Oceana can quickly be summed up as a religious fanatic. She is devoted to the goddess Vahl, an embodiment of the destructive nature of the Dark Side of the Force and a goddess of fire and destruction. She considers the worship of Vahl as well as carrying out what she interprets to be the goddess’ wishes to be her primary purpose in life.
Like all Vahla she is blessed with the Force. Thanks to her heritage that also comes with a penchant for the dark. Oceana never bought into the ideology of the Sith and for the most part stayed away from their kind. Instead she pursued power as an independent dark Force user, some would say Dark Jedi. She rose to power within the Ember of Vahl.
The priestess is quite stern and unforgiving in her faith. Her commitment to the Ember of Vahl is absolute and she expects no less from the Vahla who fall within the Ember cells under her leadership and guidance. Oceana promotes self-sacrifice, selflessness, freedom from worldly needs such as pleasures and possessions. ‘Selflessness’ here is not understood as considering other people’s needs before their own, but rather putting the needs and duties of Vahl before that of the individual. Cult and goddess before oneself, always.
On a personal level she shows her own devotion through the pain and suffering she inflicts upon herself. She shows her faith and devotion through scarring herself. Not only does the mark leave behind proof of her loyalty, but it is in these moments of pain dedicated to her goddess that she feels closest to her. It brings her focus and clarity in a way anyone outside of the Ember of Vahl likely would label deeply disturbed behaviour and severely unhealthy. She supports the act of human sacrifice regardless of whether it is of the willing or unwilling kind, and sees this as one of the primary ways of honouring the goddess and bring Vahl closer to the physical realm. She has gained a reputation for burning people alive.
The fact that she defers to the wisdom of Vahl above all else leaves her an unpredictable and unstable being. Advice of friends, experts or other sentient beings matters little when she has convinced herself that what she is doing is the will of Vahl. She is prone to interpret visions gained through the Force as granted by Vahl. Even dreams, which can be unpredictable, wild and with no substantial connection to the Force or real-life events, she is prone to interpret through the lens of the goddess and act on them. If she dreams about you burning at the stake the next day, well… You’ll probably burn at the stake the next day.
Oceana enjoys long moonlight walks on the beach and burning people alive for the glory of Vahl.

Oceana fits the profile of most Vahla in that she is both tall and slender. Her skin is unusually pale as if the sun was her enemy and she spent her waking moments inside dark buildings. While that is partially true it can also be blamed on physical manifestations of the corruption of the Dark Side. Oceana’s mind is both deranged and corrupt, which is an impression often left upon people who look upon her for the first time. The most noticeable trace of the corruption would be her dark eyes surrounded by a reddish hue, having them appear bloodshot and her sickly.
Her hair is long and ashen white, reaching down to her lower back. The rumour has it that her natural hair colour was black, but the dark depravity of her heart drained the colour from her hair and drew it into itself. Others attribute it to Vahl and considers it a physical sign that Oceana walks with Vahl’s blessing. Interestingly enough, none of these people personally witnessed a time when Oceana’s hair was black, nor do they know anyone who saw it (although there are always those who falsely claim to have been by her side already since then).
Oceana sees the act of scarring herself as a way of showing her devotion to her goddess. As such her body is a canvas which has a slowly but steadily decreasing amount of free space left. Though it is not often something that will be noted on as she wears long-sleeved robes for the most time, it is hard to find a clean spot on her arms that have not been in some way scarred. The marks most easily spotted are the ones she has left on her face, in the shape of symmetrically drawn symbols on her forehead, and both cheeks. A line also imprints itself on the bridge of her nose and right below her lower lip in a vertical line. In essence, these are her facial scar-tattoos.
COMBAT INFORMATION

Oceana is a capable fighter who has gained a mastery level of understanding of the Force. Even so combat is far from her preferred field. While capable of unleashing her dark powers on the enemies of Vahl, she much prefers using her powers to manipulate those around her, seek guidance, and set ablaze the non-believers brought to her to be sacrificed for the glory of Vahl.
When she is forced to fight, however, her approach is largely Force-focused. She will seek to dominate her enemies through her talent for pyrokinesis and telekinesis at a distance, rather than get all up-close and personal. Should that fail, however, she falls back on her last resort which is to channel the Dark Side and lose herself to battle with her lightsaber and Juyo fighting style. This is the point in battle when she will be at her most unstable and unpredictable, surrendering her mind to the darkness and the hands of Vahl
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Oceana was born into a pure blooded Vahla family. Both parents were affiliated with the Ember of Vahl, although her father was the most religious of the two. Her father raised her with the level of discipline most normal families would label as abusive. He certainly educated her about discipline and hard work. Oceana suffered much and withdrew into herself, but eventually her suffering became her solace and her power. It was in those moments that she felt alone with Vahl, when she could hear the voices most clearly. And it didn’t hurt that it allowed the Dark Side of the Force to flow through her much more easily this way.
Her upbringing saw to it that she led a relatively obscure life. She was never really at the head of armies or a bounty hunter to be feared. She rose within the ranks of the Ember of Vahl with few exploits and campaigns outside of it to her name. As she gained in influence and power she continued the trend by sending people out to do her work for her. But their prisoners of war, unwilling converts and heretics alike were brought before her. She saw to it personally that they received the judgement they deserved. The times when she did become personally involved out in the field her presence mattered a great deal. The effectiveness of the Ember’s efforts grew, and the fear and unease of their opposition multiplied. The fact that she came as a mostly unknown figure to those outside of their Dark Side cult led to her for the longest time not being known by her own name, but rather by nicknames such as ‘the Torch of Vahl’. It was a nickname she earned, as her preferred methods usually would involve a baptism of fire for the non-believers. Her enemies were set ablaze by the Torch of Vahl.
Eventually she became one of the six priests and priestesses known as the Chosen of Vahl. They were the central coven who governed the Ember of Vahl. As a priestess Oceana would consult with Vahl using her farseeing ability, interpret omens and work with the other five to make policies for the Vahla. Her ability to to receive visions through the Force along with her never faltering devotion to Vahl qualified her for this role. Her own stern and unforgiving devotion entrenched itself. She viewed her position of authority as proof that Vahl approved of her methods, and if anything she became a more ruthless practitioner of them for it.
Oceana gained a following herself, in part thanks to her position as Chosen of Vahl, but also through the religious zeal and conviction she carried herself with. She has a few Vahla cells answering to her as well as her own cell growing quite competent and large compared to the average. The priestess ensured that rituals were appropriately carried out and without fail. For the longest time she has been drifting, travelling the Galaxy and establishing Ember cells. She also made a point of visiting already established ones to offer them her guidance and strengthen them. When needed she would punish them for their lax behaviour, and sometimes she would give them a new and strong purpose. Although she has a personal (albeit unspoken) preference for feeling the earth beneath her feet, she can be found more and more on the Migrant Fleet.
