Oh god galactic politics, my head is still reeling from Episode I

I agree with what the others says; If we try to take the weapon, militarily we will lose a lot of ships and troops fending off the other factions seeking to destroy it, politically like what was stated we'd become enemies of the other factions and a cold war might even begin between the light sided factions and us.

If we attempt to destroy the weapon, I still believe we should get some information regarding it as this is no bloody time to be modest, the other factions would do the same. But there, if we attempt to destroy it, we wouldn't lose additional forces in the ensuring skirmish with the other factions, and politically we'd be rather golden for a dark sided faction, and as someone said, cement our rule as Galactic Leader.

I think our best case scenario might envolve "giving up" the superweapon (We might be able to build something with that information, perhaps a flagship.), to increase relations and whatever political stuff you guys have, I'm only a navy captain don't listen to me.

If we were to outright try to take the superweapon for ourselves, it would likely be just us against a united front of Mandalorians, GA, whatever's left of the GR, Silver Sanctum, etc.

Hmmmmm. Perhaps it wouldn't be so wise at this stage in our faction's life haha.

Yeah I support holding hands with the GA and singing kumbayah, while covertly investigating the weapon for our own benefit.

I think secretly gathering information, data and plans on the weapon and its parts (engine, power source ect) to further our own technology may help us better long term than an outwards attempt to take it for our own. We could even offer to send scientists and engineers to the Sith to help speed up the weapons completion in order to destroy our enemies fleets, while siphoning valuable plans and tech to our own smaller scale schemes (like newer, even more OP destroyers). In addition, we could offer our advanced ships and men to the 'good guys' alliance on the condition they send their own ships first to act as a shield for our less numerous, technologically and more powerful superior vessels and then betray them and obliterate them when their forces are depleted fighting the Sith.

I like the general premise, though am wary of having the wrath of the united forces of GA, Mandos, Silver Sanctum turn on us if we were to betray them.

I very much like [member="Boo Chiyo"]'s analogy of us being like the Soviets in WW2.

While remaining on the sidelines and making use of the others being embroiled in a war, distracting them from our own activities, could be a sound strategy... Where's the fun in that? I think our faction should try to take a leading role in all site-wide events, our galactic presence should be known!

Mobilise the fleet, arm the stormtroopers and deploy the Ren.
The First Order should answer this threat with a show of pure military might, prove we are efficient and effective.

If that means aligning with the Galactic Alliance then so be it, they will see our true power when countless Star Destroyers enter the system waiving signals of assistance.

I agree, and I shall be accompanying our Grand Moff as well, along with my NPC Admiral Fiolette Yvarro and her 7th Fleet.

The Soviets weren't Allies till near the end of the war.

If asked who they are during this event, would a Knight of Ren say they are a Knight of Ren, or this is a thing kept secret, and they would simply say they are with the First Order?

I am for destroying the weapon and helping out the 'good' factions. This weapon threatens the FO for as long as it exists - we cannot allow that. While seizing the superweapon for the FO sounds like something we should do, I don't think it's a good idea in the long run. We're better off destroying it.

If we can't control it, neither will anyone else.

Superweapons usually fire only once - and after revealing their destructive potential and giving away their position, the rest of the galaxy rushes to destroy them. Just look at Death Stars, Starkiller, all other plot devices to unite the galaxy. The moment we wrestle the weapon from the rogue Sith, we become the next target of all other factions. Not worth it imho.

Though that is not to say we won't try to make the best of it. If we can discreetly scan the weapon or take its crucial components, at least partially, and use that to develop a smaller and less powerful version, we should go for it :)
This sums up my position.

I think we have reached an agreement as a faction. We will destroy the superweapon, if only for the simple reason that we don't want to see it end up in the hands of our enemies.

Also, I think at this point in Star Wars canon it's safe to say that anyone suggesting a superweapon as a viable strategy ought to be laughed out of the Imperial war room. It's been tried, not once, not twice, but three times... each time with catastrophic results. The Empire just doesn't seem to do well when they invest all their energy and manpower into one superweapon which, if destroyed, takes out all of said energy and manpower.

In other words, our iteration of the First Order, unlike the movies, is not led by retards. :)

I'd be open about it. The existence of the Ren is not a secret, our ways are. So long as we're not inviting people back to chill at our temples and check out our awesome artifacts we're not breaking the mystique.
