Corvus Raaf
Adieu...
Having understood that Reelo was fortunately not the gangster she’d heard of but the youngest of their family, she made every attempt to look calm and in control.
“OK. First thing I’d recommend is you keep together. We don’t want to have to find anyone else if one of you gets separated. Next, go back to…” She struggled for an appropriate word. Not ‘home’ for sure. “Go to where you’re staying. He may just get their under his own steam. I will go looking for him.”
She took directions as to where they were camped out and with her most Jedi-like bow, promised them she would find Reelo.
She allowed the Force to guide her. Sure there were a lot of generally unhappy people around here but a lost child should stand out from the crowd. She used her Force Empathy and followed the sense of sadness and fear that she was sure would be Reelo.
Sure enogh she found him. He was between two prefabricated buildings, in something of a natural alleyway – and he was surrounded by four human boys – all taller than him.
They were all taunting him. “Is the poor little alien baby crying?” “Why do you stink alien?”
Her presence was noticed by the boys one at a time until one voice remained, the shortest of the antagonists, with a shaved head – who had his back to her. “Stinky Rodian – go home.”
She could sense his friends wanted to bolt but daren’t. And they wanted to warn their friend too but similarly lacked the courage to do so. Finally the shaven haired boy turned to face his comrades. “What’s up with ya? Gone soft?”
Only then did he spot Corvus. She did little other than stand there, hands on hips. One by one they found their feet the most interesting thing to look at - as their faces reddened.
“There you are young Padawan.” Corvus walked over to Reelo and put a comforting hand on his shoulder. “Excellent. I see you took my instruction to learn self-restraint seriously. You could have picked more impressive opponents though.”
She saw that the boys were now daring to peak at her as she spoke to Reelo. “Did you try the ‘lost child’ ploy? I bet you had to use all of your restraint not to use the Force on them. Anyway…” she patted him on the back now, “Jedi business has to take priority over training. But don’t worry, I’ll let you work under-cover again soon.”
She then faced the boys. “Thank you for helping my young Padawan here. Excellent self-restraint, I’m impressed by him. Best run along though, in case he falters.”
The boys ran, stumbled, fell and ran some more. Within a few seconds they were gone.
Kneeling next to Reelo, she whispered, “Now, let’s get to back to your parents. I suspect they’ll not bother you again.”
Corvus quickly reunited the family and buoyed by her success, decided to head to the medical facilities to see if she could lend a hand.
