NPC enemies

The Vagrant Fleet and the Omega Protectorate had a ton of success by blending Bando Gora with Firefly Reavers. They got some great stories out of it. I think we need something comparable, just as implacable, just as scary, but different.

I think we need xenomorphs.

Yes, I've been reading a ton of Alien books lately, but seriously, we need xenomorphs. Not a straight rip, I think, but something that ticks all the same boxes. Canon has to have something - the closest I can recall is Dark Nest Killiks, Charon, or Rhak-skuri. Anything come to mind?

So in addition found some Chaos canon to support NPC idea's

How about an extra-galactic droid society something a kin to the http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Silentium? They are present now somewhere in the Outer Rim. Maybe we come across them and they give us grief. Different...

Darth Rapax, on 17 Nov 2015 - 9:03 PM, said: Rapax pryed the door open that lead into this ancient vessel...he could hear metal tear in the distance...the ship was as dark as the abyss - Ancient ship

This would give The Silrntium an "in" / reason to come, maybe those on the ship woke up and called their kin?

Darth Venefica, on 16 Oct 2015 - 05:10 AM, said: great volcanic eruption, several labs where abandoned, leaving various vital information behind. -Noting a research lab

BR rebuild these and began exparments with sith derived alchemy, recreated version of the rahghouls

Ok how about well both machine race attacks through space, alcchamized opponents on the ground, we let people pick their opponents and go to town.
I'm inclined to stick with one enemy for now, and find the perfect one. A major reason I thought of xenomorphs was that they're just as nasty in space - and they make spaceships into story settings rather than gamepieces.

All good ideas, folks. Keep'em coming and let's see what we can find. Or heck, make: I'm not much for Codex, but I know some of us are.

OK here is my pitch

I like the idea of a "grand enemy", an alchemised race that is the lasting legacy of the Black Rose.

The research facility on Demonsgate was Uukaablian who are known for their medical technology and are native to the outback.

The Black Rose has some how captured some Aing-Tii people and alchemised them into xenomorphs, when the underground arrives at said lab we find it filled with eggs, then... BAM Aliens with force powers!

Go get ripply, game over man, game over....

No but seriously somehow the queen escapes, we chase, she get off planet and.. bobs your uncle we have not only a fun story but a new enemy that can pop up any time.

and it is tots canon friendly

That's a cool direction. My one hitch is that the Black Rose people are griping like MAD about us on an OOC level, and if we make an eeevil research project and attribute it to them, they'll flip even more. Now, if they actually DID do this crap, we've got a lot more leeway, in which case this kind of direction would please me. You got their post links for the Uukaablian/alchemy/research facility?

So the lab's orgin is my idea, they really didn't go into it.

Below is evidence of alchemy and experimentation, she has a few more threads like this ....

Objective: Search for Virus & Mining Facilities
Location: Demonsgate Surface
Allies: [member="Darth Venefica"]
Enemies: Unknown
Post Count: 3/20

Seras looked at Venefica and the woman's plan was simple enough, simple was good it allowed you to change it if need be and when working with viruses well you needed to be able to adapt. She was looking at the troopers and this wasn't her command but she was the scientist who had weaponized their zombie plague, she had some special ideas for how they could use this and it wasn't just in the lab. Her zombie queen deserved only the best in weapons to use and nothing wrong with her getting to lay on a bed of black blood that had been created from those they infected and killed. She already seasoned their food with the tears of dead children.

Seras looked up when reports came to her forearm pad, she was motioning for the troopers t move as her attention went to some of the weapons they have been before she popped one of the vials out of her arm. Sliding somethign else into it while moving forward allowing a soldier to pop and cut into the vent system as she looked towards the fans to cycle the air. One hand outstretched pumping the mist of the psychotropic into the air while she was breathing in the breath mask. "Make sure your helmets stay on, these humans are going to be seeing something quite interesting." She was watching Seras give the orders and reloaded walking forward.

Seras looked at the woman as she was getting a mask and she tapped on her forearm datapad showing it could record as needed. "It wouldn't be good for testing it you can't record the results." She had a grin under her mask and letting the gas go while she was moving and preparing. Workign wwith the croa and directing them before her attention shifted to the scanner. "The others are continuing in towards the warehouses the mining facilities have used. Their wanting to get at the phrol is obvious but there are special plans for it." She had a few ideas and things that could be done while letting the force course through her body going forward and letting the gas seep itno the facility.

She had her hand and the force while she sprayed the one in the face and pushed the darkside influence on his mind as she slowly spoke. Fingers at his eyes while she pointed then led them to her eyes. "Be in me." She moved to keep her eyes locked don his while Venefica was using the force and she didn't let him turn his head to get distracted as she continued. "No do as I sat and look into my eyes human, you want to kill your friends they have become infected by the plague and the croa are your friends." She was watchign as he moved off with a blaster raised and started attacking people.

The Admiralty
I was musing about this subject yesterday and I got an idea.

We are Kathol Outbacking, right? Why not make the Qektoth Confederation our Big Bad? [member="Jorus Merrill"] you are way thicker into the Kathol regular as well as chaos canon, weren't they pretty much unyielding in their beliefs and very much the: "My way or the death-way"-type of deal?

I have a scientist character who could play as opposition every once in a while in dominions. Unleashing biological creations etc.

Just an idea, really.

Also she gave us an opening....

The organization disbanded a long time ago. I can assure you that any members that was here will be ghosts. records of all personal where burned and destroyed to protect their identity. So I can't help you on that front. There is only one name I can give you. The welp recently well captured me when my guard was down. so I will make you a deal let the transports and escorts through and I'll give you the name.

She notes the went dark here, some could have stayed, unbeknownst to her to continue their work.

Well that's just...special.

OK, so, clearly there was alchemy experimentation going on, a lot of it. So we'll still get some grief, but we can point to that thread and so forth.

So back to figuring out what kind of enemy we need
  • Terrifying in space and on ground - like, whoever we go with has to be something that would scare Jorus in close quarters. I hate cakewalks; those threads turn into going through the motions, just massacres with no heart.
  • Something that makes ships/stations into settings, rather than gamepieces, and keeps scale small and intimate.
  • Something that propagates quickly, either from infectivity or from a super-fast maturation cycle.
What else?

The Qektoth are interesting. I'm going to do a writeup on them as part of the Kathol guide. Cyborg biotechnology, experimentation on people - they're weird and evil and a goodish fit. I still have to review some of the material - it's been a while.

[member="Bryce Bantam"]

And I think that's the edited/retconned version. I read the dominion a while back, and I'm pretty sure Sanya's posts were a lot worse. They tried to re-brand and cover up when they wanted the Republic as allies - and to avoid getting stomped by the GA.

From discussion with [member="Khaleel Malvern"]:

[7:05:47 AM] Manwench: I feel like the Confederation can be the Bigger Bad of the narrative, that unleashes the horrors we fight against on a daily basis
[7:06:14 AM] Manwench: we aren't big enough to take 'em on directly, so we gotta be smart, rebel-y
[7:06:29 AM] Manwench: and have to deal with their mutated xenomorph creations
[7:06:36 AM] Jon: i dig it
[7:06:47 AM] Jon: their star cluster is tiny but could easily be dense and heavily fortified
[7:07:22 AM] Manwench: plus they are very very science-y, so it wouldn't be entirely out of the question that they might be small, but pack a lot of punch

BR did a thread about trying to acquire the means to create a zombie virus. Far as I can tell, they wanted to recreate Blackwing. Thread didn't go anywhere, but it's mentioned they did research like that for a while.

* Sumiko sells info * :D

Xenomorphs are fun. Sio fought them during Firemane's conquest of Gehenna. That was cool. Same applies to Klaxxi.
