[Open] The Chronicles of Asteria: Episode One - The Kazerath of Nemoidia

Abril

The priest God never paid
Abril did not give up. She was not allowed inside, however, a small Jedi mind trick might work. She reached her hand out towards the guards to signal a mind trick. Both of the guards remained unmoved by the magical force. She slapped one of them. The other droid tried to hit back before being stopped by Abril's force hold, crushing his hand. Some people in the streets turned their attention to the massacre happening. Batting an eye was easy in the city, caring was not. One small child looked at Abril, she looked directly into his soul. He ran off. Now turning her attention back to the droids at hand. She quickly threw one of them over the gateway, crushing their body. She smashed the other ones head into the railing, exposing wires and metal inside. One citizen turned his head to watch the chaos, pupils dilated. Fear. She looked him right in the eye and whispered: "There is nothing here for you to see". he repeated "There is nothing here for me to see" as he walked away into the chaos of the busy city. She jumped over the gate and continued inwards.

Cato Neimoidia: Bridge City
Overlooking the Grand Vault entrance

"Bloody, karking shet stain!" Cursed the Major -her comlink suddenly asking for an acknowledgement. The two agents escorting her flinched, for foul language wasn't a quantifiable affectation of the Station Chief. She was rightly angered to the point of burning her cheeks into a shade of purple.

Annoyance bubbled to frustration, and this frustration nearly toppled her over into a seething -full blown rage. Her brain began to race wildly at how many redundant and outright stupid decisions the First Order could allow to happen when engaging in these ops. What was she dealing with? Children? Her hands crunched with audible knuckle popping as she paused while overlooking the entrance. The briefing was clear: no artifact was worth open warfare upon the streets of Commenor ground. The lead Security Bureau operative in charge of arranging this little excursion had been as blunt about that fact. It was already enough that the Ren had been sneaked into the mission under her nose, and now the army was here too?

"Bloody Maria! Idiots. I am surrounded by idiots!"

The Major pushed aside her first concern that having each agent check in with communicators could compromise all of their locations if the enemy had compromised the secure connection -which is why these were only to be used if, and only if, there was an emergency. Leave it to the army to of course ignore the subtitles of infiltration and reconnaissance. No matter, no alliance types were shooting at them yet. The tall woman waved her subordinates forward to maintain surveillance on the entrance and while they began to tag and spot various defensive threats while she retreated to an empty desk and sank into its seat with intense displeasure. Rubbing her temples, she breathed to calm her tone and reported in.

::Callsign Sturm-one, this is Callsign Spider -check.::

Sturm-one, is it? Must've been those pair of fools: Colonel Varken -hunting for glory -and his tin can clad toady. What was her name? Lt Col. Demek. . . Wonderful. Truly wonderful. Might as well call in the 6th Fleet while the army were at it. Resentment began to fizzle away as the professional need to provide data superseded any misgivings. This was now sure to become a bloodbath. All that was left was monitor the chaos and hope for the best. Rubbing her temples, the Major ordered the second team which were currently en route to the wrong vault to turn back in order to secure their route back to the freighter. Internally, she hoped the Ren on site would somehow use their powers to set everything in order.

CATO NEIMOIDIA
OBJECTIVE: GVE

The taxi came to a halt about half a kilometer away from the vault buildings, their frames sticking out from the city around them. Rick and the two disguised soldiers left the ship and examined their position. There were no transmitters provided, even encrypted, in case of tightened security. Therefore, location was extremely important. The group of soldiers were in a ground-level market district, various species running around with their groceries. The area that all four groups would meet in before performing their final tasks was very close now.

A twenty-story public shopping building, the rendezvous point provided a great view of the surrounding area from its eighteenth-floor balcony. Almost the entire vault complex was visible from the balcony, including details that would be important for an infiltration. There were enough people in the building to make the presence of twenty-one men in a close area an unsuspecting sight, and elevators were large and easily accessible.

Rick and the concealed soldiers ascended up one of the building's elevators, heading to the eighteenth floor. After an eternity of shoppers running in and out of the elevator, the elevator's steel doors finally opened to reveal the eighteenth level of the shopping facility. Filled with noise, shops, and people, it was easy to be hidden in. The balcony was massive, and while only on one side of the building, it was able to fit about two hundred various individuals, and provided excellent views of the surrounding city.

"We're here, but where are the others?" Rick wondered, voicing his thoughts out loud.

Just a few seconds after that, twelve individuals wearing the same disguises as the soldiers beside Rick appeared from the foglike crowd of people, with six more closely behind them.

"So we're all here now, and in good shape. Let's get moving with this." a sergeant almost-yelled, but maintained enough quiet to avoid revealing the Alliance's operations to the nearest forty people.

"Indeed. Time is of the essence." Rick replied. "Goodbye, let's hope we all see eachother alive again after this."

SOCOM that was Sturm ostensibly and Anda's eyes widen as a response comes through the Comlink channel that was a slight surprise though not entirely unexpected they'd been warned that the FOSB might be running a parallel operation, given the secretive nature of both organisations Varken was hardly surprised they were both ignorant of one another's presence something to mention to their handler during debrief. "Do you feel that?" Anda looks towards Varken with a slightly perplexed look after the Senior Guardsman's thoughts penetrate her own mind pondering on his words for a moment and then it strikes her; the gathering dark energy around a nearby person or object? It couldn't be their prize else it would have been felt already. Glancing back to the ground floor Anda finds no answers and continues watching the occasional citizen stroll pass the Grand Vault's entrance "I can feel her anger...." Whisperer sighs quietly pondering these feelings that radiate across the force's all entangling web she attempts to focus harder on the ripple bringing her eyelids together; shut. Catching a sideways glare from Varken as if to silently encourage the Junior Praetorian in their focus. Varken pulls the thick rough-knitted hood back over his helmet somewhat and watches Whisperer intently she had been distracted and blinded by Spider's frustration that she couldn't sense what he could.

"What you sense and what I sense has different origins, your focus on a slighted agent has clouded your vision young Whisperer you yet still have much to learn about the force. You're being overwhelmed by the living force of this city, focus on the present." Varken harshly offers the correction scolding Whisperer for allowing herself to be distracted by what he dismisses as a distraction from their current purpose; Retrieve the Kazerath with minimal casualties while maintaining deniability Varken's thoughts drift to the loose-fitting albeit heavy coarse knitted jumpsuits they wore to conceal their silhouettes and modified FO-01 Stormtrooper armour. Wouldn't have stealth field generator belts been more practical? But then the Senior Praetorian recalls that they couldn't maintain a stealth field while the wearer was moving, explaining why. It leaves Anda wondering when SOCOM procurement was going to finally source those suits of Mandalorian Armour they'd requisitioned off of the Black market would arrive in their armory, this was the first time they'd truly gone beyond First Imperial or Ssi-ruuk Space while requiring heavy protective equipment in the event of unforeseen protracted contact.

”This is making me uncomfortable, Ms. LaForte.” Kemoth said frankly, raising her brow at the number of Force-sensitives that were either intruding on them or outright approaching them. Kemoth interfaced with her droids, telling them to stand near where their weapons were stored. ”If something happens, this way they can aid you.” Kemoth thought. She looked towards the Force-sensitive followers of the Pale with her, beckoning for them to keep up and not get distracted by the wonders of the Grand Vaults.

“I do hope it is not an intrusion to communicate telepathically, but I am sensing other Force-sensitives. They seem to be… increasing. Was there, perchance, an arrival of your Knights of Commenor?” Kemoth asked over telepathic communications, not looking to LaForte. Instead she looked on ahead, her Force-sensitive spec-ops in formation behind her.

It occurred to Kemoth that she was picking up on malevolent intentions through her senses. Nothing solid. There were no faces, only voices. It seems that her soon-to-be opponents weren’t close enough for things to be clearer. Then it hit her. She felt the anger of someone within the Dark side, and knew then that things were not as they seemed. The peace on Cato Neimoidia would soon be shattered, she believed, and Kemoth would have to be part of those that insured the peace was ripped from oblivion and reestablished. That meant using the Force, perhaps at full strength.

"While I' am sympathetic with your concerns, he only thing that could possibly harm us within the vaults is an extremely large star destroyer crashing into the planet, which I have no reports of. When we leave, they can re-arm and assist in escorting you along with a security detail from the local law enforcement."

Natalie nodded to one of the security guards indicating for him to radio in the request.

"VS-34 to Central, requesting a security detail for extraction of a high profile item from the vault."

"Central to VS-34, dispatching officers now."

Natalie eyed the hallway as they continued, approaching the safe that the Kazerath device was located in. As far as I know the Knights of Commenor rarely operate within Cato Neimoidia, they have jurisdiction but I've never seen one on this planet in my time serving. If anybody attempts to steal the device, trust me, I'll be using the full extent of my powers to retrieve it immediately and bring them to justice.

She paused as they finally reached it, Natalie looked to yet another guard who had accompanied them on the way to the vault. As they edged further and further into it, the floors grew dustier, the lights slightly dimmer. By now, they could see the end of the corridor where it was simply stainless steel coating every wall. The very final secure box at the end of it contained the device, with another security officer standing infront of it, this one looking to be high ranking due to the insignia on his shoulderplate. If she paid close attention and had some background knowledge, she would actually know he was representing some sort of high security bureau within the local law enforcement.

As they approached, he leaned into whisper into her hear.

"We underestimated the importance of this device. While we would usually wish to keep it on site for safekeeping we have reason to believe that if we do we'd be overwhelmed by a number of suspicious individuals who have been tapping into various supposedly-encrypted channels. Act normal and there won't be a need for a firefight. Don't do as told and the funding to this institution will be dropped for incompetence. If we're fired upon due to aggressiveness then they'll only show us their true identities and lead to their capture,"

Natalie smiled as her fangs showed and she nodded. The officer then inputed a code into the passlocked vault, and as the door whirred open a rather peculiar chest, wooden and royal in appearance took form. Natalie took the box and lifted it up, showing a wooden key, blowing the top of it and causing a few dust particles to be blasted back into the box, ready to sit for another century.

"This is what it came in. Standard lock and key mechanism. When you're returning it please do so exactly how you found it, locked and inside this container."

She took the key and unlocked it, revealing the Kazerath device in its full glory.

"I'll be carrying it to your vehicle."

While [member="Abril"] had successfully deterred the nearby organics, word had spread on the destruction of several droids in the high class area, and despite nobody being able to give an eyewitness report, the scene was cordoned off soon and evidence collected ready for further investigation.
