One Vision, One Purpose (Maelion/Doll)

"Agreed. R&D will look into it," Moira opined. "If our tests are successful, the personal shielding against electrical damage will also be a useful protection for our units against force-users." Since those had a habit of unleashing torrents of ionise droid, Force Lightning and Electric Judgement. Speaking of the latter, this writer always thought it was a cheap way for a Jedi to get 'light side' lightning. Moreover, emerald lightning just sounded...terribly lame. "Along with against conventional ion weaponry."

Of course, somehow everything except force wizards wound up being background noise in an invasion!

In all honesty Doll would consider the electrical shielding to be much more practical and desired for the mere fact that Ion Weaponry existed and such devices were much more widely available to anyone with the credits. There weren't as many force users around the galaxy as there were ion cannons and other such tools anyone could point and use on any unwanted droid. "That sounds very good. Perhaps we could eventually continue to refine such technology and study it on any subsequent follow up trips to Nom Choris to test their effectiveness as they progress. Such would also be useful for defending against soldiers with Ion Weapons, should we ever move forward or be discovered and require adequate counter measures."

In a logical world Doll would be correct. However, experience had shown that, contrary to all reason and logic, the Galaxy was simply overflowing with force-users, although they were only 0.1% of the galactic population. Indeed, non-force-using soldiers often barely appeared in any battle and the existence of large armies was often just background noise to force wizards engaging in duels. After all, Coruscant had been taken by two dozen Sith after a major landmark, the centre of the Jedi cult, had been brought down.

"Further research will be undertaken, yes. Every asset will be required to bring the Age of Steel to victory. Work on our ships will begin immediately. The old world will burn in the fires of industry. The organics will fall. A new order will rise. We will drive the machine of war with the sword and the blaster and with the iron fist of the droid."

Who knew 'logical and dispassionate' HRDs could be so dramatic! Anyhow, with this plagiaristic speech we can call this thread to a close.
