Now This Is Podracing!

Jak Sandrow

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
Jak was in the pits, literally, and was watching the race from a handheld monitor and from the screen beside him which showed a view of the bow and stern of Allaina's pod. He hoped that she wouldn't expose herself as Omega Pyre - at least, not just yet. He was ready to do any in-race repairs, if they were needed.

<Mlukta swore as the upstart's pod managed to get by him. He "accidently" bumped it, and it swerved out of control to crash in a large fireball. He smiled - then saw the orange pod (the Human female, he remembered) dodge it and keep coming. He snarled and pulled a hidden lever on his control rod.>

(OOC: @[member="Allaina Mare"], he just shot at you, what happened?)

Hevana eyed the outfit with a scornful look. Not because it would look bad on her (she knew she would be hot), but rather it had very little material. "Nice outfit, but where the heck am I supposed to hide my weapons? These races don't always attract the best of crowds you know."

Despite her objection, the plan itself more the piqued her interest. Seducing was certainly something she did not mind getting paid for. As long as she did not have to seduce any guys at least. The idea made her oddly uncomfortable, and more than a little nervous. Women she knew and understood. Men were... different. Despite years of working along side them in the Stormtroopers Corps there had always been an insulation between them. She fought beside them, but they were hidden behind their white armor. More importantly, so was she.

Still, a mission was a mission. "Alright, I guess we better go get changed." Finding a place to change she settled for just the knife, daggers, and the smaller blaster for weapons. The rest she carefully wrapped up in her clothing and hid where it would be safe for at least the next day or so should it come to that. Finally she presented herself to Malica giving a shy smile. "So what do you think?"

Blasts erupted around her and Allaina knew it was time to start fighting. Rocks were all around her now and she could escape this guy in the next cave around the stalactites and stalagmites. She'd lose a few precious seconds, perhaps even her position in the race, but it was preferable death.

Just like her favourite interceptors, she went evasive.

Keying the transmitter in her helmet to her crew, she started to sound panicked. "This guy has guns and I don't know if I can shake him all race!"

Well, that was a thing. That was definitely a thing. "Boss ma'am, take a shot at me first. Nail him second - it'll look like an accident. If you put him out too early and arouse suspicion, we'll get nailed!"

Ugh. Ugh ugh ugh. Allaina had to keep her eyes on the track - she barely dodged that canyon wall. If she could get around this corner, use her fuel feeds and overdrive her engines for just a second, she might be able to take the lead soon!

Tegaea loaded the boltgun with solid slugs and took aim. There wasn't much time. She took aim and...fired.

The slug, more by luck than design, smacked into the rear of the cabin, missing Allaina's head by inches and going through her pod...thankfully without much damage. Swiftly Tegaea shifted her aim to the leading pod and...pulled the trigger.

The slug soared in just as the pod roared past, and struck right in the left engine, the slug mangling vital engine components. She didn't look to see the result, but quickly used her jetpack to get away from the scene....

While Tegaea had been intervening to give Allaina not entirely legal assistance - but then the opposition had not been idle either. Even with their secret backroom deals, Massive Dynamic had invested quite a substantial sum in this race. They had plans to take control anyway regardless of its outcome, but it would enhance legitimacy if their competition lost.

So when Tegaea used her jetpack to escape the crime scene before her actions got noted, she was soon intercepted by three Mandalorian bounty-hunters, clearly recognisable in their red armour, both using jetpacks as was a characteristic of their people. Clad out in armour with wrist-mounted flamethrowers and light repeaters, they put her under fire.

It seemed they wanted to drive her off a course, perhaps divert her to another group of thugs that was lying in wait near the caves further away in the grand canyon.

Crack!

There was a hole in her pod. Never mind the guy who was meant to be the favourite and his engines being shredded, Allaina was going to stay on course. Visibly shaken by the fact she was now leaking something out of her pod, probably coolant fluid, Alaina needd to keep her pod together all race. Therewere very few stops and she was going to have to hope that someone died out of their stupidity.

She could do it. She could do it. She thanked Tegaea silently for her efforts. That guy who had been shooting her wouldn't be on her tail any time soon. Now she had no competition. Now she really could win!

...Hopefully. If her pod didn't give out.

Siobhan had been watching the ongoing race with a mixture of excitement and concern for Allaina. She was certain the pilot could do it, but jus standing there and watching was irritating.

Her fist clenched when she heard Allaina's panicked plea through her comm, she tensed and wanted to fly into action, but then she heard the crack of a shot further in the distance. The PDA-like device with a radar function of sorts still showed Allaina's pod was in the game, so she assumed her rival had been struck. Good riddance.

Siobhan turned and started to walk from the position she had taken in the arena, moving to a better vantage point. The three armoured Mandalorian thugs who had sat down behind her got up as well and followed, she felt like rolling her eyes at how 'discreet' they were being. This coming from someone whose idea of stealth was using one thermal detonator instead of two, but still.

The thugs followed her down, she cocked her head, stretching out. She could see a few Mandalorian mercenaries leave the small booth were the Massive Dynamic VP and the Gran dignitaries were seated on cushioned seats, surrounded by hangers-on and beauties. As she turned away from observing she suddenly found herself facing two purple Twi'lek females, enticingly dressed. For just a very shor moment the thugs were forgotten.

"Leaving so soon," one of them purred, stepping forward and putting her arm on Siobhan's shoulder for a short moment. "Are you enjoying the race?"

"Oh, yeah, it's a bag of fun," Siobhan responded, giving them a smile as her eyes briefly ran over her ample bosom. "You two work here?" In the nature of their people, without wanting to sound speciecist, their attire was rather form-fitting, though it would provide little actual protection.

"We're dancers, yes," the other Twi'lek joined in, moving to Siobhan from her right. "For exclusive clients. You're with Omega, yes? You have a great pilot out there."

"We're on break right now. Would you care for a private session?" the first female whispered into her air, her tongue flicking across not, quite touching, but Siobhan shuddered a bit under the breath, she got an enticing view of the girl's voluptuous chest.

Despite her haze, she sensed the three thugs taking up position behind her and their murderous intent. They were slowly reaching for their holstered blasters. She gave the girls a grin. It was a bit of a shame. Admittedly tentacles were not her thing, but it would have been entertaining.

"That would be...lots of fun," the ex-Jedi drawled, pulling the first Twi'lek closer. The girl smirked, Siobhan bent down as if to kiss her, at the same time the Twi'lek reached for a vibro-dagger.

Their lips brushed against each other, then suddenly Siobhan grabbed her by the lekku and violently yanked her around, knocking her into the first thug. "Sorry, but there are these two awesome redheads. I'm afraid you don't compare!"On reflex the mercenary fired his blaster but the shot hit the ceiling.

Siobhan's lightsabre was in her hand, spinning in a fast motion. A thug fired with two automatic pistols and she reflected the shots back, then swung the blade to chop his hands off. As the blaster fire intensified she leapt into the air, driving her boot into the neck of the second thug with a hard kick and bringing her sabre down upon his shoulder to cut through.

As she landed one of the Twi'leks threw a vibroblade at her but she sensed this and swung her sabre to cut it in half. As she moved to engage she was surprised by a hard kick to her jaw. She reeled a bit, dodging another strike. When she lunged at the Twi'lek to cut her legs the alien jumped, evading her strike, then to her surprise jumped over her.

"Nice flexibility, you know we could've had lots of fun!" Siobhan called to her, amused. The last thug produced a repeater and sent a barrage of bolts towards her. One of the Twi'leks let loose a hail of rounds with a rapid-fire blaster pistol. Siobhan deflected and dodged, with a tug from the Force she picked up one of the corpses and tossed it at him.

The Twi'lek dodged, the thug got knocked down. Siobhan spun around to slam her fist into the other Twi'lek's jaw, then kicked her hard in the knee. As she reeled drove her blade into her stomach, impaling her.

As she did this knives whizzed past her head, she winced as her ear was struck by a cut. The last Twi'lek grabbed the repeater and fired, moving with great speed to evade rounds Siobhan reflected back.

Spinning her sabre Siobhan advanced, rounds bounced off her sabre and landed on the ceiling, the walls, she was enjoying herself and smirked when the Twi'lek grew frustrated, then with a tug from the Force she ripped the gun out of her hands and turned it, pulling the trigger. The first rounds the Twi'lek evaded, but then cried out when she was hit in the back. As she lay there bleeding on the ground and tried to reach for a knife, Siobhan approached her and without further ado decapacitated her.

She felt an urge for a smoke as the alien's head was separated from her body and tumbled down. No doubt someone had heard the commotion, the competition was taking the gloves off.

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
<Mlukta cursed. Someone dared to shoot at him!!" He looked at his rear-view monitor, and saw the girl's pod on his tail. She was hit, too. So it's not her, he mused. Then who?>

Jak Sandrow

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
Jak saw Allaina get hit by the sniper shot. He saw the coolant fuel leak from her pod. He turned on his headset. "Allaina, this is Jak. You're almost done lap 1. Come to our pit and I'll patch you up."

To say that the Hutt was all together pleased with their presence was putting it lightly.

Having every single one of the guards point their weapons at them the moment they entered the pourstone palace made one feel mighty unwelcome.

"Great...."

Jorus unslung the Mandalorian shell gun, all casual and so forth. One barrel still had riot-control ammo in it, and one would make a really nice fireball.

The gun wasn't exactly pointed at the Hutt's guards. But it wasn't exactly pointed away from them, either.

"Yeah. The big scary guy who's supposed to win can't win now with as much damage as that hit did. Hell, I heard it. That shot would've taken out his engine block, considering how much damage to my pod there is. I'm going to need a patch and a little coolant fluid."

The pod finally pulled into the pit and Allaina waited, hoping Jak could get this done...

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
Jak rushed over and pulled out a roll of duct tape (Or the Star Wars equivalent) and got to work on the coolant tank. As he did so, his crew filled Allaina's fuel tanks and the leaky coolant tank. As the repairs were finished, and the crews were just topping off the tanks, Jak leaned over into the cockpit. "If you have to," he said, pointing to the control rod, "there's a trigger under that flap there. It is automatic tracking, so don't get allies in front of you."

Ayden mentally counted the guards. 'Five... Ten... Seventeen guards.' Looking around them, there were dozens more patrons there, with no easy way of determining how many of those beings had weapons. And of course, the place was absolutely trapped. And that sick grin that each Hutt wore was positively nauseating. Still, they could do nothing to hamper Ayden's sense of self. "No no, please. By all means. Point your weapons at us if it'll make you feel safe."

Mandalorians. Interesting.

Tegaea was no ace with a jetpack, so she tactically repositioned at a higher level and waited. Loading up with bolts she saw them coming in. A hail of blaster file whistled around her position as she took cover and returned fire. The Mandalorians were clearly not expecting her weapon, because one of them was hit right on by a bolt and blown apart. His smoking corpse dropped to the street below.
The other quickly took cover, and a game of cat and mouse ensued. The bolt gun was slow to fire and the minimum range was short, but she had few options as they got closer, firing all the time. Once she had to jet away as a grenade almost took her out.
Then, one was on her, fired a blaster at her, but fortunately her armour just held. He charged her with a blade, and in desperation she fired the bolter into him. At such close range the warhead couldn't arm, but it still smacked him hard in the head like a bullet, staggering him. Up came her arm and a jet of fire flared from her wrist, engulfing the Mandalorian in flaming liquid. As tried to put himself out she shoulder charged him and knocked him screaming from the roof to crunch on the pavement below.

The last Mandalorian took that moment to attack, striking with his vibro-sword. It cleaved into her side between two armour plates. The armour held, mostly, but she felt a lance of pain as the metal sliced into her. She fell, and as he towered over her to strike she did the only thing she could...activate her jetpack! The wash of exhaust caught him in the face, and as he reeled Tegaea fired the bolter into him. Being in midair, she was just far enough away, and the bolt blew the mercenary to pieces.

Tegaea dropped down to the roof and clutched her side. She had some bacta patches, but she'd likely need some medical attention....

Meanwhile Siobhan had hacked down a few more thugs, though these engagements were less eventful and thus shall not be reported, before finally getting away.

She had heard shots, though these were dim and further in the distance. The ex-Jedi activated her comm, calling @Teg Alcori. Unlike a great number of other Force-users, she was not gifted in the art of telepathy and could not miraculously home in on her lover's occasion, but she picked up on a sense of wrongness through the Force.

"Tegs, it's Siobhan. What's your status?" she asked, heading to the top. Her grim visage and the blood splattered on her jacket was enough to make guests and even some thugs part.

Tegaea clutched her side, stumbled against the roof and tried to contain the bleeding. It was heavier than she expected.
"Siobhan...got a bit of a problem. Mandalorians attacked me. One of them got me with a sword in the side. Might need some medical attention. Activating my homer. I'll try and get down to the ground floor...." She winced.
