On unstable ground (Republic Dominion of Mimban)

Kian Karr stood on the bridge of the Gnost Dural and watched as the hyperspace lines ahead of him went back to normal and the planet of Mimban came into view in front of him. It was a rather mysterious planet, covered in thick vegetation, fog covered swamps, and a number of vicious animals. Kian nodded to the communications officer sitting to his left and the man patched Kian in to the others present.

"This is Jedi Master Kian Karr." Kian said, the message going out to the task force of Jedi Masters and Knights that had been brought together in order to resolve the issues on Mimban and bring it back into the Republic fold.

"Today we secure Mimban for the Galactic Republic. In order to do this, there is a need for a number of issues to be resolved." Kian said and gave the signal for the dossier on the operation to be sent to those involved in the operation.

"First and foremost, there has been a cold war brewing between the native populations of Mimbanites and Coway. This cold war has escalated and now both groups are on the verge of open warfare. A delegation is needed to try and resolve the situation peacefully. We must avoid bloodshed at any cost!"

"Second, due to shifting weather patterns, a large cavern system in the north of the planet is in danger of collapsing. While this is a natural issue that wouldn't normally draw our attention, it is a rich archaeological site of the Thrella, a sentient species that once inhabited the planet and is now extinct. It would be a grevious injustice to allow these artifacts to be lost."

"Finally, the natives have spoken of a darkness brewing within the Temple of Pomojema. Several groups have gone in to investigate.....and they have vanished without a trace." Kian said clasping his hands behind his back. This was the news that concerned him the most. "I will be leading a task force into the temple in the hopes of finding those that have gone in before us and hopefully discovering what has happened."

"Remember that you serve the Republic and we are here to help." Kian said smiling behind his mask. "Do good!" Kian added and cut the transmission.

OBJECTIVES:
(1) Negotiate a peace between Mimbanites and Coway.
(2) Save the relics of the Thrella
(3) Investigate Temple of Pomojema

As with all Dominions, these objectives are available to be pursued but you may wish to do something else! Feel free and have fun!!

Objective 2

Labooda was present on the bridge of the Venator class ship - Affinity when the transmission was released by her fellow Master, and High Councilor, [member="Kian Karr"] . She had been asked to be apart of a task force to be dispatched to Mimban, a world that was once upon a time under Republic control. She willingly chose to further her pursuits in the area of knowledge and chose to participate in the second objective presented to them.

Not much was known of the Thrella, there wasn't even much to be found within the Archives. The only significant thing that stood out was the fact that they were extinct. This only made it twice as more necessary to go in and preserve what was left behind. It wasn't long before she found herself on transport to the planet, they'd been traveling for some time and had just recently arrived out of hyperspace.

Her view when from viewing the large world that kept its outer green glow, to approaching the atmosphere and preparing to land. Once entering the atmosphere she could see the moisture begin to form on the windows of the ship. The planet was humid at most, especially in the swamp areas that covered this entire section of the world in a dense fog.

She had only a few Republic soldiers with her. Nothing too major, she wasn't there to lead a campaign, but there was a need for a commando or two when going into unknown areas. The turbulence wasn't as difficult as she thought, and they had found themselves on ground in no time; a smooth ride. When those doors opened, there was a sudden rush of jungle air. It was thick, and grimy. It was expected.

Figure I'll set this right before the rebel storyline to help out a bit. Love for anyone to join me on objective three.

Objective Three

Three days. That was how long Cyril had to wait until his contact could secure safe passage to Balmorra. Any move toward Sith space beforehand would likely result in his untimely demise - he was not in possession of a stealth ship like [member="Kian Karr"]. His mother had advised meditation on their homeworld of Naboo, but the wait proved too much for the errant Jedi Master. He needed to do something proactive, and if he could assist the Republic here while he still had the time, all the better.

He was aboard his own ship, an old retrofitted Belbulab designed to be unspectacular. He hadn't the time nor the desire to put himself on one of the Republic's vessels - with the Belbulab, he could move as he needed. The drawback being that he flew alone. Currently, that isolation served him well. The silver starfighter cut through the planet's atmosphere, and Cyril sought to center himself.

He was a wall. An unbreakable barrier that the permeations of the Dark Side could no longer touch. The force's will guided every action he took, and that was why he had volunteered to come to this temple, to see to this great darkness spoken of in whispers. It was exactly the sort of thing Cyril specialized in dealing with, whether that be apparitions of the dead, wayward spirits, or adepts of the Bogan, he would tackle the issue in headlong.

The Belbulab set itself down some thirty meters beyond the temple in a small clearing. Cyril drew his cowl over his head, and keyed his comm as the cockpit hissed open.

"This is Grayson. I've arrived at the temple. I'll report in on whatever this darkness is as soon as I come across it." He snapped into the Fleet-Comm. He made sure his ship was transmitting his location, and fell down to the forest floor.

A moment of are took over him as his boots sunk into the mud. The temple was a large structure that looked to have been made of obsidian. Its great spires rose above the canopy, as if to show that no matter the decay of age, the temple would always be above the forest.

He was overthinking it all, but the thought was still something of relative interest to mull over as he began the long march to the temple steps.

Dropping out of hyperspace near the orbit of Mimban, Sera's scanners aboard her A-Type starfighter picked up little activity. It seemed that anyone who had already broken hyperlane travel had descended to the planet below. It was an odd feeling, the planet being encircled by Republic influence, and having been a Republic world prior to the Netherworld, yet seemingly lost to its' control. Regardless, the powers that be had seen fit to deny its' return to the Republic. Fate was a cruel villain, one she was familiar with all too well at this stage of her life. Now 27, the Jedi Master from Cambria was dispatched to the planet to investigate the temple Pomojema.

Little was known about the temple itself, aside from a few minor skirmishes and the eerie, dark feel of the place, given its' sacrificial history, and foreboding architecture. As her ship broke through the atmosphere to begin the landing sequence near the outskirts of the temple, nearest a suitable landing zone her comm picked up a message from [member="Cyril Grayson"]. Immediately after she returned the hail, alerting him to her presence.

"Grayson, this is Seraphina. I'm on approach now, I should be at the temple gates within the next ten minutes. Hold up and we'll go together if you are not already inside."

After sending the transmission, Kian had quickly made his way toward Dorin's Hope, his personnel J-1 Interceptor and had disembarked on the way to the planets surface. As he did so he received word from [member="Cyril Grayson"], followed by [member="Seraphina Shel'tah"] that they were at the or near the temple and ready to begin the investigation inside. Kian was pleased to hear that they would both be there, as he was still unsure of what lay inside the depths of the temple.

"This is Kian Karr, enroute to the temple. I'll be rendezvousing with you both shortly." Kian said as he cut through the atmosphere and his ship dropped down above the green foliage of the jungles. Kian had did some digging into the temple's history while planning the excursion. It certainly had tied to the force, and was the location of the first duel between the Sith Lord Darth Vadar and the young Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker. It had also been the home of the famous Kaiburr crystal which was now long gone from the planet.

Setting the interceptor down not far from the temple, Kian disembarked and began to make his way toward the temple entrance. He unclipped his lightsaber as he did and held it, unignited, in his grasp. He had read of the animals on this planet and knew that it was best to be cautious....both of the animals and the ground itself, as it had a habit of swallowing up unsuspecting individuals.

Corvus was half way between two planets with long names and even less understandable reasons for being at either - other than it was her duty - when she received the coded message to head to Mimban.

She knew the Republic had received many petitions from its Government and people to join it since the Galactic Event and so she deduced that finally a decision had been made and she was to assist in any way she could. Mimban, formerly known as Circarpous V, was formerly the home of the Thrella. Now extinct, she'd been asked to help recover some relics from an archaeological site before a weather front moved in and destroyed them. She'd received word that an old friend Veino Garn was heading there and reports suggested an even older friend whom she only recently met once more was also going to the same site.

It was not a particularly exciting planet. It was covered in a permanent mist - to the point that day and night were hard to distinguish and it was also prone to energy storms. Corvus really did not like energy storms. Seriously, she really, really, really didn't like them.

From an historian's perspective, it was a good planet. There was the Battle of Mimban of course, it was a source of thaissen crystals, the Kaliburr crystal came from here - and so it was the scene of a famous father and son duel where junior bested senior - although he needed Obi-Wan's spirit to accomplish it of course.

So she headed for the surface and wondered who'd get there first.

[member="Veino Garn"] | [member="Shmi Labooda"]

Mimban returning to the Republic. Please assist transfer. Assist in excavating and preserving artifacts.

The message flickered again and again through his comlink. Interesting. Been awhile since he'd gotten anything on this channel from someone in the Republic. For all intents and purposes, Veino had vanished into the galaxy. It had been on purpose as well. He had an old enemy to evade and then lay a trap for. But nothing had gone as planned and he had hit detour after detour and the trail had gone cold.

So he set course for Mimban and leaned back in his chair as the ship jumped into hypserpace, watching as everything streamed by. It was peaceful here, quiet, and relatively safe to unwind, even for an empath. So he journeyed across the stars before dropping out of hyperspace above Mimban. He checked the comm chatter and guided his ship down towards the planet. It seemed [member="Corvus Raaf"] would at the excavation as well as another Jedi Master he had never heard of or met before. So that would be interesting.

"This is Veino Garn, inbound to the cave systems. Weather seems a bit rough, but I'll probably make it through. If not, come get me." He gave a half-grin and then gritted his teeth as he plunged the ship into the atmosphere. This would be unpleasant.

The ship jolted and rocked back and forth, randomly dropping and popping back up. Visibility was poor. But eventually, he got the ship down on solid ground. He slumped in his chair. He hated flying. Hitchhiking was better.

"Pleased to have you both with me." Cyril replied to [member="Kian Karr"] and [member="Seraphina"] She'tah. It was a private comfort to have two other Jedi Masters accompanying him into this foreboding place. He would be lying if he said he was not afraid. Dark places such as this never had anything good to give, though someone needed to make sure their darkness did not spread. And so, Cyril set his fear aside, locked it in a box for later, and approached the temple. He only came to a halt when he halt the familiar presence of Kian nearby.

He paused halfway down the path, turned on the Kel Dor and offered a warm smile and a wave.

"Hey Kian." He greeted casually. "Feeling something...off about this place. Whatever the locals have said, I think it might be true." He breathed a heavy sigh, and gazed up at the temple spires.

"Seraphina should be here any second. We'll have a bathrobe party, scare the nasty spirits away. Something like that."

The ship landed shortly after her communication was sent to [member="Cyril Grayson"], and as she touched down on to the surface of the planet she heard [member="Kian Karr"] radio in as well. A party of the masters it seems! Splendid! Though the mission would be the focus, and the uncovering of the truth here at the temple, she was just as eager to meet a new face, one she wasn't entirely familiar with, whereas she had already trained under Kian and served alongside him a few times.

Once the landing gear was deployed and the ship was secured Sera made her way toward the temple, its' massive architecture towering above a number of the trees on the horizon. It would take her but 5 minutes to navigate her way through the semi-dense forest surrounding the structure. Her eyes caught sight of both Kian and Cyril towards the staircase as she approached quietly and quickly. Her leather armor made it easy to sneak about, just as any robes might, and yet provided both flexibility that she needed to compliment her combat style, and protection against terrible foes.

Her head tipped towards each of them as she reached speaking distance, acknowledging the pair already waiting. "Hello there..." A small shiver ran up her back, the tell-tale sign of darkness creeping from within. "I can sense a terrible darkness here. Best we not get separated."

Objective One

As far as he knew, Varus was flying solo on this portion of the mission, which was entirely diplomatic in nature. He was to meet with the some of the native clan leaders of both the Mimbanites and the Coway to make sure that their little disagreement didn't end in bloodshed. It was a rather unusual mission for him to be tasked with, but he supposed that some of the Masters were trying to rear him for promotion or perhaps broaden his area of expertise in order to have him stand as a political threat, and not just a righteous executioner.

He wasn't sure how much he liked the sound of being taught the ways of peaceful negotiation any more then he liked the sound of or agreed with any forthcoming promotion. He had already made up his mind that he was their saber and not their quill, though he really had no control over such things in the end. As a Jedi he had agreed to the direction of the Masters, and thankfully most of them had aligned with his agenda as a warrior of peace and prosperity, but perhaps there was a more influential figure pulling the strings now.

Either way, a native messenger had been sent to either clan leader to warn them that he was coming, and they had responded peacefully enough, although the Coway elders had gathered and considered eating this native, human messenger that had wondered so near by. He had returned unscathed, however, and now it was Varus who would take his place and venture down to the planet to discuss the growing turbulence between the two primitive races of humanoids.

From the hangar of the ship a single Delta-7 Aethersprite-class light interceptor raised up, slowly adjusted direction, and darted from the safety of the ship in the direction of Mimban.

[Post=2/20]

As she hit the wall of mist, she received a new message – this time on her personal device. The one she shared with her sister. She smiled. What were the odds Corvus would be able to visit an archaeological site without company?

She responded immediately.

‘I’d be glad of the company. Let me know when you arrive and I’ll come and find you. I was joining another party but the site is big enough for us not to get in each other’s way. So, depending on who gets here first, I may link up with you directly or make my excuses from the group I’m with and we can rescue whatever we can – although I warn you the Kaliburr crystal has most likely long gone!

Not much longer before the eldest Raaf can arrive without all this subterfuge.

Corvy’

In a way she felt she was letting the others down but then realised that Veino and Shmi were both known to her but not each other. It would be a chance for them both to get to acquaint themselves.

Sanya Val Lerium

Neutral, Queen of Her people, Neko
it took several days to travel at a moments notice, and even then it was still slow progress to come for half way across the galaxy. as the Inquisition Gunship came into orbit of mimban the scanners already picked up the ships of those she knew.

Sanya dropped her ship from orbit to the planets atmosphere making a quick decent to the planet surface. She quickly scanned the area to find a good place to sent down, the scanner revealed a large spot next to one of the ship, still un able to determine which it was. turning the Gunship in that direction it was only moments before Sanya was at the place.

The ships gear dropped down as it touched the ground, she cut the engine's soon turning everything silent, Sanya stood from her chair clipping her belt around her waist and pulling her hood over her head. she looked to her left looking at the A-type steamship 'must be Sera's' Sanya made her way into the back of the Ship to a control panel on the back wall of the ship. she open the back ramp to the ship and dropped down the underneath cargo compartment to drop her speeder, if sanya was going to catch up this was the only way.

she got into the speeder powering it up, and reached out with the force to see where they had gone too. only able to make out three signatures two that was familiar. she turned on the mini holo on the dashboard of the speeder and open a channel between her and the two she knew "Kian, Sera come in. I'm on my way to your positions now and will take me around fifteen minutes." Sanya then set the throttle to full enroute to the temple they had gone too.

Her group had been walking for sometime, the helmets of the commandos were moist for the environment, and her robes felt groggy. Three bodies, figures, formed in the cloud of mist. This was only prior to them becoming the full bodies of members of the Republic; the Jedi and the commandos. She stopped in her tracks...and she looked don at the ground. She squinted her eyes for a second, and then crouched down.

"What we do know is that these artifacts are more than likely underground...Most of their civilizations were built below ground..." she said before expanding her senses. She closed her eyes completely and reached out with every inch of her expansive mind. From her finger tips grew roots, of the Force, that stretched and grew at a rapid rate to stretch across the land before them. In her mind flashed different areas, she heard running water, and echoes from deep below. She picked up a trail.

"Theres a cavern beneath us...it feels massive. The entrance shouldn't be to far from her. We should keep moving." she said pulling out her personal device she used to communicate with the others; commlink.

"Masters Garn and Raaf, It seems we have come pretty close to the site. I look forward to meeting up with one or both of you. See you soon."

Objective 3

The green glow of his lightsaber illuminated the halls deep within the ancient temple. Its low hum and the inconsistent Jedi chatter from the com that hung around his neck some of the only things keeping him sane. He had volunteered to come with an earlier party...But once they reached far enough inside the temple everything began to fall apart.

The Dark Side was strong here for some reason. Dark whisps hung in the air like a fog, bringing with it the whispers of the damned. He didn't know how long he had been here, but the maddened Knights he was sent with had become like rabid dogs and eliminated his rations. Luckily for him, the Force was enough to sustain him, at least for a time.

Something scurried by. On reflex from a lifetime fighting on the battlefield he swung his green blade, burning a scar into the stone surface.

Kian glanced at Cyril and Sera and then back at the steps ascending toward the dark opening of the temple. Kian agreed with them both, the feeling of the darkness was almost sickening to Kian.

"Nasty spirits might be the least of our worries." Kian said smiling behind his mask, though the smile wasn't genuine. The rumors about this place was what had brought Kian to Mimban and he had come here with a single goal in mind.....root out the darkness and eradicate it. Kian's hand lightly touched the lightsaber on his hip made from the remains of Jedi Master Plo Koon's lightsaber. Taking a deep breath in and holding it for a second, Kian turned back toward the two as he let it out.

"We need to be on our guard." Kian said starting to ascend the steps. "We heard about this place a while back." Kian admitted, filling them in on why he was concerned about it. "The last team that went in was accompanied by a Jedi Master named [member="Turin Val Kur"]." Kian said coming to the entrance of the temple and feeling a cold chill going down his spine.

"We lost contact almost immediately," Kian said turning back towards the others, "It isn't like him." Kian added. He'd sent Soms into dangerous situations on numerous occasions and had trusted him with the assignment. It was funny how the missions that you aren't overly worried about are the ones that typically catch you off guard.

(([member="Sanya Val Lerium"] - Corvus is with a different group than Sera and myself. Sera, myself, and Cyril are on objective 3, Corvus is on objective 2 with Veino and Shmi.))

Cyril followed the Kel Dor silently up the steps. Every few feet he shot [member="Seraphina Shel'tah"] a look. He didn't know the woman, but he knew of her. It was his business to know what Jedi were prominent as of late, and who was not. He was aware of the basic facts, just as he was on the Grandmaster, a woman who had been a Padawan during his heyday. He knew very few of this newer generation of Jedi Knights on a personal note, but they had earned their titles all the same. Respect would always be given.

"You know the most effective way to scope out a giant abandoned temple is to split up. We'll cover even more ground without the weight of our lightsabers." Cyril replied with a tinge of playful sarcasm. "Screaming also helps. It's in all the holo did after all, can't deny the experts."

He tapped the single lightsaber at his side, and grimaced at the all-too-familiar whir of his right arm. He was used to the cybernetics now, but the sound of the servos moving about still made him uncomfortable. He looked to [member="Kian Karr"] as they reached the top of the steps, and set his lightsaber in the palm of his hand, just in case.

"We should probably focus on finding the [member="Turin Val Kur"] gentleman first. As curious as I am about the going ons of this place, I think bringing people home is more important." He mused quietly, eyeing the entrance.

"First off the cliff is the first back up again, I suppose." He stared up at the entrance, lifted his shoulders in a slight shrug, and walked cautiously into the temple.

Corvus landed and was disappointed to see that where she was, the mist went all the way to the ground. But at least she landed in one piece.

Stepping out of her ship, she headed in the general direction of the coordinates on her datapad. Within minutes she was damp through. In part due to the mist and also because of the humidity. It was oppressive.

It was then she realised that Master Labooda was already there, as she received the simple but informative message. She was close to the site.

Out of habit, Corvus glanced up to see if her sister’s ship was landing. Of course she could see nothing – but her Force Bond told her she had not yet landed and so she pressed on. If she understood the size of the site and its layout, she could better understand how they could split into two groups – thus allowing her to spend time with her sister. And in a matter of days or at most weeks, these meetings would not need to be secretive. Corvus beamed at the thought, wiped her borw, and set off again.

Post - 1/20

She had kept the stygium cloaking device of her Sicarius infiltrator active once she entered the system, her Force presence shrunken down to a pinprick to avoid detection by anyone on the surface except for one person. She gotten Corvus's return message when she had offered to help explore Mimban, a world full of history. The small quip about the Kaiburr crystal being long gone made her smile a bit, and as she landed her ship within the swirling mist, she sent a small little wave over their sisterly bond that she had arrived.

Dressed in a red shirt and black skirt this time, she was wearing Sith colors, but she liked the outfit too much to not wear it and it fit with the glasses she wore. Plus it gave her more mobility than robes ever would. Throwing her satchel that contained her lightsaber and observation equipment over her shoulder, making sure her shoto was in her back belt holster, she debated about bringing her last toy. Deciding why not, she picked up the bracer that contained her hidden blade and slid it on.

Lowering the ramp of her ship, she walked down onto the admittedly creepy ground of Mimban, ancient ruins and stone could be barely seen through the mist, but she was more interested in linking up with her sister. Other Jedi would be around, and this would be her real first time interacting with any if it occurred. Moving in the direction where her sister's presence was, she made sure to keep her ship locked up. Too many things were on board that were rare manuscripts or books. One must protect knowledge after all.

Received permission to join this from Corvus, just so everyone knows

Sera nodded to [member="Kian Karr"] as she walked towards the temple entrance along with [member="Cyril Grayson"]. "Let's hope he's still here...And in one piece." She didn't mean for the words to be foreboding, but this place gave her an eerie feeling. The darkness was palpable, and though she didn't so much fear this place, she was more sickened by the feeling it exuded. As they walked she caught sight of Cyril glancing at her a couple of times, but said nothing of it. She wasn't entirely certain of why he kept focusing his eyes on her, but now wasn't the time to really ask.

Though she raised an eye and cast a gaze back to him at his suggestion to split up inside. Separating might find the other Jedi quickly, but it also might land one or all of them in just as much trouble as quickly as the others who ventured inside. She wasn't interested in losing more Jedi, especially if something terrible had befallen the other. "We might find him faster, yes. But if he's dead? Or in trouble? Or if this is a trap? We are stronger as a team than separated. What good is it if we find him and one of us are then killed, captured, or trapped?"

Judging by the tone he had expressed the suggestion, she wasn't sure if he was being sarcastic about the proposal or not, but if he wasn't, she wanted to express her feelings against such an idea as they tread up toward the mouth of the temple.

[4/20]

"I suspect Jedi Grayson was joking." Kian said, his eyes still locked on the dark opening of the temple before him. "And I agree, splitting up should be avoided.....if possible." Kian said, unsure of what awaited them. Kian pulled the dark grey, almost black, lightsaber hilt off of his belt and ignited the blade. The silver blade that sprung from the hilt cast an eerie hew on the temple entrance, but provided enough light for them to see.

Steeling himself, Kian walked into the temple and began to progress into the compound. The darkness that permeated the place was overwhelming but in focusing on the light of Jedi Grayson's and Jedi Shel'tah's force presences, Kian was able to settle his mind against the darkness. Kian had spent some time in places such as this and had come to handle it better than he had when he was a young Knight. The work of the Shadows often put him in places such as this.....and he was very glad that he'd come with others for once.

But he'd sent Jedi Val Kur without such backup. It was a thought that plagued him, but Kian took a deep breath and pushed it aside. He wasn't the first Jedi he'd sent on assignment without much backup and he wouldn't be the last. Nor would feelings of guilt help him now. He needed to be focused in order to deal with the darkness of the temple.

Reaching down to his utility belt, Kian pressed a button on the datapad that hung there. The datapad began to transmit a signal out over the Jedi's secure line. If Jedi Val Kur was still alive and in possession of his datapad, he should receive the transmission. Once they found the man they would hopefully get some answers as to what was happening here.

No sooner had that thought left his mind than Kian felt and saw movement in the shadows to his right, just out of the light cast from his lightsaber. Kian turned toward it and held his saber out in front of him and peered into the darkness.

"We're not alone." Kian said, not taking his eyes off of where he'd seen the movement. They were at a crossroads now, the corridor forming a T as one path went to the left and the other to the right.
