“That sounds great.” Colette said and eagerly nodded her head at Lily. “Maybe with time it doesn’t even have to be so close to the temple.”

Though, that still felt like a ways to go. Even now as Colette stared at the mountain in the distance she couldn’t help but feel sad for it. She wondered what it was like to once have been surrounded by her equals before they got swallowed up by something so much larger. Was Coruscant a solution for life or a parasite on something that could have been beautiful without it?

“You know,” Colette started as she looked back over at Lily again. “That mountain feels a bit like an animal in one of those… Things. What where they called, again?”

Colette closed her eyes to think on the word.

“A circus— no! A zoo.” Colette frowned as she looked back at it. “Once a tall, proud being. Now, it’s little more than a curious piece of ‘the past.’”

“Sorry, I grew up with a lot of respect for these things and to see it stuck like this feels… Weird? Wrong?”

“I wish there was more life on Coruscant. Wildlife. An eco system that wasn’t figurative.”

Lily nodded her head, going further out and exploring more of the city seemed like an exciting and scary idea.

Having settled down and already trying some food, the kebab was curious. The grease oil seemed to have been soaked by the bread that made the bread much softer. It wasn't the most pleasant thing to eat but it was surprisingly better than he had assumed it would be when she first saw it. Her mouth was full of food when she realised that Colette was looking at her and talking about something.

She swallowed the mouthful of food as quickly as she could then looked at Colette to ensure that she didn't come across rude or not paying attention. "Well, mountains aren't really stuck are they? As far as I know, mountains tend to be stationary. However, Coruscant has been like this for thousands of years as far as I know, home to so many people. To introduce wildlife, an ecosystem, you would have to depose those people of a home, of a way of life that they have gotten use to." Lily wasn't too sure it would be fair to ruin the lives now for an ecosystem that hasn't existed for decades.

"I don't really know what to do about it, Eshan was a mix of cities with large areas of wildlife and a healthy ecosystem, so this is the first time being on a planet that is considered a city world." She continued to eat her kebab, attempting to avoid getting her fingers greasy as she took delicate bites.

"How are you finding the food?" Lily asked curious what was Colette's take.

Unlike Lily, Colette truly did not care to avoid the grease. While she struggled with finding a good angle of attack on it, she figured there was a point in eating it from the opening at the top and going downwards. Her entire body seemed to lean forward to take a bite out of the thing, jaw practically separating in order to fit it as she chomped down. One of her fingers accidentally pierced through the bread, and with it the combined grease and sauce at the bottom quickly began to leak.

Colette made note of it with a frustrated sigh before she shook her head and turned back towards the mountain and then Lily.

“It’s good. I like it.” She said and put on a weak smile. “A bit greasy, and I’ll have to do some laundry, but… Good. It’s good.”

Her eyes wandered back to the mountain again and the smile faded.

“I think I’ll just have to look forward to when Master Noble takes me off-world for assignments.” She said and looked back at her friend. “What about you?”

“Have you been assigned a master yet?”

"Laundry?" Lily asked confused, was Colette eating so messily that it was getting on her clothes?

Finishing her kebab, "I do feel if that was a regular meal, one would have to be training daily, possibly multiple times a day. Definitely not the food I prefer but it was a pleasant change from what I do eat usually." Lily could not deny the experimentation had been enjoyable.

The smile faded from Colette's lips when talking about the mountain. "Well, I am sure that will happen at some point. Jedi are meant to travel and help those beyond the temple. I have been doing a lot of reading on it. Very interesting." Lily admitted.

"Oh, my master is Jedi Knight Briana Sal-Soren. She is very interesting. I met Master Noble as well, apparently my master was her Padawan once, isn't that interesting?" Lily asked with some excitement as she attempted to understand the Jedi ways. "How has your training been?" Curious to see the differences between Masters.

Well yes, the kebab proved to be a hard beast to tame as it squirmed around in Colette’s hands with each new bite she tried to take. Once it was gone she wiped the grease from the corner of her mouth with the back of her hand before she slowly nodded in agreement with what Lily was saying.

“Greasy, but not unenjoyable.” She added to the review and let on a content grin. “Sal-Soren…” Colette mumbled in thought. “I think I’ve heard of them.”

“My training has been good!” She beamed. “Master Noble is very knowledgeable, and she seems to understand how to set up a good enough plan to let me have some time to decide for myself what to do.”

“Usually my own plans leaves me in bed early, but well…” She exhaled a small laugh before she grabbed the spoon for the curry. “We owe it to the rest of the people who can’t touch the force like us to make the most of our force sensitivity.”

"That is good to hear, the first meeting that I had with Master Noble, she did come across that way. Giving a wealth of knowledge to me." Nodding her head, "a good plan is nice to have. I plan my days out quite detailed and organised, some consider it rigid but helps me prepare for things like this without further anxiety I find."

Looking at the food, Lily organised a good forkful of curry, rice and bread. Taking a bite, the explosions of flavours, from the meat, spices, rice and bread, it was delightful. It was also a dish that seemed to be naturally organised and separated that tickled and pleased that spot at the back of her mind that she never truly thought that much about. "Oh, this curry seems very delicious and pleasing to look at."

"Yes. It is important for one to have control on their abilities like ours. Otherwise, we will be a danger to all." Lily swallowed hard as she thought about the risks she would pose if she didn't figure out how to control her skills.

Huh. The pungent heat of the curry sort of reminded her of the devilfruit at home. It lacked the juiciness of the stews that had those devilishly hot little surprises in them, but the heat was certainly there nonetheless. Colette took another spoonful and shifted it around in her mouth to try and get an idea for what was in it but it was hard to pinpoint tastes you had never really had before.

Of course, to Lily it very well could have appeared that the tribal girl was playing with her food in her mouth even if such was not the case.

“This is very… Smoky.” She noted and nodded her head approvingly at the choice of words. Smoky was a good characteristic. Wild, but not too wild. It was a comfortable campfire as opposed to a bonfire.

But, then Lily confused her and the content smile disappeared. Colette frowned with a look of confusion.

“What do you mean control?” She asked with genuine confusion. Colette had never shown any signs that she lacked control of her abilities. Inexperience, maybe, but never a lack of control. Maybe Lily was just more potent in her abilities, she figured.

“Is everything alright?”

Lily focused on her food, tasting it and enjoying the spiciness that the curry brought with the sticky rice and bread soaking up some of the sauce of the curry. Once she had finished with the meat of the curry. "Smokey is fair description, there a nice depth of flavour that I find can be lacking in some meals." Lily added, she was usually not as bold in her flavours as she was today.

When Colette asked about control and if she was okay, Lily shrugged, "of course. Just, control is important. Controlling one's emotions and being on guard. That's the whole Jedi thing, to avoid the Dark Side, right?" It was a deflection and lie about how she was, but to hide the usual telltale signs of her deceptions. Lily stuffed more food in her mouth. Distorting the features to not appear so obviously lying.

However, it wouldn't be impossible for Colette to assume she was lying because she stuffed her face either. Double edged sword cut both ways.

“I mean,” Colette said and lowered her spoonful of curry. “Not really?”

“The Jedi thing is to protect people and to be there for them when they need it the most. Instead of avoiding the dark as I understand it, we should really just be focusing on handling our more selfish impulses like envy and jealousy.”

Also known as the things that the galaxy at large encouraged you to dive as deep into as you could. Buy this, buy that, flaunt your excess, and never share. Although Colette felt like she had already driven enough of her beliefs on the topic for today. There was no need to turn conversation into preach.

“It’s easy for me, not being you, to say that — you know — don’t overthink it?” Colette cleared her throat. “But I am pretty sure it’s a lot easier than we, who are only starting out as Jedi, think it is.”

Lily shrugged, "perhaps we are just focusing on the different parts of being a Jedi?" Lily attempted to suggest, not wanting to focus on her views on the Force being a dangerous and wild thing that would do her harm.

There was clearly things that Colette was holding back on saying as Lily did not press it, right now she wasn't eager to jump into the conversation on the Force, she knew her views were biased on her own experiences and how terrifying those experiences were.

"Well, we'll see how it goes. It is early days." Lily agreed, taking more bites of her food. "Did you have a particular part of being a Jedi that you wanted to do?" Lily was still learning a lot of different areas and specialisations of the Force and being a Jedi that it was a little overwhelming for her at times.

“Seems like it.” Colette smiled and shoveled a big piece of the curry into her mouth and began to chew. Thankfully with her mouth closed. She wasn’t a TOTAL savage. The both of them ate for a little bit, perhaps to enjoy the food while it was still at its optimal warmth, but beyond that she was quiet just for the sake of it.

“No, no specialization yet.” Colette shrugged and put the near-empty curry bowl away. “Not sure I want one, y’know? Shadows, sentinels… Okay, maybe I at the very least know the ones I don’t want. The ones who sit around and ponder things. Consulars and the like.”

“Not patient enough for that. What about you?”

“Think about sitting around the temple and contemplate things, or do you want to run around and do things more physical?”

Lily neatly finished her meal and set the utensils aside as she thought about the direction she wanted to take as a Jedi. There were plenty of things about the Force she feared. There were also things that intrigued her and brought her a lot of curiosity and interest.

"I like to read and study. I found it helpful to study and read different things but I see it more as a hobby. I don't think I could do it as work. To spend all day in some archives or library, forced to read or understand things. That is less appealing." Lily confessed as she thought about what she wanted to do. "My skills in combat would mean I would be a skilled Jedi Guardian. However, I find it is unfair to jump down a pathway just because I am Echani. My aunt became a healer so perhaps healing?"

Though all that took was a thought about pus, blood and broken limbs to send a shiver down Lily's back to say that she would never enjoy that lifestyle.

"I enjoy the physical aspects of the Jedi life. I am not sure I want to be running around. Perhaps investigate mysteries? Or work like Master Noble and go around hunting down Sith remnants?" There had been a fair amount of thought into the matter for Lily but she wasn't leaping to anything final yet. The Force was still something she found terrifying.

"Maybe I'll end up taking up the work that the knight who found me did." Colette mused. "Travel world to world, looking up things from the archives and see if they are true."

It lined up with her expectations of life at home too. Once a scout, always a scout. The scale had simply gotten a few hundred thousand times bigger.

Well, whatever, it was a few years away so Colette had plenty of time to think about it. She put the bowl of curry down on her tray and slowly rotated it to get back to her sushi pieces again and looked over towards the stalls again.

"Master Noble is a good example to follow." She said and turned back to Lily. "Though, maybe not through and through. She has a lot of experience that is really good to learn from."

"But she is still just a person, and they are generally best kept on the ground rather than lifted to the sky."

Nodding her head, "that sounds like it would be good fun. Allows you to explore the galaxy and see the many different cultures. And might get to try even more different types of food. Just have to make sure to come and visit often to update me." Lily wanted to hear the adventures of her friends.

While she was finished with her food for now, it seemed that Colette was able to start her sushi now. Clearly saving her favourite for last. She stretched her limbs and rubbed the back of her neck.

"She seems a very nice person, makes sense to have people wanting to follow in her footsteps. Not sure I completely want to go down that path at the moment, however, fighting is my best skill." Lily sighed a little, "so, did you want to look for any desserts that might be on sale after you finish?"

There was no denying that Colette wanted to see the world for herself and perceive it in her own mind. From having seen such a small piece of it and wanting to have mastered that, to suddenly having a whole galaxy open, her wanderlust had grown immensely in just a few months.

And then Valery. The closest thing to family Colette had out there. It meant a lot to have her around.

“No dessert for me, I think.” Colette shook her head and shoved another piece of sushi into her mouth. “I have what I want.”

“Wait, unless you really meant that you wanted a dessert, of course.” She swallowed. “Then we can definitely go looking if you want.”
