel may no longer be together in a more romantic sense, Persephone still thought the other a good friend. She thought it was going to be awkward inviting him along and trying to be close but it was actually the opposite. More a comforting, relaxing feeling that they still could hang out and be close and go on the adventure of life as they progressed into adults. Especially since they were similar - both had lost their parents, now trying to figure out what growing up was without that force in their lives. Persephone had Myra and Makai, Iko had been taken in as an intern with Makai's father, both living entirely different lives than before.

As they descended down below ground, little did they know the Dark Empire was looming ever closer...

At the mentioning of the crystal party, and Persephone leaving early, Iko couldn't help but put an arm around his friend, giving her a small side arm hugged.

"Well. Think of it this way. You left the party early. I left the Order early to spend time with you. Just seems like the Jedi have a habit of causing people to leave early."

Iko joked slightly, before stretching his arms out again, folding them along his front. A small little smile on his face...That slowly started to turn to a frown. Something felt wrong. The hair on the back of his neck was standing on edge and the lad wasn't too sure why. Maybe it was trying to warn him that he said the wrong thing to Persie. After all, girls could be scary. Or maybe it was something else...He honestly had no clue.

"Yeah. We're still doing salvaging and stuff. I'm working on my appearance more. My words as well. Not going to get much respect if I walk, talk and look like some Coruscanti Orphan. It's a bit of a downside, since I miss carrying around a lightsaber or something. I hate not having something to protect myself with....but apparently swords and lightsabers give off the "wrong message."

Treasure hunting, illegal salvage, that was all part of his greater gig. Getting credits through whatever means. And maybe finding something out of these ruins? And bringing it to the right people? Could give him the feel-goods he needed. Not that he was truly seeking out a new leaf on life. Nope, he was just better in the means than he had been, and sometimes? Going your own way, like the Netrunners of Denon, was the best way to stick it to the larger galactic powers.

What he hadn’t expected was the others that were here. Had his ship really found a Star Destroyer in orbit before he stepped out? Probably. Those Imperial types always traveled big. Just once he’d like to see one flying something like a Lambda or Nubian courier. They’d still have their battle droids, sure, but they’d be saving fuel.

Though, maybe it was part of the uniform, drag the pilots and troopers that were under the control of your starship wherever they wanted to go. All he needed was the Pelagic and the gifts his sister gave him. Sure, he could practice the spells, but did he really need them? Tools worked just as well. Making the trek, he was going through his water, but finally he came to the edge of the dig site.

A low whistle, and the PIP droid in his pocket turned. “Get a shot of that, Pip.” Eaton nodded before making his way closer to the edge. “Looks like we got a way down over there. Descent gear will come in handy.

Looking he saw some rock outcrops. Grabbing a length of rope he worked a trucker’s hitch to a pretty sizable rock and started the descent.

IN ORBIT

"So you want us to believe that Rackham Rackham called you personally today and told you no disintegrations," Beth shot at Logan.

"Yes," was all Logan replied.

"Bull, I don't believe it."

"Listen, Beth, he knows I'm about business. If you were more on your game...maybe he would even call you sometimes. I doubt it, though; he doesn't like to talk to paper towels as much as I do."

"Can it laserbrain," Beth shot back, "I'm trying to calibrate this."

Saltare entered the briefing room as the two other Inferno members finished talking.

"What did Rackham want, Logan?" Saltare said nonchalantly, hiding a smirk.

Logan turned to Beth and gestured in Saltare's direction as his answer.

"I hate this unit," was all that came out of Beth's mouth as she shook her head.

TE HASA

The shuttle rocked heavily as it entered the upper atmosphere of Te Hasa. Saltare's squad was seated and going over final weapon and armor checks.

"Should be an easy time today," Saltare said over their internal comms. "Our orders are to overpower the academics and take control of this compound."

Saltare held up a holo-pad, and an image of the Gree Enclave appeared floating before his squad.

"No lethal force unless necessary; use less lethal as needed. Looks like we're here to win the hearts and minds of the people. Multiple Imperial units, Stormtroopers, and Commando squads are backing us. Brass wants overwhelming Imperial might to bring this place under our control. We touch down in 5, get ready."

The HAAG shuttle continued to fall toward the ground until its boosters fired, and it slowed its descent. The side doors slid back into their housings, and Saltare stepped out onto the desert planet of Te Hasa.

Dozens of stormtroopers and imperial commands followed suit, exiting shuttles and forming up.

"Let's move," Saltare ordered as his squad fell into step with the other Imperial units, moving closer to their objective.

"Yeah...large groups of Jedi ain't for me...even if it is ones my age. As for the blaster, maybe you should get trained how to use a blaster more effectively? Those seem pretty 'normal' to have throughout the galaxy? I mean it doesn't send the right message in business but seems more acceptable somehow?"

Descending down into the dig site, the temperature started to get cooler. They were getting deeper, joining a main group that was already down working. Artificial lights had been strung, a communications table and holonet setup were down in the depths, using it to refer back for research or hail someone either at the surface or university.

As they drew closer, communications crackled, an announcement over the din.

"Reports of stormtroopers in the area. Looks like Dark Empire. Advising all students and professors to evacuate while they can....again, all students and professors to abandon the dig site..."

Seemed they weren't the only ones after ancient secrets.

"Urgh. But blasters are sooooo boring. Everyone uses one!"

There was still a bit of the little kid inside Iko. The kid that wanted to seem all cool, which he wasn't going to seem like if he just carried around a blaster. Now if it was like a super blaster with spikes coming out of it...No. No. He shook his head, dismissing that thought. Ranged weapons just weren't really his thing. It always came back to melee. His own hands.

"Reports of stormtroopers in the area. Looks like Dark Empire. Advising all students and professors to evacuate while they can....again, all students and professors to abandon the dig site..."

As the announcement came, Iko froze for a moment. His eyes growing dark for a moment as he stared ahead of himself. The small little kid inside of Iko had been snuffed out like a flame. The boy had quite a big bone to pick with the Dark Empire still. Flexing his hands out for a moment as he debated it in his mind. He didn't have any weapons on his body but Judah Dashiell Judah Dashiell had been wise enough to get Iko self defense lessons...but at the same time, his eyes darted towards Persephone. Softening ever so slightly as he sighed to himself.

"...Come on. We should get going."

Now wasn't the time for revenge. Maybe if he had been by himself, sure. But Persie was here. Iko wouldn't be able to live with himself if she got hurt all because he wanted to get revenge for a man who was dead. No, for now his focus had to be on protecting himself and Persie as Iko closed his eyes for a moment. Focusing on their surroundings, letting the Force enhance his senses. It might not do a lot but it would at least give them time to react if someone tried to get the jump on them.

The sheer magnitude of this find was going to be great. He had a few things that he knew he could pay off with this, mostly paying off his sister and her incessant pestering that he come train in the Witch skills that she had. Mostly so she would ‘stop making trinkets for him’ and ‘he could do it himself.’

Didn’t she want him safe? If she made them, there was so much less of an issue of him doing something wrong and it backfiring. Though, being able to enchant rope to untie, or to tie itself? That could be useful.

Exploration was so much fun, is what they said. It was dirty, and a lot of work. But it got him paid and he didn’t need to have a regular job, or worse, deal with combat situations. Eaton was more the ‘throw sand in your eye and run’ type. He had the honor blade from home, and a telescopic staff, but that was more to threaten monsters that came his way.

And pirates, really.

As he started to rappel down, he heard the call… All students and professors to vacate? Good thing he was neither then. A few more jumps and he made it to the first outcrop. And down again. Hopefully he could get out and to his ship in time… But there was something calling to him. He just wasn’t sure what it really was…

Hopefully it was just the credits that any kind of score would earn him.

"Can you shoot a blaster though? I really want to know how. Maybe you can give me lessons."

Point at the enemy, squeeze the trigger is all she really knew. Persephone wasn't sure if Iko Vel Iko Vel actually was a marksman or not. He used to be a Jedi and they knew all sorts of things, so perhaps he had been trained at one point in time. If not, she would endeavor to find a suitable tutor.

Listening to the announcement, Persephone frowned. Why bring stormtroopers to an area? It wasn't as if they were armed by any real means. Unless one counted tools used to pick through rock and sediment. She was confident a good shovel swing to someone's head would put them out of commission.

"Go where? Our camp is here so....you're thinking of hiding in the rocks or somethin' til its over?"

By now, it was a scramble around the dig site. She and Iko were making their way to the surface, trying to formulate their own plan.

"We need to stop and get Zee first."

"I know the basics. But I can just cheat. I can use the Force to help me aim. I can try to teach you a bit at the very least. Probably best to find another teacher."

Iko wasn't exactly a great teacher himself. He didn't have the patience for it. Patience had never been something he was good with, and it just seemed to get worse the older he was getting. Though he turned his attention over towards Persephone when she asked where they were going.

"I meant to get out of here first. The dig site is going to be one of the first places they go to. "

And he was itching for a fight. So the sooner they got away, the safer they'd both be. Though...Yeah. They had to get Zee. The stupid droid. Iko didn't normally care much for droids but he was frustrated. He wanted to get out of here as soon as they could but it looks like they had something else to do on their to-do list. Get a droid and then leave.
