Now you see me

There was a bit of work to be done. Kaia had a few ideas, seeing as she spent a lot of time between worlds, she was doing the best to make the use of her time. Studying avionics, studying mechanics, anything that didn’t really require advanced degrees or the time and patience to play with a droid brain. Sure, she had her Z7 aftermarket modified to assist with these projects, a bit of a G0-T0 unit, but still having its exploration and mapping skills. It was a nice droid. She enjoyed it.

But Kaia was a bit cold. She could be the type who’d be using the Force to create frost. And maybe fire. Wouldn’t that be cool? She wouldn’t need weapons, she would be the weapon to defend the space lanes.

She looked over at her father as he was talking to [member="Eliza Steele"] and then [member="Remy Steele"] spoke. Well, she was going to start piecing together the code. Young kid, faster with the computer, right? Partially.

Eliza had kept her head down and nose to the grind stone while her father flirted. When [member="Rekha Kaarde"] brought her specialty caf over, the petite smuggler stopped and thanked the other brunette, then took a good sip of the steaming black liquid.

"See Dad… This is real caf, not that gut rock you push off on your customers, though again most of them aren't looking for the taste but rather the caffeine kick. I just happen to be a lover of both," Lizzy said with a bit of a smug tone to it as she went back to slicing the code once again.

Each level got harder and harder to isolate what needed to be taken out and spliced in. It was only natural, but the Corellisi was determined to do it.

When [member="Coren Starchaser"] asked how they were doing, the younger Steele had a lopsided grin on her face, knowing she was ahead of her old man. "Just finished up the second level and starting into the third level now. This is where it's gonna get tricky."

[member="Kaia Starchaser"]

In the old saying go better let then never right? Well at less she hope in this case it would be. After all been doing a great deal behind for the group at hand. Walking her way towards the door, after she had a time finding where she could get a good hot tea to bring with her. Pushing up her glasses as she made her way over towards the door. Pushing with her very pettie hand of hers the door giving a way.

Trying to make lite of the situation at hand, 'Please don't all look at once." , this was just as she look at the mess that seem to be taking place.

Letting out a low whistle, "OOPS what we got going on here looks like we in the recycling business.",

Right, so, now he had a lot to deal with. Getting through some code, and making sure everyone had jobs. Once the battle of the bars, which he would drink at both throughout his career in the Underground, was over, they could probably get back to work. But what harm was it causing? It wasn’t like the Steeles ever shipped out with him. [member="Rekha Kaarde"] though, she was one of his. Her, Ana and Spark really made up the people he flew with the most often. And he was okay with that.

Though getting to know [member="Remy Steele"] and [member="Eliza Steele"] probably wouldn’t hurt. He had been working on one of these projects in the background between jumps. He had a lot of free time on his hands when he wasn’t running guns, or rescuing refugees or teaching classes. It came down to multi-tasking. Unlike the writer, Coren could manage his time and did a lot of work for the Frontiers Corps and Astro Academy while he was jumping from place to place.

He hated staying in one place, especially with his worlds gone or under Sith control.

He was going to change that. Someone needed to start fighting back.

Nodding at Eliza, he patted the top of her back, not in any kind of touchy feely way, just between comrades. “Good work. Once these are done, the trick is we’ll be able to cycle through a few pre-sets. Good for when you need to bug out but know you’re going into a system where you’ll be bottle necked. And then, breaking the code will allow us to program them a bit quicker and easier than your average transponder.” He was feeling like he was using his professor voice and that bothered him.

Looking to the door, the Corellian nodded. People had schedules, he just let people know when he was going to be here and what kind of project he had lined up. Not really arts and crafts tie… okay, it was arts and crafts time for Underground pilots, but there wasn’t a set schedule. “Welcome, grab a terminal. I’ve set up some IFFs, and we’re working on slicing them, making a re-writable and switchable IFF system for starships.” Of course it’d be smaller ships, so the Factory Judges don’t try to burn everything he loves.

What was this one's name again? Right, [member="Alaina Merrill"].

[SIZE=12pt]So she was doing her usual thing, well her other usual thing. Serving a few drinks to the customers doing the work. She brought [member="Remy Steele"] his caf and smiled. “Yeah mine is better than yours” She giggled like a silly girl, “Should have some bar wars or something someday.”[/SIZE]

[SIZE=12pt]Rekha looked over Eliza’s shoulder, “you know Eliza you seem awfully calm these days, you um…well…finding ways of venting your frustrations?” Rekha playfully asked.[/SIZE]

[SIZE=12pt]Rekha was a horrid flirt, and at times a busy body and today would be no exception to that way of life. She tilted her head, “you should go with me one night to…” Where could she take her, “This little diner I know run by my really good friend [member="Dekkan Fray"] . “[/SIZE]

[SIZE=12pt]Dekkan was close to her he had been her life saver with life was at its darkest moment, and he ran a damn good diner.[/SIZE]

The petite smuggler gave a friendly head nod to [member="Alaina Merrill"], then went back to working on modifying the IFF's she was slicing. Eliza was so close… just a few more strokes perhaps, then she'd have a set to show [member="Coren Starchaser"].

When [member="Rekha Kaarde"] mentioned that the spirited Corellisi seemed more calm these days and if it was because she had found ways to vent her frustrations, the brunette just grinned slyly. There was no way in hell Eliza was going to go into the details with her father in the room. Truth was she had indeed had found a way to liberate herself thanks to the Mando'ad [member="Kad Tor"]. Their on-going long distance relationship was just what the doctor ordered. It definitely had given the smuggler a much needed attitude adjustment, and a new appreciation for men, well this one at least.

"We should do that. I'm always eager to indulge in good greasy diner food, then we can swap the latest gossip of the galaxy," Lizzy winked, then made one last key stroke and sat back at her data station.

"Finished with my three! Care to check em out?" she offered, then brought the caf cup to her lips and took a hearty sip.

[member="Kaia Starchaser"] [member="Remy Steele"]

Coren nodded over at Eliza, before giving the group a look. He figured Kaia was working as hard as she could and he wasn’t going to bother her. But right now? He wanted to make sure some of this data was coming along well. It was more so that when he put it together and helped create a package for everyone, that there wouldn’t be a chance of it faltering in their ships. That’d be bad, coming into a zone, thinking and acting like you’re someone else and then it showing you’re not.

“Sure, send it over to my station.” He wanted to see the pieces of code on the file, but didn’t want to crowd [member="Eliza Steele"] and her work station.

“Anyone else?” He’d hope that someone would be catching up. If not, Eliza just jumped to the head of the class.

[member="Eliza Steele"] it's kind of an upscale greasy spoon on Abregad-Rae, I'm sure [member="Dekkan Fray"] wouldn't mind us dropping in one night and dancing on his ceiling" She smiled thinking about when she used her antigrav boots to walk on the side of the diner.

Lucky for her Dekkan was not there that night, unlucky for her Greg had been there. But that was another time another...whatever it was. Rekha smiled, "So how hard is it to learn how to do this rewiring thing?"

She was good at figuring things out, maybe she could learn this too.

"Oh honey, I'd be happy to show ya," he said to [member="Rekha Kaarde"] as he patted the empty stool next to him. "Sending mine your way boss," he said to [member="Coren Starchaser"] as he shot a look to his daughter, [member="Eliza Steele"]. She'd beat him done, though she did start before him.

He took a drink of the caf. Damn it was better than his. He had to learn the recipe one way or the other, or get one better. He'd just have to take one for the team and seduce the brunette into giving up her secrets. Some sacrifice that was going to be. Wow, he was bad and he knew it. Remy was too old to keep playing the field and he knew it, but it didn't stop him. There was still a lot of hurt to drive away with how young he had been when he lost his bride. Eliza looked like her too. That likely was why he was so damned protective of her.

"Well, dear, what do ya say?"

[member="Remy Steele"]

Rekha just knew she was playing with a bit of fire in this but she was not one to turn down the offer of something new. She climbed onto the stool next to Remy, "Show me what you got" She smiled. She knew that Remy would take it one way, and then the other. She could use some heavy flirting mixed with sarcasm, so let's see how well [member="Eliza Steele"] 's Dad did against Ms. Sarcasm.

She looked over at [member="Coren Starchaser"] then too, he wouldn't be surprised by her answers. Now as for Remy seducing her well she'd see about that he wasn't too old for her and she did tend to get along better with an older crowd, but he'd have to be able to put up with her character.

He nodded. Rek could entertain the Steeles while Kaia was out doing whatever she was, catching up. The same with the Merrill cousin. Everyone had been working well at this, aside from Karen really, who cut out, but he’d make sure she got one of these pieces of gear, a copy to use how she wanted. It was what the Underground did, after all, but you had to earn your way. No free lunch, as the old folks say.

The young folks, though, they’d be talking about the young things.

Cue a whistle.

He started going over the code, pulling up what he had worked on earlier, a bit of slicing and combining of these transponders was all that was needed, but in order for it to be written and re-written properly, the codes needed to be jail broken.

He heard the conversation change from Steele the Elder flirting up Rekha and locked eyes with one of his Angels and smirked. Right, he was just going to let that end in a crash for Remy. The man was going to be in for an event on this one. “You’ll show ‘im up, once you get the jist of it, Rek.” Yeah, he had his favorites, so what?

"Looking good, Eliza. Your father's needs some work, might wanna fix your father's code for him."
