Old Discussion Revisited - Rank Titles/Tags

As many of you recall, there was once a glorious time when Templar Aspirant, Templar Knight, and Templar Master could be requested from staff like any other rank title. However, that came to an end and we found ourselves with a slight identity challenge. As opposed to appearing as a single, unified body through our Templar tags, we had some grab Sith, some grab Jedi, etc etc etc.

Well, I'd like to re-open the discussion on our tag situation and make a faction-wide decision. As it was originally suggested, I'd like to motion that we place the Templar Order or Templar Aspirant/Knight/Master tags in our signature and utilize the Neutral or Rogue. My reasoning for this is a little phenomena known as "tag-based metagaming". It occurs whenever someone gets an opinion of an Order as a whole by seeing a few Sith/Jedi tags floating about or by how they immediately identity your character as Dark/Light IC through a glance at the tag. Not much we can do about the meta, aside from taking away the source.

So, what do you guys think? Can we all get on board with this? Do you have alternate ideas? I'm all ears and would love to hear everyone's thoughts on the subject.

There are enough of us that there really should be those Templar tags.

That said, I think almost every Templar already uses the neutral/rogue already, but this thread probably helps to solidify the norm.

As the dude who does that thing with the Templars. I'd say that you're "Force leaning" have no ruddy place within the kick ass halls of the Templars. Get dem tags back.

As I remember, the Templar tags were removed because they were... well, pointless. They were restricting.

Look at it like that:

Jedi tags can basically be used by all Lightsiders
Sith tags - all Darksiders
Rogue tags - all... rogue characters
Neutral tags - basically everybody
Dark Jedi tags - well... this one is canon, so it can stay, though I do admit that in my opinion, it's a pointless tag.
Initiate-Spellweaver-Elder tags - all magical Force-Users

Yet Templar tags would be only used by the members of the Templar Order. While I do agree that we have many members, I think Templar tags should not come back.

Anyways, I remain neutral in this discussion.

Your memory is incorrect.

The Templar Tags were removed due to a certain faction's pestering the ever-loving kark outta Tef for their own unique FU tags only a week after going major, then accused him of favoritism. This prompted the motion to downsize, in which the Templar tags, in addition to AE's Shadow tags were weighed against the witches.

And, well, when you've got a bunch of dead alts using Witch tags, the number beats who we had wearing Templar tags at that point in time and we lost them.

There wasn't anything "pointless" or "restricting" about them. We did the grunt work to get them as a faction. We did the check ins. We went through the scrutiny/staff examination to make sure that this order wasn't just a flash in the pan. We basically pushed a massive boulder up a mountain and succeeded, then got our tags as a reward.

So, should they come back? I think so. Will they come back? Nope, #TyrannyReigns

So, that said, everyone use Neutral/Rogue tags if you're a Templar. [/rant]

Then thank you for correcting me. :)

Anyways, my opinion on these tags remains unchanged. They are only for a bunch of people. Even though most of the times, your faction (I don't consider myself as a member of CIS) has the best story and concept and you really work towards it, Templar tag should remain in the signature (my opinion, again), just like all the other tags which were removed. Or otherwise, Tef should bring all the former ones back and make the new ones. Because equality.

Though whatever, there's no 'equality' in #TyrannyReigns.

Now, I'm all for some of the tag removals that Tef made. Like the race/species ones. In SW, there's like 10 bazillion races to choose from and it would have gotten a little out of hand there. Plus, six different nobility tags, three different political tags, etc etc etc. I get that consolidation was called for, but I still disagree that the FU tags had to be axed.

But, what am I gonna do? I just RP here XD

That said, since the former option is out of our reach, we'll make due with what we have. Having the Templar tags in the system gave us an easily accessible form of unity and identity; and we can do the same through uniform tag selections (Neutral/Rogue), wearing the CIS tag, and having the Templar ranks in our sig.

*gets off soapbox*

Sith tags - all Darksiders
Wrong.
Not all Dark Siders are Sith. All Sith are Dark Siders.

All in the same, I would -not- by any length call all Light Side Force wielders Jedi. Jedi follow a certain... religion if you will, a specific code of conduct.

These two tags are absolutely targeted towards a specific group, so saying ours aren't as important because they target us is invalid. We don't get ours simply because it's not of canon and once we get ours, everyone else is going to queen about how they deserve to get theirs.

If you want to really go the all-encompassing route, you would call non-Jedi Light Siders Rogue and non-Sith Dark Siders Dark Jedi (or Rogue as well).
