Old Faces

Elizabeth shook her head.

She wished she could have told her friend differently, but she just hadn't had the time. Shisa was really one of the only people that she could actually trust and she'd only just arrived. That meant for the past few months she'd been working on all of this on her own. The difficulty of that was enormous, and though there were a few others who were at least competent, it wasn't the same. Elizabeth had fallen behind, unable to do everything she needed to.

"There's been other business." Like that of staying alive. "So far I've just been struggling to maintain what I already have."

It helped that Circuit hadn't really expanded anywhere yet, just defended what it already had.

She shifted her weight within the chair. She knew that Shisa wouldn't like the answer she'd been given, but right now they just had to work with what they had. Hopefully her enforcer would be able to grow their manpower, at least a little bit anyway. "We're basically starting from scratch, plus what I brought."

The cig stopped moving around her mouth, green eyes hardening. Shisa puffed smoke out of her nostrils, rolling her gaze skyward.

“Course we are,” she smacked her lips, ashing the laserbrain on the floor. “Always gotta do everything myself, eh?” Tense shoulders shrugged beneath the heavy jacket, and Thalvi smeared the cooling ash with the tip of her boot.

“Fine. Gimme a couple of the folks you brought with, and I’ll get us started on this.” Red canted her head to the side, considering. “Three or four should be enough for now. Don’t need too many eyes on me first day.”

No doubt that would change as soon as the local thugs started realizing on whose payroll she was. And then – then, things would really get interesting.

Yeah.

"Don't take any from the doors." Elizabeth warned simply.

Circuit itself was safe, but only because the guards at the door checked weapons and made damn well sure that it stayed that way. The moment something change at the doors was the moment Circuit might encounter some problems. She shifted slightly.

"Take them from anywhere else." She couldn't stress this enough. "Not from the doors."

Above everything else they had to make sure that Circuit retained it's reputation for safety. Right now the only thing she had that was of value to Nar Shaddaa was the fact that Circuit was seen as a safe negotiation place. Criminals, gangs, and even pirates could come here without worrying about getting shot.

The Underlord shifted in her chair. "I have a few slicers on the payroll too."

Not very helpful for becoming soldiers, but maybe something else. "They can help you find names of people who would be...inclined to work for us."

Shisa nodded, absent, as she ran scenarios behind her far-away eyes. Not that Castille could tell much, with the psychedelic smoke curling around her head in a thousand blinking colors of the club.

“Noted,” she mouthed around the cigarette, ignoring the inch of ash balancing precariously at its tip.

“Gimme their contacts then, and I’ll get to work.” Thalvi shrugged, finally pinching the butt out of her mouth and squashing it into the cup next to its predecessor. “Not much use standin’ around here, am I?”

She sniffled, tapping her chin. “Watcha you gonna do, Liz?”

Quick, dirty smile flashed after that. She rolled the name around her mouth. Decided she liked it.

Liz.

"I." She began with a frown.

What would she do?

There was still so much that needed to be attended to at Circuit. The club was running very well as of late, but they still had to deal with suppliers, customers, negotiating with other gangs, and that wasn't even to mention speaking to the VIP's that showed up at the club.

Everything was complex and difficult, something she hadn't really counted on. A part of her had thought this would be as easy as some of the other things she'd done, it was a club after all and not an entire syndicate. Still, things needed doing, and she couldn't exactly ignore them. "Have some guests to attend to."

The Underlord finished finally.

"Those that will bring us the influence we require." Hopefully anyway. "As long as we bribe them anyway."

The soft tap of the smushed cup against her thigh was the only sound she made in a long time. Finally: “Okay. Night’s still young, so I’ll… just get started, yeah?”

Shisa puffed out a little smoke ring at Elizabeth. Her grin didn’t look quite right. Not yet.

“You have fun bribin’ people, Castille,” she murmured, tipping her head at the Underlord before she headed downstairs again. A couple nods along the way to the milling guards – by the time she was out the door, Shisa Thalvi was accompanied by a pair trandoshan and a zeltron.
Nobody tried to stand in their way.
