On unstable ground (Republic Dominion of Mimban)

Sanya Val Lerium

Neutral, Queen of Her people, Neko
it hadn't taken long to reach the temple and from the looks some of it was just rubble now but didn't change the feeling of the dark side that seemed to just radiate from the place. Sanya climbed out her speeder and secured her sabers on her belt before walking into the temple. the further she walked into the place the louder the voices of those she knew bounced off the walls echoing. "SERA, KIAN WHERE ARE YOU!" for a brief moment her voice also echoed of the walls quickly getting quieter.

As Sanya continued further into the temple it only started feeling like a labyrinth, it soon got to dark for her to make any detail out of the corridors before her, raising her hand to her visor she turned it on, turning everything into purple hue but atleast she could move freely knowing where she is walking.

the voices remain to get louder now they had to be close, as she made out the twi'leks body shape Sanya was sure it was them. she quicken her pace to catch up to them before feeling a quick tingling sensation down her back, like someone had stroked their hand down her. Sanya spun around to see if anything was there but all that was there was emptiness.

she had managed to catch up to them just hearing Kian clearly in his last words he spoke. "I know that feeling, but just me or dose this place seem off and like where been followed, well besides me trying to find you guys."

Screaming. That was what brought Cyril out of his momentary stupor. Not a scream of terror, rather something of excitement. Names were mentioned. He turned toward the unfamiliar voice, and lofted a brow. He'd never met this woman before - not a surprise really, most of his time was spent in Sith space - but he surmised she was a part of the order. He glanced over toward Kian and Sera for conformation, and lifted his shoulders in a slight shrug.

"Not a moment too late my friend." He said in greeting. "Not fleeing any terrible monsters I hope? I've about had my fill of immoral terrors."

His attention was stolen by [member="Kian Karr"]. The Kel Dor had seen something, though as to what Cyril had no idea. He wasted no time in igniting his own blade, bathing the walls in a soft cyan glow. His fingers shifted over the leather-bound hilt, the familiar ridges of the long cylinder providing him a certain sense of comfort.

"Let's hope whatever it is will be kind enough to say hello before it decapitates one of us." He joked. "Oh, and yes, it was sarcasm. Splitting up, not the best idea, no."

Corvus was aware of her sister’s presence now – and even cloaked, she could sense her true nature, which made her smile all the more. Now if they could only work on Melori.

She was now torn between going forward and linking up with Shmi and holding back and greeting her sister. She decided on the latter. Veino was en route and could keep Master Labooda company for sure.

Corvus wondered about the number of layers she wore now, but also figured that underground it would be a lot cooler, so have to deal with the warm damp air until that point dressed in her full Jedi robes.

And through that very mist, her sister appeared – she sensed her before she saw her and walked forward, ready to give her a hug.

As the mist parted, she could see her sister moving towards her, arms outstretched for a hug. Picking up her pace a bit, a smile starting to tease the corners of her lips, she returned the gesture, hugging her sister close.

"Hi there Corvy, fancy meeting you here in a place like this," Taeli said, a smile now fully formed on her face. "Oh dear Force, it must be stifling wearing those robes in this sort of mugginess. Honestly, we need to change your wardrobe around a bit to suit different environments at least. Full Jedi robes do not a muggy area make."

She was rambling a bit, but she was just glad to be with her sister again. It wouldn't be much longer at all before this could be the norm and in the open, not hidden behind subterfuge and secrecy.

"So what is the objective this time?" she asked. "You mentioned something about trying to find some pieces of knowledge in an ancient temple?"

Jungles Near The Temple
Objective #3

Sweat was the biological response human’s had when they were trying to cool their bodies down, it was fully and completely uncontrollable. Most planets, this response allowed one to cool off even in uncontrollable heat so long as the being in question stayed hydrated. Those worlds Tobias Wraith enjoyed, Wraith still seems weird to call myself that. Reverie was not a luxury he could afford on this world, but it sure was a welcome distraction from what was going on right now. Thoughts of his past, the last few weeks, and why he was down in this jungle started to flash across his mind’s eye.

Anything to get his mind off the damn humidity.

A broad swipe of his BRKR-1 Taserblade, switched off thankfully, served as an impromptu machete. Strapped to his back, the BTI-CR was a moment away from use. On his belt, the BTI-WB Woebringer pistol was also ready. Predators on this world were a real concern, and he wasn’t far enough in his training to have a ligthsaber. He wasn’t concerned that with that matter though, he had survived quite a few battles before escaping the One Sith military.

What harm could a jungle to do him?

The Jackdaw was set down in a clearing a couple of miles away, so a getaway wouldn’t be too tricky. He just had no idea what to expect with the temple he had been sent to explore. Instead, he followed the GPS on his wrist while trying to reach out with his senses like he had been instructed to. Little flickers of life could be felt as he tried to empty the concept of himself, using the empty cup method he had learned from the holocrons. It wasn’t easy, but he was starting to feel all the life in the jungle. Then a sinking thought hit him as he started to see a temple in the distance.

I’m not alone.

As the three continued to wander down the corridors and hallways of the ancient temple, the creeping darkness that was felt grew stronger, and while Kian spoke she could hear the echoing of Sanya's voice bellowing down and against the stone walls, giving away any semblance of secrecy or subtly they may have had. Sera sighed as she turned back, the familiar look of Sanya coming into view. Once she was within clear view she made a sort of hush gestured with her hand and mouth. It certainly didn't help any that Kian had just mentioned that they weren't alone, and that Sanya was not the root cause of his duress.

The Twi'lek had heard a quiet patter of legs on the ground, which sounded as if it came from something that was not a biped. Kian and Cyril's sabers cast a bit of light out into the darkness, but not a sufficient amount to light up the area, and would likely make them an easier target if they couldn't see whatever it was lurking about before it struck. Her hands reached down and slowly gripped the hilt of one of her sabers. The corridors were too narrow for her preferred method of fighting, so unless the temple opened up into a much wider area, she would be forced into Form II to combat anything that may come their way.

"We're not alone, but we're also limited on maneuverability. Whatever this is, I sense there is not just one. Be on your guard. Oh, and Cyril, I apologize, sometimes sarcasm goes over my head."

“Do you know what it is, I’m not sure what I can do with Taeli. Tael? Tae? Eli? T? Nope, I’ll just have to stick to Taeli.”

“Anyway, in simple terms, we’re here to save the relics of the Thrella. And I just know you’re aware of them. A fellow Jedi is already at the site and has identified they are predominantly below ground - so I hope you’ve packed a sweater.” She smiled.

“Anyway, I was wondering if we could possibly find one of the old Thrella wells? Who know what the Coway tribes might have taken for their own but left behind when the miners came? Or we can simply go exploring and see what we can find.”

As they moved off, Corvus couldn't help but continue the banter. "Red and black? Really? And these?" She indicated Taeli's glasses. "Are they new?"

"My friends in college called me Tae, so that one works if you want to call me by that nickname," Taeli laughed. Oh, how she missed this banter, even if she had only seen her sister just a little bit ago. Still, investigating old Thrella temples and trying to find artifacts was too tempting to pass up, plus she might find some thaissen crystals. She was curious about how they worked.

"I'm up for whatever we come across," she continued saying, a large smile on her face. "I'd like to find some thaissen crystals while we are here, I'm curious about how they work and whether they could be adapted into a better Force detection system in case the Sith infiltrate the Republic. Oh, and yes red and black. I just got this outfit and I think it looks really nice."

And she mentioned the glasses . . . now she was off to the races.

"Oh yes! I just actually finished making these," she gushed in excitement. "Liquid crystal display lenses with a scanner that can work for both medical and environmental purposes embedded in the right stem, and a small Holonet transmitter in the left stem. Circuits allow me to stream the information they can send straight to the lenses of my glasses so I get real time access to information. No more humbling with a datapad, I just need to use my eyes to access what I want, although I need to switch between modes with a pressure sensor here, too much information at once and all that. Oh for instance!"

Activating the medical scanner, she scanned her sister for a moment and brought the info up.

"Heightened levels of dopamine, obvious really because we're here together on another adventure, you've suffered several broken bones in the past few weeks that were treated with bacta and still are healing, so you need to be careful with too many falls or tumbles. Your . . . ankle has seen plenty of damage, might want to have surgery done to it to fix that up."

Looking sheepishly at her sister, she grinned and said, "Sorry, I'm rambling and gushing a bit aren't I? We should get exploring."

Jedi Padawan Zylah Dvale dropped out of hyperspace, over Mimban. The J-1 Class Interceptor detached from the hyperdrive ring, and set a course for the planet's surface. The ship wasn't her own private one, rather it was the property of the Jedi Order, granted on loan to her for official Jedi business. Granted, she arrived a little late to the party, but Zylah was here in support of the Republic's agenda on Mimban, in an attempt to have it fall under the Republic's protection, for the good of both parties. Her mission was to investigate the Temple of Pomojema, a location from which there had been several disturbing reports. There was already a task force assigned to this, consisting of Jedi far more experienced than her. Zylah's job was to support it, and aid however she could. If things got too hairy, she'd likely fall more into the background. That being said, with every mission there was a risk, and she was aware there might not be an opportunity to fall back. Regardless, the Arkanian-Human hybrid had volunteered.

She read the landing coordinates provided on her ship's monitor, plotted the codes in, and let the auto-pilot take her down to the surface. The interceptor set down in a clearing in the jungle, next to another ship. Though she wasn't aware of it at the time, that other ship was the Jackdaw. There wasn't much of a welcome party to speak of, they must've already moved in. No matter, she had the coordinates to their end destination, she'd just have to bear through the jungle on her own. She hoped this wasn't one of those jungles were everything was constantly trying to eat you. That would kind of blow.

It was clear as she stepped out from the cockpit, that her pale complexion was not meant for these conditions. The Arkanians' home planet, Arkania, was a frozen and cold one. She could already tell her stay would be unpleasant. Zylah was dressed in the traditional Jedi robes and undertunics, equipped with a lightsaber attached to her belt. Like the ship she had landed in, it was equipment belonging to the Order, but it was on-loan to her. She took a moment to scan her surroundings, as well as attempt to get her bearings using the GPS on her wrist. After pulling the hood over her head, wanting to protect her face from the exposure, the Padawan set off in a direction, and she really hoped it was the right one. The sooner she reached the temple the better. Although, considering the reports, that might not be entirely true... Kark.

Mimban
The Plains of Thrella
Objective 1

The landing had gone about as well as expected, though, what hadn't been expected was the turnout of Mimbanite and Coway natives, some dressed in traditional war time attire, painted faces and all. The meeting ground had been decided by the Jedi Council, knowing that the plains of Thrella, still half scarred by battle and the destruction it wrought, would be a sobering and reflective place to hold such proceedings. That much was to be determined, however.

The talks had gone on for a long time, some of the native elders at least knowing broken Galactic Standard, which they chose to use so that Varus was aware of what was being said and why. Even then, he was still able to follow along as he opened himself to the force, which allowed him to sense their thoughts as they collected their responses before they even left their tongues. "This place is too beautiful to fight over.", Varus finally said, after getting a moment of silence between the fifty-someodd Mimbanite and Coway natives. "I can actually feel the essence of countless beings that have passed on from this life right here in this spot. The remnants of the force they left behind still lingers here, like fragments of their souls left in the very spot they lost their mortal lives..."

His words trailed off as he realized just how many lives were taken there on those grassy plains, the sun gently trickling down behind the horizon. There was silence as the others, even those who weren't as accustomed to Galactic Standard, realized what he was saying to them all. "Thousands upon thousands gone, and their legacies gone with them.", he said, glancing up at the fire that they were all sitting around. "But why? Was the extinction of their race worth a bit of land when there was so much more to be had?"

Senses, rudimentary at best tried to find what he was feeling with this new ability. Eyes as blue as the ocean darted around the jungles, searching every visible crevice for anything. Ears, weak by most species abilities tried to tune out any white noise to hear what was coming for him. Tobias soon used a trick he learned in the military, the tip of his tongue was exposed briefly as he tasted the air. Some creatures released hormones when excited, and if you knew what you were looking for you could almost taste it. Combat boots dug into the ground, and he kept his head on a swivel. No need to panic, yet.

The composite rifle was instantly off his shoulder, and in his hands, safety quickly switched off.

“Empty yourself, you can do it Toby.” Panic wasn’t something he felt anymore in battles, that had long ago faded at around the age of thirteen. More flashes of blaster bolts snuffing out innocent lives played out across his mind’s eye, and that smile set into a firm line. Muscles in his jaw flexed, and then a rather loud exhale eased the memories away. Another deep breath, and he exhaled this time. All the memories of his previous smuggling, and the conscripted service to the One Sith military started to fade away. One more breath, and the years at the orphanage faded, and he continued the process. Soon, his muscles were relaxed to the point where the last exhale finally cleared him.

Tobias Wraith was just a vessel, the cup was empty.

“When you empty yourself, that’s when the Force meets you. It is your friend, your ally. Don’t fight it, let it work through you Tobias.” @Quorl’s words ran through his mind, and he felt it, that odd merging of all his senses. Sight, sound, taste, and touch all merged and then extended out and away from in into the jungle proper for at least thirty to forty meters from him. Flickers of life were cutting in and out, and the small sparks of energy that the fauna released could be felt. Happiness, the joy of living, and fear at the intruder could all be felt. Tobias pressed his senses outwards, letting the Force flow through the empty cup that he was, and he soon realized something as he felt all the life around him.

There was too much for him to pinpoint what was hunting him.

SNAP!

Hairs on the back of his neck stood up, and his body was moving before he fully understood. Falling into a forward roll, he was soon soaked from a puddle he had rolled through. Coming right back up to his feet, he spun and pointed his rifle at a huge creature that was almost three meters tall. Covered in strange markings, and all four of it’s limbs ending in massive talons. It struck him as quite the predator, it’s teeth confirming what he already knew. Pressing his senses towards it, he realized he couldn’t feel the creature. “What in the feth?” It lunged again, and he was already firing off shoots as he sprinted onward towards the temple. “In dangerous situations, use your lightaber to protect yourself.”

Only some fool had dropped it.

Objective: #3

Zylah had been walking for a while, and she was starting to regret her choice in outfit. The robe especially was tempting to toss off, though she imagined it'd be good to keep on for protection against the elements. Though, underneath the canopy of the jungle's woodland roof, perhaps it would be of no consequence. It wouldn't have been so bad, if not for the humidity. She wasn't accustomed to the climate of these worlds, and wasn't entirely sure what would be the best course of action. She endured it a little longer. Regardless of outfit, on this world, she'd be pretty hot.

Zylah stopped. Ahead of her, she could see something shiny, something metallic laying on the ground. It was familiar... A lightsaber! What was that doing there? She could see no signs of a fight in the surrounding area, but yet here it lay. Had someone dropped it? That was strange and irresponsible. She picked it up, gave it a twirl in her hand before igniting and shutting it down. Yup, it was fully functional. Though who did it belong to? Zylah closed her eyes, emptying her mind as she opened herself to the Force. She repeated the steps [member=Corvus Raaf] had given her, focusing on the Force, letting it flow through her, telling it what she wanted to achieve and believing it would aid her. She stretched out, attempting to use Force Sense. There was so much life in this jungle, though most of it stayed away from her. Fear, perhaps? At least from the lesser creatures. But she wasn't looking for that, she was looking for a presence in the Force, someone light, a Jedi. She tried using the lightsaber as a guide, a conduit of sorts, to guide her towards the presence of the owner, expecting to find a similarity to the feel of the lightsaber itself. It took her a while to search, the jungle was buzzing with life. Eventually, however she found it. He was ahead of her, moving towards the temple, but not ridiculously far off. Wait... She sensed something else. Danger. He was in danger. Kark. She knew what this meant. So much for trying to avoid her tunic becoming drenched in sweat. Zylah set off in a fast run towards his location. Not just was he in danger, but he was one lightsaber short. She really hoped this Jedi was into Jar'kai...

Kian was about to turn toward the others when he saw them. They were faint at first....almost imperceptible but they seemed to slowly build in intensity. Two glowing orbs in the dark. They were oddly familiar to Kian as he stared at them, unsure of what they were. Where he'd seen them before, or what memories they provocked it took him a moment to realize and when he did, he felt his stomach turn.

They were eyes glowing in the dark.....eyes he'd seen before. Eyes he'd seen on Alderaan. Pulling a small glow rod from his utility belt, Kian thumbed it and threw it down the corridor. As the shadow abated and the light shown forth, it revealed three feline, jagged beasts. One clung to the ceiling, the other a wall, and the final one was a bit further back sitting like a kitten on the cold stone floor.

"VOXYN!" Kian yelled over his shoulder, "We need to move." He said, urging the others toward the other corridor, away from the terrible beasts. He had no doubt that the group could handle them, but in such close quarters it would be difficult. They needed to reach more open ground.

As Kian turned to began to dart in the opposite direction of the beasts he couldn't help but get the sense they were being herded.

"What a lovely way to spend the evening." Cyril growled under his breath, turning to follow Kian. He'd faced Voxyn before numerous times; most notably during the war, but even before that in his earliest days.

Experience did not exactly make him confident. They were savage beasts, and they had more than a little bit of an advantage in close quarters such as this. He doused his blade, better not to accidentally cut anyone, and followed after the Kel Dor. He would stay somewhat near the back as he had some experience dealing with these beasts. If they attacked, he had some hope of repelling it long enough to make his way outside.

"If we don't get them somewhere open they'll have our shebs. Keep after Kian!"

"OK, Taesy it is then. And I agree, we can never have too many of the crystals. We have a supply on Ossus but you know how it is. You hand out twenty at the beginning of the class and you only get fifteen back." She smiled. "They help with meditation too, that's mostly what we use them for."

And then Corvus listened about the glasses. They did genuinely seem interesting and clearly had a huge market potential - but then Corvus did not have a business brain. That aspect of her upbringing was neglected. Their parents were wealthy but Corvus never once considered their worth. Or even remembered the name of their farming business. Instead she'd had a little plot of ground when she was a girl and she'd grown flowers. She smiled at the memory and then shared it with her sister. A little girl tending flowers.

And she listened to the list of her own ailments. "Impressive, truly impressive. But come on Taesy-Waesy, we need to find some artefacts. All we need to do is find a..." She stopped and pointed at the ground ahead. Partially covered was a well and if they went down, surely they'd link up with the tunnel network.

"Right Telly-Welly, do your glasses contain any climbing rope?"

"I understand of course, some young people just can't resist the sticky finger disease," Taeli laughed, while she felt like glaring at her sister for the Tasey nickname. It just sounded strange, but maybe she could get used to it. It wasn't like she was going to. . . dang it Corvus.

"Tasey-Wasey. . ." Taeli said, her eyebrow raising as she just gave a deadpan look at her sister. "You're just begging for a new nickname that is just as silly Corvy, and no my glasses do not have climbing rope. Luckily for you, I carry some in here."

Patting her satchel, she flipped the top open and pulled out military-grade fibercord. She didn't skimp when it came to her equipment after all, and it paid to have as much money as she did. Although, she smiled at the memory her sister had shared of a little girl digging in a small garden on Corellia. Going over to the well, she lifted the cover off it and looked down into the inky darkness within it. Tying the cord tightly and tossing it down into the depths of the well, she turned back to her sister.

"Last one in is a Kowakian monkey-lizard," she said, smiling widely as she clipped her self to the rope and jumped down into the well in a controlled rappel down.

Corporal Walker...................he smiled still trying to get used to the sound of it. All of his life every had just called him Wesley or Wes. For many years he had been working for whoever paid him. Then he ended up on a Republic world drinking in a Cantina listening to a bunch of soldiers talk about the endless mission and jobs. A steady paycheck after slim pickings on the Mercenary front sounded right up his alley. His timing it seemed was perfect. He was a new face with civilian kit and a mission had come up. So off he was whisked success granting him a confirmed enlistment in the Republic's Defense Forces. Wes wondered why nobody ever called them Armies anymore.

His attention snapped back to the task at hand as he listened to a Jedi he had not even had time to get his name talk about death. Wes looked like a smuggler with not a stitch of armor on him. He did however have a blaster tucked in his waist ban under his jacket. Command had been insistent on no displays of aggression. He stood behind and just to the right of the Jedi leaning against a tree.

"It is a nice place."

He hoped it would not break some protocol or rule to say anything considering it was the Jedi's op but a kind comment here and there surely wouldn't hurt.

Mimban
The Plains of Thrella
Objective 1

A "click" from between thumb and middle finger rang out after a moment of silence following the words of a newcomer. They were fine words, true to the core, but they'd been spoken by a young man who hadn't made himself known, and they certainly didn't need any more tension that day. The hand had belonged to the large, blonde Jedi, who had been mediating in the negotiations, and when he snapped them he glanced over his shoulder at the man, showing him a stern eyes before allowing a smile to cross his lips.

He waved at the man to come and join him, now that many Mimbanite and Coway eyes were on him anyway. He suggested, with his hand motion, that the young man take a seat next to him, knowing that to invite the young man over would give him a good chance to illustrate the point to the entire meeting.

"Yes, it is.", Varus said before glancing back to the elders of the Mimbanite and Coway tribes, certain that the young man would accept his invitation. "And there is no reason that it cannot be shared, is there? After all, one way or another, someone's going to come and try to take your things sooner or later. In this case I mean the planet. And in that case, wouldn't it be better to have some allies to rely on?". he asked as some nodded and translators began to whisper to some that might not have fully understood him.

Kian hated running away from a fight. He'd done it on Empress Teta where he had been forced to flee from the One Sith when he needed to help get his friend out of harms way, he'd done it on Manaan, fleeing the flooding compartment below the depths of the city, and now he was doing it here. In those situations, and this one, it was a necessary thing to do. It wasn't cowardliness, but strategy.....but still, it was Kian's nature to stand and fight in the face of opposition.

So it was that when the corridor appeared to open up ahead and Kian saw and opportunity to turn and face the beasts behind him that a part of him thrilled at it.

Kian stopped at the entranceway and waved his fellow Jedi within, then stepped through himself and stood at the entranceway. The heavy stone archway would only allow a single Voxyn through at a time and if the Jedi were efficient enough, they could use that to their advantage. As the first of the beasts began to cross through the threshold, Kian brought his saber down heard at the beasts face, aiming for an eye. The tough hide of the Voxyn dulled the impact of his lightsaber but it found its mark cutting into one of the animals soft eyes. The creature howled with rage and turned on Kian, exposing itself to the others.

Voxyn. If Dad found out she'd even been in the same star system as voxyn, there'd be hell to pay. At the helm of a Tachyon-class light freighter, Mara flew a lazy spiral above the Temple of Pomojema, looking for voxyn. Looking, ostensibly, for anyone who needed help. The light freighter drifted over the swamps of Mimban, angling so she could see the ground. She peered around.

"This is Mara Merrill," she said on an open channel, scanning the swamp and the temple entryway, at least as well as she could through the trees. "I'm airborne near the Temple of Pomojema. I can pull off a pickup if anyone needs it. I say again, this is Mara Merrill, airborne and ready for an evac call."
