Private Noble Intentions

"...right." It slowly came to her the realization of her future. This would be an endeavor. But...

"I could set up a repuslor-lift tram. Something that would lead all the way down, but would still leave the cliffside untouched. Keep it in memory, and allow those wishing to make the climb able to."

"I would happily offer you both a tour of the larger temple if you would like to comfirm the safety of the interior."

"I'll leave that up to you. My only responsibility is that Jedi who visit will be able to reach the Temple safely. How they get there... that's up to you." She wasn't going to micro-manage Jonyna and her plans for the Temple. But she would enforce the same standards that other Temples were held to.

Safety for the Jedi who stayed there was top priority.

Valery then turned to the Cathar Master and nodded, "I'd love a proper tour. Not just to inspect the Temple, but to familiarize myself with more of it."

"Then let us begin." The master nodded. "This of course is the Tree of Life. The source of our ability to persist. This chamber allows us to rejuvenate our ability within the Force. The tree can also heal those wounded in the Force, if need be. Would you like to go to the archives next, or see the dojo?"

"Perhaps this room could be used for meditation?" Valery looked at Jonyna to get her thoughts on the matter, but it seemed logical. The spirits would obviously continue to regain their livelihoods here, but many others could make use of the serenity of this Tree of Life.

But that was something for Jonyna to judge.

"I'd like to see the archives. A dear friend of mine might be interested in a mutual transfer of knowledge between this Temple and others. Perhaps it has information that we do not yet have elsewhere." Valery thought of Efret Farr Efret Farr for a moment and smiled to herself.

She was certain her friend would be fascinated by this Temple.

"Of course." The master nodded, leading them out of the chamber, back into the crystal room. "Of course, as you saw, this is our room of crystals. It acts as both a defense against the darkside for the temple due to the crystal's properties, and a place for padawans to find easy access to their first crystals. We used to encourage those of Cathar to eventually find a crystal of their own, but starting with the Tiger's Fang allowed those to study the lightsaber without having to venture into the jungle when Ilum wasn't an option."

Back into the hall, and into a massive open archive room. But, it wasn't the digital room Val was accustomed to. It was...

A library. With books.

"This is our archive. It might be a bit...archaic, but it allows us to honor nature as the people of Cathar prefer. Knowledge stored not in files, but on pages."

"Interesting," Valery said while she looked at the crystals around her, "This Temple is quite self-sufficient when necessary." A strength during hard times, but something to be mindful of as well. She wasn't going to allow Jedi to acquire a crystal here without a proper Gathering when Ilum, Ossus and other crystal caves were available.

That journey was important for young Jedi. It was often a first confrontation with their fears.

The group of Jedi then reached the archives, and Valery's smile grew wider. Actual books, rather than digital files. It would make knowledge transfer a little harder, but any true historian would love the chance to go through the material available here. Who knows what they had knowledge on?

"For the sake of sharing knowledge, would it be okay if we digitized what you have here? That way, nothing will ever be lost, and we'll be able to share it with other Temples more easily. I'd rather not move these books around."

Um9wLtZ.png

"Of course, Master Noble. We only ask you keep the original copies here. Many of these are first editions, acquired through trade with planets from across the galaxy. Everything from historical records, to books written by our own order on techniques of the Force long forgotten. I believe there is one you might find interesting even."

She held out a hand, and a book from deep within the shelves floated to them. It had a marking of the jedi order of old, and the cover in aurebesh read 'Shii-Cho, A Comprehensive Guide to the Blade of the Jedi'.

"This one is from an era where we hadn't yet invented the other forms."
The woman smiled, offering it to Valery.

Valery nodded, "I'd like to make copies for that reason. It'll allow us to move digital files to other Temples, and the books can remain here, under your care." One of these books — one that cathar Master knew would interest Valery — was summoned from the shelves. Valery accepted the book, then looked down at its cover.

A guide to Shii-Cho from all those years ago?

"From the time of protosabers, and before the Sith were formed," Valery said with a chuckle. "This is quite remarkable. I'd love to read it sometime."

Um9wLtZ.png

"Many of the tomes here are from that era. The Cathar temple was kept mostly secret for that reason. This library acted as a repository for knowledge the jedi wanted nothing more than to keep out of the hands of whom might use it against us. I do hope your new order can take this knowledge and use it in meaningful ways." The old ghost nodded. "Shall we continue then? I would like to show you the dojo next. We have a few old protosabers still if you would like to inspect them."

"I'd love to inspect a protosaber. Are they still functional?" Valery asked as they began to walk. But something from their earlier conversation was still on her mind. So, rather than move on entirely, she decided to speak up, "You mentioned that a lot of these tomes are meant to be kept out of the enemy's hands."

She paused, hoping the Cathar understood where she was going.

"What if the enemy finds this Temple? They're at your borders, so is there a plan to protect what you have here?"

Um9wLtZ.png

"They are. Our droids are very meticulous during their inspections of all the technology within the temple."

She paused, Jonyna looking to Val with a frown at the thought. The Master's tone went from excited to collected in an instant.

"Cathar has been under Imperial rule before. Whenever this happens, we spirits cast a cloud over the mountain. To the Imperials, it's an impassable hurricane thought to be created naturally by the massive peak. A weather system that no man would dare fly through. It shrouds the temple, as much as it does cut us off from the rest of the galaxy."

"I see," Valery commented with a slight frown when the Temple's defense mechanism was explained. With how self-sustaining it was, being locked to the Temple meant survival. But... just that. There was no way out, so no easy way to join the fight against a potential occupier. Perhaps not even a way to communicate at all to the outside world — massive storms were often the cause of impenetrable interference.

But she hoped it'd never have to come to that.

"I suggest that Jonyna considers some additional options for defense. The cloud system is fine for extreme situations, but perhaps there's more we can do to prevent it ever being necessary."

Um9wLtZ.png

"Perhaps." The master noted. "We've never really had a need before now."

"I could set up some droids." Jonyna offered. "...or some Si Tech turrets if we're really desperate. But ya know, would kinda clash with the aesthetic. Maybe we can have Kahlil teach me how to make this golems I see around the temple on Coruscant?"

The three were led back through the lobby, which seemed rather quiet now. Val could see clouds rolling in, as it started to rain.

"Golems wouldn't be a bad idea. Kahlil has been teaching Vera how to make them on Ossus. Maybe ask them both sometime." Perhaps it was her motherly love for Vera speaking here, but she just couldn't help herself. Vera loved being able to help and she had the skills and knowledge now to build Golems. Why not offer her daughter for this?

A good chance for Jonyna to perhaps impart some wisdom on the young Noble, too.

"We can also install some equipment to detect approaching vessels and communicate it to emergency channels. The Alliance has quick response task forces that could always make it here if they really need to."

Um9wLtZ.png

"Think the Senators would like that? Helping some no name planet in Mando space?" There was a bit of indignance to that sentence, a clear frustration with the recent senate behavior. "I'd be happy to have Vera though. I'm sure the spirits would be happy to see a new padawan going around the temple."

"Of course." The master smiled, as they walked towards a large open door. Inside, Val could see them. On the wall, Proto-sabers that were still linked to a small power pack that one could link to their belt, mounted on the wall alongside regular sabers, though they looked ancient. The base of the sabers were much bigger than your average saber, as if it was a strange in-between between Protsabers and modern lightsabers.

"It might be hard to convince the Senate, but Vera would love to help. I... would appreciate it, too," she admitted, not as a Master offering advice, but as a Mother worried about her child. "It has been a difficult time for her lately. A project to focus on might be good for her." She wasn't going to pressure Jonyna, but since the cathar had offered the idea of Golems herself, Valery figured it didn't hurt to nudge her own daughter forward a little.

It'd be good for her and for this Temple.

The three then headed inside the next chamber and Valery finally saw them — the protosabers. They looked as antique as she expected, but the less professional side of her still wanted to grab one and ignite it.

Perhaps one day.

"These are amazing. Does the Temple have other artifacts?"

Um9wLtZ.png

"We do." The master gestured over to the other wall, Valery seeing a rack of what looked to be katanas. "We were one of the last jedi temples to train in Force Imbued Blades. There's a few tomes in the library on the subject. Our forge is unique in that it was made to make them specifically, before we transitioned over to protosabers."

"I'd be happy to have Vera." Jonyna smiled. "We'll need all the help we can get. Maybe you could have Vera and Kahlil come over and work together on it? Make it a daddy daughter assignment?"

Valery chuckled at Jonyna, "Perhaps, but I think it might be good for her to take on a project alone. If she needs help, she can always contact her father." It was a good way for her to build up some confidence in her skills. If she handled something on her own, she'd know that her success didn't just rely on the input of others.

She'd be able to take what she learned and apply it herself.

Valery then turned back to the Cathar spirit and perked a brow, "I'd love to study some of the artifacts here sometime. For now, is there anything else you'd like to show us?"
