NPC enemies

It also wouldn't be big hurdle to tie in the Black Rose's experimentation with alchemy. Maybe the Qektoth got their hands on the research when the Rose abandoned their stuff or they even helped them covertly for their own intents and purposes.

Basically the Qektoth Confederation is our indirect Big Bad who we can't directly oppose because they are too advanced for us to tackle on.

So we gotta be smart about the conflict. Be rebel-y.

I really, really, really love this angle.

prefect tie in [member="Khaleel Malvern"], Qektoth Confederation snuck in begin us while we were in blockade, went to the lab, let loose the bad stuff to try and frame the underground.... we got our enemies and it is not the BR's fault directly.

I love it

I also have a prefect tie in, the Starr is a medical cutter we respond to reports of major illness in the villages around the lab, creatures start popping out of stomachs or something, I call for HELP!

I think we are getting somewhere here.

Now we gotta tie-down the actual 'xenomorph' enemy that we will be fighting. Do we want something canonical? Alchemized expy of a canon creature? Create a whole new thing in the Codex?

Preferences?

I am like 80% sure you did something with the Witchmasters, amulet of transformation and told me the canon beast was basically a xenomorph, [member="Jorus Merrill"]?

Oh as sorry one more point...

Not only should the release them in the Lab area, maybe they took some of these baddies and begin spreading them to other villages, think like mass outbreak, the only why we stop it is to take out the Qektoth Confederation agents.

Tough because we get spread thin, constantly putting out fires?

That was definitely my idea, too. We are still smallish, can't be everywhere at once and its a constant struggle to keep on top of the situation.

I should sleep less.

I love the idea of the Q being the indirect big-bad. Gives us a canon tie-in that is loose enough we can go freaking wild on it. Them taking or running on the BR's research to make xenomorphs ties it to Chaos Canon and does us some good too. Invariably, we will catch grief because we are not portraying them in the light they would like to be in. But, what is written is written.

I'll trundle over to the Pre-Sub asap. I like the idea of making the Xenomorphs a trumped up rhak-skuri. You alchemize and weaponize those things and you don't really need a lot of them, they'll be terrifying, and hell to pay when you fight them. So i'd encourage that angle.

I'm also totally down to have the first premiere of them be in the Rebellion on Demonsgate. Be a good way to switch to targeting an NPC since PC opposition is proving... Tricky...

Basically how I'm feeling this:

The Underground is an organisation made up of individuals who settled to fight the good fight against the evils in the galaxy, aka the Sith, the First Order and the like...what would be so damn evil that the Underground would basically up their operations, base it in a sector and effectively concentrate on that threat?

No matter who this opposition is we need to remain solid to our roots. We are a Rebellion in all essentiality, and a Rebellion should be how we stay as we develop. Basically this bad needs to be the power in the system. We need to fear them completely but stand up because it is what we do. Odds need to be against us, and at every turn we need to create situations we loose resource as much as we gain it.

Our bases need to be secret, our strikes agile and calculated. Basically be the Ned Kelly to our Outback. The Rebel Alliance to our Empire etc etc.

Now reading into this I'm enjoying all the ideas and it has got a fantastic ring to it.
In fact having the Qektoth Confederation as the main source of this will create such an awesome basis especially if even with us fighting the story basically permits them into doing something so bad that it turns heads.

They unleash this scientific experiment upon the sector, basically creating vast armies of spawn and xenomorphs that consume as they go. They use them as shock troops to wipe out entire colonies one after the other when they refuse to submit to demands. All this time the Underground are basically trying to work out how to best protect what we can with what we have. The Qektoth aren't actively against the locals and many simply work underneath them because that is what they are told to do. In fact most would probably bare arms if told to against the terrorist Underground movement.

We start making headway, actively recruiting colonies to our cause, begin to establish hidden strike bases and even halt some xenomorph attacks. Then bang. Something real bad happens...
Either the Qektoth unleash the virus upon a major civilisation hub, they reveal more forces then we thought or they really establish a hold over the sector that is effectively a big loss to us. (Losing Rebellion One would be a cool part).

Only once we establish a back foot can we start the slow removal. The Rebellion and finally an epic push against a superior foe.

It is what we do.
We Rebel.

Plus who doesn't want them to experiment on the Ssi-Ru:

So what you are basically saying is that we shouldn't actually put up any 'government' of our own.

Instead we go major over the territories of the Kathol Sector and use said territories as a framework for the concept of our faction. Multiple nations, one big bad who is trying to conquer or experiment or whatnot, and us subverting and fighting against them in the rebellion way.

About right?

I set the table for this in the main thread, in VERY generic terms, should allow other to respond so we can move the story along and get our post counts back up.

Heat exhaustion and an early night - this is a LOT of tags to come back to. Plz to less tags.

I like all of the above. However, if you're going to sub this sucker to Codex, it's gotta be perfect and it can't be now. We fight it as dev for a few threads first.
