- Planetary Features: Three large mountain ranges, glacial plain ice caps, multiple small inland seas
- Major Locations:
- Regions
- The Continent
- The Glasslands
- The large northeastern expanse that holds much of Nothmir’s mineral resources. The area’s ground consists of an obsidian like substance that while difficult to dig through conceals a mineral wealth that has sustained the planet for thousands of years. The area has little plant life but still hosts migratory herds that eat the moss growing on the volcanic glass.
- The Glacial Plains
- The far north of the main continent is covered by a massive expanse of ice that can exceed 1,500m in thickness. This area provides much of the freshwater that flows through the continent’s rivers. In some places the peaks of mountains are just barely out of the ice. These glaciers expand and retract over the hemisphere’s seasons.
- The Tundras
- Only slightly warmer than the Glasslands directly west, the tundra’s inhabited areas primarily host large agricultural domes used to raise animals during the long winters.
- The Prairies
- Wide expanses of grassland and hills that make up the area with the largest population. Area where First Landing is located.
- The Glasslands
- The Continent
- Cities
- First Landing: The capital of Nothmir built just north of the equator
- Glesland: A large northern city built at the edge of the winter maximum extent of the glacial plains. Economy mainly based on refining and manufacturing goods from the resources of the surrounding Glasslands region.
- Isfolk: A major hub of travel from the rest of the galaxy. Features a large number of hospitals specializing in genetic therapies and experimental treatment.
- Military:
- The Citadel: A large military installation with gun batteries, training facilities, and landing pads near First Landing. Also the hub of the world’s military forces.
- Northern Polar Fortress: A large military installation with gun batteries, training facilities, and landing pads built at the north pole of Nothmir. Nicknamed “Hothmir” by visiting friendly forces due to the extreme winter conditions.
- Military installations: Asteroid belt, Disiplina, Anake, Hades. All include extensive bunker networks and anti-ship batteries.
- Regions
- Force Nexus: No force nexus
POPULATION
- Native Species: None other than flora and a few unremarkable insects
- Immigrated Species: Humans, a small Chiss population, some livestock animals.
- Population: Moderate
- Demographics: Mainly humans originating from Mandalore, a small Chiss population also lives in the major cities
- Primary Languages: Offshoot Mando’a dialect, galactic basic
- Culture: Most humans on Nothmir fall into one of three "Pillars of society" Industry, Science, and Military. The planet has retained some of old Mandalore’s clan system, but it has shifted to become more of a formality as opposed to a system of political entities.
- Government: Parliamentary Triumvirate
- The Nothmiro government is made up of three connected structures. The judicial branch, which is semi-independent; the Parliament, which elects representatives based on a district system; and the Triumvirate, which is made up of the leaders of the three largest parties and acts as the executive branch.
- Affiliation: The Nothmiro Federation
- Wealth: Medium
- Stability: High
- Freedom & Oppression: For most of the population life is fairly free. Every citizen has the right to free speech and association, freedom of movement, the right to vote, and freedom of equal treatment before the law. However there is a catch, only those who complete two years of civil service in either the Peacekeeper Corps, the Labour Corps, or other duties can be citizens. Xenophobia, especially for non-humanoid species, is extreme as the world’s culture is scarred by the constant horror of the farthest reaches of the Unknown Regions.
- Military: Highly militarized
- Planetary Defence Force: Made up of citizens completing their mandatory 1 year of civil service in a military role. Primarily used as a way to foster nationalism, training and equipment are basic.
- Peacekeeper Corps: The primary forces of the Nothmiro Federation. The Corps are large hybrid navy-army forces favouring mechanized infantry and armoured vehicles to maximise the impact of their numerically inferior forces
- Technology: Galactic standard, advanced medical and genetic sciences technology along with semi-divergent weapons technology.
Origins:
In the aftermath of the Mandalorian Wars, a handful of small clans set out from their war-torn homeworld for greener pastures and a more isolated lifestyle towards the galactic rim, traveling on a fleet of transports and capital ships north and west through to the unknown regions. While the initial intended location has been lost to time, what is recorded is the massive navigational errors caused by the turbulent and hazardous areas, as well as a series of emergency jumps made by the fleet as they were hounded by many of the hostile aliens inhabiting the Unknown Regions. After years of living as starbound nomads, the fleet happened across the Nothmir system and took a liking to it. The system was a natural fortress, and since interdiction tech had not yet been invented its unique advantage proved to be the system’s unstable magnetic environment.
Initially landing at the blandly named “First Landing” the exiles turned colonists quickly set up a small city and began to colonise the planet. However many alien species such as the Chiss and others would begin to threaten what they saw as squatters in a strategically advantageous location. This led to the development of a xenophobic outlook within the Mandalorian population, without more friendly species to provide a more open perspective.
Nothmir's government and the old clans of the world still hold a claim to Mandalore, seeing it as an ancestral home despite the long isolation the planet endured. While the title of Mand'alor is no longer officially the leader of the Nothmiros any who would hold it may find a valuable ally in the offshoot world.
Technology:
Technology continued to advance largely isolated except for any captured alien artifacts, with much focus being put on maximizing the economic output and combat effectiveness of the population to make up for its small size. Plasma based weapons and beam guns were favoured for starships, while infantry carry a variety of weapons from a branching category of blasters (see the Pacificator Crucible Arm). Powered armour is heavily favoured over more conventional infantry equipment, and some even include personal shielding.
Medical technology has pushed somewhat past the galactic standard, improved bacta fluids, surgical methods, and medical therapies have provided a valuable and even profitable service for the world. Collections of medical experts and those looking for treatment frequent the world, exchanging ideas and funds in equal measure.
