Not Just the Physical, but the Spiritual

After their mission to tattooine Sochi sent a message to her Padawan telling her to meet her at the Academy on Tython. Ru had some training for the young girl, something that would put stress on her body no doubt, but in the end benefit her greatly. Sochi hadn't talked about it much or even taught it much, but she was a follower of the Matukai Philosophy. The balance of the physical and spiritual was its cornerstone. They would be conditioning the body to become more flexible and agile. Sochi herself hadn't worn her usual long layers of robes. That wouldn't help much, she was clad in cream backless top with a deep V-front (that shows her both bare back and shoulders) and brown straps around her midriff that seem to accentuate her chest and bellybutton. She has a light brown loincloth and homemade bikini bottom. She also sports a bit of gray cloth wrapped around her feet (that shows both her bare toes and heels) and most of it around both leg calves (that shows her right knee) and left forearm (with a couple silver spikes on it). Brown straps she's tied around her lekku and montrals.

She awaited in meditation in a training room that opened up into a massive grove, that had in the center a large open space, and surrounding that the forest of Tython. Sochi sat near the center of the open space. She was using floating meditation as a way to pass the time. Her lightsaber hilt orbiting her as if she was a planet. Her back was straight, and her hands were on her knees, as she sat in a crossed position.

Shortly after returning from the mission, Master Ru contacted her new student and told her the two will meet at the Jedi Academy on the ancient Jedi world of Tython. For more training to make the young Padawan stronger, no doubt. Setting a foot into the Jedi Academy, Ane'irna stopped before continuing. She wanted to try something and practice her Force sense. Instead of going to the meeting place, the teenage girl reached out through the Force and dozens of Force presences around in an attempt to find her Master's signature. She had felt her calm and serene presence several times, now it was time to distinguish her presence from the other Jedi around. As her senses extended further and futher, touching many presences in the Jedi Academy, the girl still did not feel Master Ru. Thinking the Togruta must have been out of reach, the Twi'lek continued her walk through the hallway, her leather boots tapping on the floor until she stopped, trying to feel Sochi again. This time, she went through her surroundings more carefully, slowly extending her reach until she felt something that must have been her Master. Remembering where they were supposed to meet, the location truly was the one where the two would meet, making Ane'irna smile at her success.

Finally arriving at her destination, the girl has been left speechless at the amazing sight happening in front of her. Not only she stood in one of the most breathtaking training room she had ever seen, the sight of Master Ru floating above the ground with her lightsaber flying around made the girl silently stare at the scene for a few seconds before taking off her brown cloak and setting it down. Seeing Master Ru's apparel, Ane'irna's beige tunic and brown boots might be a bit limiting for the girl, but first she'd see what the Jedi Knight prepared for her. Walking over to her Master, Ane'irna bowed to the older Jedi. "Greetings, Master Ru. What are we going to do today?"

Opening her eyes, when she felt the presence of her Padawan, she ended her meditation and landed on the ground. She simultaneously turned around when Ane'irna approached her. A smirk made itself at home upon her face. Sochi bowed to her Padawan in return and began to speak to the younger Jedi. "Well Padawan, today we'll be doing some physical exercise that's good conditioning for you, and also will help you strengthen your connection to the force." She explained. Sochi noticed the apparel of her pupil, while not the best for such exercise, it will have to do. In fact, it was Ru's fault for not stating clearly what today's task would be and what to expect. For that she was sorry.

"Come, join me, lets us start with some meditation and stretching." She said softly motioning over towards the center of the grove. Sochi slowly began to walk towards their destination, once she felt they were far enough she sat down, in a meditative position. Her eyes were closed for a second, and then she slowly raised her head, and her black eyes peered upon the girl. "Your very agile Ane'irna. This is one of your greatest strengths. Today we'll be training your flexibility. A weakness in your form is fighting agaiasnt those who are far stronger than you, who rely on brute strength. If your wit doesn't get to them, than your agility will allow you to out maneuver them." She said softly.

Sochi took a moment for her words to sink in, even though they've already came to that conclusion before. Sochi picked this place specifically for them. Nice, and open. It was very spacious, and the surrounding flora added a sense of calmness. She looked back to her pupil, "Now tell me, are you familiar with the Matukai?" She asked.

Listening to her Master, absorbing all words the Togruta spoke, the young Padawan respectfully nodded when Sochi explained the purpose of today’s exercise. The idea of a physical exercise to keep her fit and also strengthen her connection to the Force intrigued the young Twi’lek. Before following the Jedi Knight and joining her in meditation, Ane’irna wanted to be a bit less restricted if she were to do some extensive stretching and possibly acrobatics later, so she took off her heavy leather boots. She learned from a Togruta, after all, a race known for not wearing footwear because of their spiritual connection to the land or something in that sense. While not a Togruta herself, Ane’irna often wanted to get to know other species better by experiencing their way of life, thus she definitely wanted to learn more about the Togruta traditions since a Togruta became her Master, so this was a start at least.

Setting the boots by her cloak and walking barefoot, a bit uncomfortable at first, she walked over to Master Ru in the center of the grove where the ground felt pleasantly cool to the soles of her feet. The Togruta sat down and once again, praised the girl’s agility, expressing its importance in combat against physically stronger opponents. The Twi’lek’s blue eyes looked right into the black eyes of her Master and she nodded, also understanding she had to use her great agility to her advantage to outmaneuver her combatants. As long as she managed to dodge the most powerful and often very slow strikes, she should be able to eventually tire her opponents without breaking a sweat. "I agree, Master Ru. If my agility is superior to the one of my opponent, my lack of physical strength won't matter much."

Matukai? Trying to come up with something to answer Master Ru’s question, the girl thought for a bit, hoping to remember something relevant to the word, but it appeared her mind was void of such knowledge. “No, Master Ru. I am not familiar with it. It has something to do with today’s training though, I suppose.” The teenager said as she shook her head. Indeed, the Togruta Jedi wouldn’t ask her a completely random question with no relevance to the lesson whatsoever. This piqued the girl’s curiosity, making her eager to hear the Jedi Knight’s wise words and learn from them.

Sochi smiled to see that her Padawan had taken to removing her shoes, it would seem she'd taken interest in the culture of her people, soon Sochi would be taking her to Shili, where she will be training in isolation for a time. Then she could experience their society, and culture. Possibly even participating in the Togrutan Rites of Passage. Only time would tell if she was truly ready. Hopefully she could convince her people to allow and outsider to partake, but that wasn't the objective of today.

"The Matukai were an organization of Force adepts who used the physical body to channel the Force. They were established in the days of the Galactic Republic, years before the Old Sith Wars. Matukai experienced persecution by the Empire during the Great Jedi Purge. They were one of the first other organizations besides the Jedi to feel the Emperor's wrath, but a few of their number managed to survive and pass on their knowledge. However, the arrival of the Yuuzhan Vong invaders brought the Matukai into the conflict and several of them fell in the ensuing war" she said softly. She was just providing some background information about the order of adepts.

"Now, the Matukai philosophy was centered around creating a balance and harmony between the spiritual Force and the physical body, using exercise as a form of meditation. Using their bodies as a focus, they emphasized keeping oneself clean and strong, purifying oneself through physical activity, and avoiding the dark side. emphasized a flexibility of spirit that avoided becoming flustered or upset in order to maintain a stress-free and relaxed state. The purpose of these teachings was to allow the body to focus the Force with greater efficiency. Today you'll go through a series of exercises that will require you to push the limits of your physical stamina, while using the force to gain strength" she said finishing her long explanations,

@[member="Ane'irna"]

Quickly taking the Knight's words, the Padawan carefully processed all the information in her head. Finally she knew why Master Ru asked her about Matukai, understanding the purpose of this lesson now. As many organizations based around the Force suffered at the hands of Darth Sidious' Empire, it did not come off as a surprise that knowledge from another order eventually found its way to the Jedi. The philosophy of the body and the Force being in harmony sounded interesting and new, definitely something Ane'irna wanted to have some knowledge of. After the training, she'd venture to the library and took a detailed look at the history of the Matukai, interested in seeing how they had managed to survive the purge where Palpatine saw every trained Force sensitive as a threat, even his own subjects, as evidenced by many Dark Side Adepts and ultimately, Darth Vader himself. It was in the nature of the Sith not to trust even their closest allies and friends.

Exercise as a form of meditation had not crossed the teenager's mind, but now that she thought about it, she liked the idea. Doing several useful things at the same time, that always came in handy. It also sounded as an effective way to get rid of aggression some Force sensitives had in their hearts, again, very useful. The Jedi preferred to separate meditations from other activities, saying it'd be too distracting, yet here Master Ru talked about it as if it was easy. Ane'irna felt happy about having a chance to learn this way of balancing her body and her mind, putting the two in balance. Both mind and body would be tested today, putting the girl’s abilities to a test and also helping her get better, stronger. The teenage Padawan knew it was not easy to tire a Jedi, as they all went through rigid physical training that made their stamina seem unlimited. The exercised would most likely involve plenty of jumping from the ground to the trees and back, as Jedi had to mass the Force in their legs to perform such a feat, depleting much stamina. The girl stretched her legs, arms and body before continuing. She did not want to have a muscle spasm while jumping in a great height. When done, she looked back at her Master. “I am ready, Master Ru.”

Sochi nodded, she would first teach her Padawan a variant of meditation; one of Sochi's favorite past times. It would only make since to start here since they were already sitting upon the ground. This variant was called Meditation of Emptiness. "Alright let us begin with some meditation. This variant is called Meditation of Emptiness, it is used as a means to center oneself and find deep inner peace and purge negative emotions. It will allow you to establish an emotional anchor. This technique is useful in times of war, or events that could leave one scarred, mentally." She said softly. "Take a moment Padawan, clear your mind, and purge the negative." She said before straightening her back and tilting her head up just slightly. Her eyes were closed and she began to meditate. The concept of this technique was quite easy to grasp.

Once her Padawan was certain that she had the concept, and had centered herself, she would proceed with the lesson. "Purge Padawan, purge. Center yourself." She said calmly.

Since the first exercise would be a meditation, Ane’irna sat down, legs in cross-legged position, putting her hands on her knees. This position was well known to the teenager, she liked to peacefully meditate for long hours in her room or anywhere, really. Letting the Force in her body and mind, reviewing her past actions and strengthening her connection to the Light Side, such were the meditations she had experienced in the past. This one would be simply another step towards learning how to use the meditation in more ways than those she already knew.

Deeply inhaling and exhaling, the girl closed her blue eyes and felt perfectly calm and safe, feeling her Master’s presence. She also became more perceptive of her surroundings, able to feel so many little lifeforms she had not noticed before, everything filled with peace and calmness. All of the negative emotions disappeared in a while, leaving only peace and allowing her to think without being influenced by any emotions, a very useful thing. It felt good, making her smile. “I believe I have achieved it, Master Ru,” muttered the girl, still meditating. Once she opened her eyes, she felt renewed, slightly changed. Although Ane'irna was a gentle soul, never giving into hate or anger, she still felt emotions like any other being, positive and negative. Her outlook on the whole galaxy suddenly seemed different, giving the girl hope everything would be alright soon.

Nodding, Sochi stood up slowly. Her apprentice was coming along rather well. Now they would begin some more physical exercises. Ru began to praise her Padawan, "Excellent Ane'irna, now this next exercise is still a form of meditation but evolves more of your body. Usually I don't teach this to students, but your a special case. This is called Arch Pose. This will get you all stretched out, and loosened up." She said before walked acouple of steps away for space. As she went through the details of the exercise she also demonstrated them, "First you want to planet you hands and feet firmly on the ground," she said before bending over and nearing the ground. She placed her hands in the positions, along with her feet. "Next you want to arch your body into a round shape, as far as you can go," she said while moving her feet closer to her hands, inching them slightly. Her superior flexibility was showing now, she had her feet parallel with her hands, between them. "Then you want to hold Padawan, breathe, inhale and exhale. It might be painful in the beginning, but this is a good starting point for you to begin training your flexibility." She said before getting quiet and holding the form for a while. "After maybe 2 minutes you can release." She said following up her previous statement.

Rising up from the meditative position, the Twi'lek followed Master Ru's example to perform this so called Arch pose. First, she made sure no objects that would get in the way lied in the immediate area before copying the moves of her new teacher. Placing her hands on the ground, firmly enough to be in a stable position and not fall, the teenager then slowly started arching her body into a rounded shape. Trying to push her buttocks as high as they could go, the position became uncomfortable soon. Still, the Padawan pushed further, knowing she had to go past her limits to get better. Her muscles flexed and she was glad for stretching out her body earlier. Several sighsescaped her green lips, but she pushed further, trying harder as far as she could go. Once she felt pushing further would most likely resulted in her falling, Ane'irna remained in the position. To overcome the pain and discomfort, she attempted to do what she had done a while ago; meditating. Inhaling and exhaling, the green skinned Twi'lek wanted to bring herself back to the state of meditation, her mind almost disconnecting from the body. Her eyes shut and soon she felt the pain disappearing, slowly but surely. The exercise became much easier like this, although it might have defeated the point a bit, since there was no pain once her mind shut it off. On the other hand, pain was good only for the Sith, they gained power from it, unlike the Jedi, so it shouldn't be much of a deal if Ane'irna solved this exercise in this particular way.

Sochi slowly came up, straightening out her body. She stood patiently, watching her Padawan grasp the concept rather quickly. It was good to see that she was pushing herself past her limits. She had a powerful will. Smiling once she heard Ane'irna breathing in an out. "That's perfect Padawan. Your really coming along." Ru said praising the young girl. "Now, I know you felt the stretch, and you'll feel much better when your completely out of that position. You'll be more loose." She said before walking away slowly, she stopped at the edge of the open space. All that lied before her was the forest of Tython. She awaited her Padawan to finish before telling the next task.

When Ane'irna approached she began speaking. "Now the real exercises come in. Your familiar with the Art of Movement, this is just like it. This forested area is filled with branches, vines, mud, streams the works. You'll have to run through all of that at your top speed. Use the force to replenish yourself when you begin to tire. I will await you on the other side. There will be another task when you emerge from the forest. May the force be with you Padawan."

This was a more natural version of Art of movement. Usually that takes place in a controlled environment within the temple. This was the real outside world.

Ane'irna continued breathing in and out in her position, remaining in this state while she silently counted the seconds until finally reaching the desired 2 minutes. Once done, she let out one final breath and allowed her body to relax, loosening herself and slowly standing up, letting her muscles rest before the final test. It felt surprisingly good, but it was too early to allow herself to get comfortable. Master Ru explained what awaited her now, and the young Twi'lek found herself eager to complete the challenge. Running through the forest as fast as she could, using the Force to be even faster and more aware of her surroudings. The environment could be often used to help too, as much as it could slow her down had she hesitated too much or chose the wrong way. A perfect cooperation between her body, mind, and the Force was requires to score a good result. Nodding at her Master and mentally preparing herself, Ane'irna gathered the Force in herself, enhancing her reflexes and body.

Then, the young girl launched herself into the forest, sprinting between the trees and jumping over any obstacles in her way, not even slowing down. It wasn't until she reached a marshy area of the forest, one that used to be a river and now turned into a murky swamp, that Ane'irna slowed down to think of her next action. Massing the Force in her legs, the teenage Padawan jumped towards the nearest tree and landed on a strong branch, immediately launching onto another and propelling herself into the distance, gaining speed thanks to the gravity that pulled her down. The teenager had no fear of hurting herself upon the landing, as the area she aimed for was still fairly soupy, though not nearly as deep as the one she left behing. Muck and swamp water splashed as she landed and continued her run, bare feet sticking into the mud and Force knows what. Several footprints later, she shook off the worst of the black mud covering her feet and caught her breath, using the Force to draw a bit of energy from her surroundings.

Even after several dozens of meters, the air remaines humid, indicating she was getting closer to another place with water. Ane'irna focused on her way, looking into the distance and plannnig her moves while jumping over rocks and roots that posed the danger of making her stumble. Her efforts were rewarded soon though, presenting her with a small stream running through the ground. Choosing to run through it, the cool water washed the mud from her feet and its cool touch refreshed her. It was not until long that the trees started disappearing, indicating the end of the forest. A few last meters and she was out, breathing heavily and stopping.

Awaiting the arrival of her Padawan, she heard rustling, and the native birds flying from the trees. Expanding her senses she could tell her pupil was making her way towards her. Sochi was indeed, waiting in a grassy plain, though the grass didn't come past her ankles. She was indeed the final exercise. This particular exercise would span three different sessions. All training the girls flexibility, reflexes, and agility. Awaiting in the center, with her saber in her right hand, posted up on her hip. Her free hand hanging at her side.

Then she emerged from the flora of Tython, clearly tired, and breathing heavily. This was good that she was becoming fatigued. "Good, Padawan. Your tired yes? This is good. Come, you have more training to get to." She said motioning for the girl. Giving her as much time as she needed to regroup and approach, Sochi would then speak of her next session.

"Ane'irna you've been doing good so far. I'm proud. Now your next test will be you performing sequences. These are series of attacks. They are commonly used in practice to develop fast reflexes. Keep in mind that the fluid succession of attacks are far more useful than individualized moves. I will be posing as your target. Remember to keep your moves fluid, and in succession of one another." She said softly before taking her place, and assuming the Soresu opening stance. "Remember to increase the speed with every strike you attempt to make, this will make it second nature to you." She added with her cerulean lightsaber ignited.

Her Master already waited for her, bringing up a question how did she get there so quickly? The Jedi Knight must have known of a shortcut, or possibly a more effective way to run through the forest. And maybe more explanations, but Ane’irna really did not care right now; her body demanded a short break. Briefly glancing at Sochi’s lightsaber in her right hand, the Twi’lek guessed the next test would be to overcome the exhaustion and fight. Well, that surely was a part of the test, but the Togruta Jedi Knight wanted to test her Padawan’s ability to perform sequences of attacks, seamlessly connecting several slashes and jabs into one combo. Sounded easy enough, the green skinned Padawan believed she could do that.

After taking a moment to allow her body to recuperate from the run, Ane’irna closed her distance to Master Ru, dragging her feet through the grass. Taking her lightsaber off the belt, lowering its power and igniting its yellow plasma blade, the girl held it pointed towards the ground and quickly paced towards her Master. The first attack was nothing more than an upwards swing as the girl fully extended her right arm and went for a slow light cut aimed at Sochi’s left leg. Ane’irna expected it to be blocked, and that was also exactly what she wanted, as in the moment her and Master Ru’s blades met, the green Twi’lek retracted her arm for a bit, only to thrust it forward a moment later, this time purposely going for the Togruta’s left shoulder, her stab not meant to be deep and fatal, but to once again draw her Master’s blade there to deflect the attack or dodge it.

Either case, the Twi’lek continued in the movement and gently flicked her wrist to the left, going in the direction of Master Sochi’s neck. If the Togruta dodged the previous attack aimed at her shoulder, this attack had a good chance of catching her. If she blocked it, Ane’irna would use Sochi’s blade to slide her own plasma beam on it and get the tip of her weapon to Master Ru’s hilt and her hands, a nice move for disarming an opponent.

See her Padawan preparing to come in for an attack, Sochi tightened her grip around her lightsaber hilt. Ane'irna's first attach was a slow, light cut towards Ru's left leg, Sochi noticing the attack, twisted her wrist, so that her lightsaber pointed towards the ground, blocking the girls attack, their sabers clashed for a moment. Seeing that she was coming for another attack, Sochi quickly twisted her wrist once more to bringer blade to a horizontal position, just above her shoulder catching her pupils second attack. Sparks flew as her apprentice's blade slid across her own. She quickly bent her body sideways to her right, demonstrating her flexibility, and reflexes. She went right underneath the girls blade. Quickly standing up, she did a back flip putting some space between them. She wanted her Padawan to come after her.

"Engage me again Padawan, more speed." She said standing straight up from her acrobatic feat. She assumed the Soresu stance once more.

@[member="Ane'irna"]

Quickly closing the distance with two steps towards Master Ru, Ane'irna decided to let the Force make her moves faster. This drained even more energy from her body, more than she had replenished a moment ago. Once the effects of Force speed disappeared, she would not be able to use it again for a while. Taking short breaths, beads of sweat running down her forehead, tge Twi'lek launcher herself at Sochi for another attack. Her yellow lightsaber hummed as she swung through the air, her lightning fast cut aimes at her Master's right thigh. It did not end there, she quickly retracted her lightsaber and sent a series of jabs towards her Master's left side, each attack a bit faster than the previous one to stop Sochi from making any attempt at striking back. Sidestepping to the left and circling her opponent, moving her stabs to Sochi's right side. If the Jedi Knight blocked one of her jabs, Ane'irna would attempt to slide her her yellow blade on Sochi's blue plasma beam and continue in her stab. Luckily for the young girl, Makashi allowed her to preserve her stamina. Other lightsaber forms focused on exhausting, heavy slashes too much, so she could keep fighting for a while longer without her moves becoming too slow to have any chance of hitting her Master.

Suddenly propelling herself back a few meters, she landed and immediately launched herself forward again, bare toes digging into the ground as she did so, the Padawan wanted to gain more momentum and strength to put into her attack. This stab was strong and more powerful than the previous ones. The girl also grasped the hilt with her left hand.

@[member="Sochi Ru"]

Holding true to her Soresu stance, Sochi tightened her grip when her Padawan approached with great speed. Ru could tell the girl was tired, this was good she needed to push herself, and allow the force to strengthen herself. Her attacks were quick, and precise, typical of a Makashi user. Sochi flicked her wrist, twisting her blade in her hand, and block the attack aimed at her thigh. Seeing that she retracted her blade Sochi brought her blade up to prepare for what was next. A series of jabs came, and Sochi batted them away although barely, she was improving. Though Sochi wasn't using all she knew involving Soresu. Then she followed the the young girls movements as she jumped to Sochi's right side. Sochi disengaged, and performed and force aided acrobatic flip backwards. When she landed she noticed her Padawan propelling herself at the knight. She was coming in for an attack. It looked good from where Ru was watching. The flip of the girls hand threw Sochi off, and she wasn't prepared to block the attack from that angel seeing as how she was expecting the right hand. Ru wasn't sure if it was strategy, but it work. Having flipped her saber into a reverse grip in her right hand, Sochi wasn't quick enough to react and instead moved to the side slightly, so the blade skid up against her side. She gripped her side, and took a couple of steps back.

"Congradulations Padawan. You have made me proud. You getting the hang of it, now lets move on to the next session. This time I will employ Form V with powerful attacks, and I want you to defend and evade them." She said softly, and sternly.

@[member="Ane'irna"]

Seeing she scored a good hit, Ane'irna smiled, unable not to feel a bit proud when she thought the exhaustion had gotten to her. Retracting her lightsaber and leaving it in her less tired hand, she offered Sochi a small bow and took a few steps back to indicate her attack had truly ended. The Twi'lek would remember her move for her future duels, as it looked like a good tactic to confuse one's opponent and deal an unexpected blow. Obviously, she couldn't use it against Master Ru anymore, as performing the same trick for a second time would not be a clever move. Master Ru would simply expect it from now on and thus could turn it to her advantage. Now, Ane'irna had to prepare for another exercise, reminiscent of the one they have had in the Temple before the mission. Form II against the fifth form, which one will prevail this time? With her stamina rapidly decreasing after using the Force to speed up her moves and reflexes, the teenager had a pretty accurate guess, though that would not stop her from doing her best.

Taking a moment to breathe in and out in long, deep breaths, she called upon the Force to replenish a bit of her energy and allow her to keep fighting a while longer. By doing so, Ane'irna had used the last bit of Force energy in her body and now had to wait for it to slowly return. "I am ready, Master," nodded the young girl, not feeling so exhausted now. Her lightsaber remained pointing down at the blades of grass next to her, the plasma blade vaporizing tips of several plants.

@[member="Sochi Ru"]

"Only defend, and evade Padawan." She added once more to apply emphasis to that. Ane'irna would have to employ her reflexes in this next confrontation. This is what it was all about. Sochi held out her lightsaber in the Djem So opening stance. What one couldn't see was that she was imbuing her weapon with the force. Her attack would increase in strength, and the momentum behind her swings would also see an increase. Holding up her saber, and waiting for a brief moment, she quickly went for the strikes. First, she came down vertically with her blade, aimed straight for her pupils upper body, the second would prove to be a diagonal cut from her left side, and the third was a powerful jab if her blade, her hands were situated on the hilt as she performed the task. She hoped for a Padawan to be able to evade, and defend. These attacks although not at their most powerful, were unlike anything Ane'irna might've faced. Ru felt her apprentice needed to become use to combating opponents like this.

@[member="Ane'irna"]

The first vertical attack could be easily avoided, so Ane'irna dashed to the right and completely avoided Master Ru's cut. The seering plasma blade hummed to her left through nothing but air, missing the girl entirely, though the Togruta Knight almost immediately turned her strike into a diagonal slash going for Ane'irna's stomach. Quickly raising her blade, the Twi'lek parried the slash diagonally, letting Sochi's blue blade slide in a slightly different direction, thus buying herself time to jog back and get from Master Ru's reach. Upon retracting her lightsaber from the lock, Ane'irna noticed the blade was not entirely touching Sochi's blue plasma beam. She must have used the Force on her lightsaber, either creating a telekinetic barrier around it or using one of the Force powers that allowed Force users to imbue the Force into their weapons. If that was the case, it must have drained the Jedi Knight's energy quite significantly, constantly pouring the Force into her lightsaber. Ane'irna knew her Master would not be able to keep it up for long without being left completely devoid of all energy and stamina. That would even out Ane'irna's disadvantage of having no Force energy left in her body, as the young Padawan's Force reserves regenerated slowly.

The jab came, following Ane'irna's left side without giving her time to rest. Luckily, stabs at one side of a body could be easily solved by dodging them to the side, so the teenage Padawan sidestepped to the right again, circling around Master Ru while taking two steps back for every step to the right to keep her distance, allowing her to have more time to dodge more attacks. Her blade once again pointed to the grassy ground, ready to be swung upwards and parry an incoming strike.
